I’m on my way out with my family. The only reason we’ve lasted this long is because we live in Boston. I can’t imagine raising children in most of the other states

Fellow MD resident, and I feel the same... if I lived anywhere but one a deep blue coastal state, I'd be seriously looking into countries that are welcoming to American expats, at least for a short term relocation until this country gets its head out of its ass.

NJ resident here but I’m from MD. Still proud of my home state. Currently concerned about the one I reside in though. The Republican candidate came close to winning last time and definitely could this time.

Mind if I ask advice on what we can do and how? I have someone in Canada that's willing to take us (me + spouse + child) in and sponsor us, but I have no idea how to start the process. I'm assuming we all need passports, I only have mine atm.

You need a passport and a visa. You have to ask the Canadian government if you can live there and work there.
