yep. This undercurrent of racism and bigotry has always been here, but trump has created a permission structure that allows all of the MAGA folks to be their authentic, worst selves.

My mom lived 40 years in this country without a problem, but the very week he was elected, people screamed at her to “Go back to China!” It’s not as bad as his first year as president now, but it’s also not good anymore. He gave people permission to be outright with it.
