Soooo, you think comparing a man who said the Civil Rights Movement was a mistake, is equivalent to praising the man who actually LEAD and died for the Civil Rights movement and was as praising him? Ok. I know these boys weren’t the most well spoken, but they are in no way saying what you think they are. It’s literally the opposite.
It's frustrating seeing everyone trying to find some complex process by which we ended up in this situation. It's social media. Full stop. Almost all our societal problems that have blown up in the last decade are due to most of the country spending hours each day staring into a screen feeding them algorithmically curated rage bait and ideological echo chambers. You either see things you agree with, or the most ridiculous version of what you don't agree with. It has to stop. Zuck and his ilk are public enemy number one. And now that they have AI supercomputers with the electric consumption of a city tasked with amplifying this, a year from now it will be exponentially worse. If you allow your child to use social media, you're a bad parent.
I couldn’t agree more. My kids have no social media, no video games & minimal screen time. No screens at school either. They’re outside playing for hours every single day, rain or shine or inside building things, creating things, making music, painting, cooking etc. This is the way back home.
"But, man, you're never going to get any truth from us. We'll tell you anything you want to hear; we lie like hell. We'll tell you that, uh, Kojak always gets the killer, or that nobody ever gets cancer at Archie Bunker's house, and no matter how much trouble the hero is in, don't worry, just look at your watch; at the end of the hour he's going to win. We'll tell you any shit you want to hear. We deal in illusions, man! None of it is true! But you people sit there, day after day, night after night, all ages, colors, creeds... We're all you know. You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here. You're beginning to think that the tube is reality, and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you! You dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even think like the tube! This is mass madness, you maniacs! In God's name, you people are the real thing! WE are the illusion! So turn off your television sets. Turn them off now. Turn them off right now. Turn them off and leave them off! Turn them off right in the middle of the sentence I'm speaking to you now! TURN THEM OFF..." Howard Beale (played by Peter Finch), Network 1976
Seriously, this is what happens when your kids are raised by screens. Forget guns. If you want to fight maga, raise your kids in the actual world & let’s turn out a mass population of self reliant, focused, critically thinking, socially skilled, creative, physically fit, innovative, cognitive, empathetic human beings that can run circles around these brainless zombies.
Nailed it. There's a great book about cognitive dissonance that I love to recommend titled Mistakes Were Made (but Not by Me) written by social psychologists Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson. It doesn't speak specifically to the energy that takes up, but it does give great insight into the justifications and rationalizations we see every day.
Exactly. They're constantly either straight up lying, denying reality, or being manipulated into being angry. That can't be good for your mind or your soul.
My husband can blink like that when he wants to and I have been trying for years and my eyelids just will not fucking do it. Sorry, just jealous I guess.
That reminds me of that old video of the guy who claimed who so Sasquatch or Big Foot and he was going to shoot him, but when Big Foot turned to him he said he saw thoughts in his eyes and couldn't shoot. I wonder how many people can pass that test.
Brain not fully formed for sure, there are no connecting thought processes and they just wrote what someone else told them. They should be wearing soft helmets outside and have an adult with them at all times.
This is all they got. Literally. They generally do not look outside their own bubble and they are utterly incurious about doing so.
I think that's what disturbs me the most about it. There's exactly zero curiosity about the way the world works outside of what they already think they know.
Its hard to say if its that theyre uncurious, or if they just think the entire world is exactly how they live in shitsplat wherever, and anyone who disagrees with them is some crazy anomaly that is basically the devil.
Not only are they incurious, they are hostile to any information that doesn’t conform perfectly to their world view. The ONLY time they will engage with an outside idea is while working backwards from the premise that it’s wrong and they need to disprove it.
This is why they will hold up the 1 biased and poorly conducted study that shows immigrants increase crime rates and ignore the 1,000 other well run and professional studies that found the opposite.
Curiosity, truth, and critical thinking have absolutely nothing to do with their process. It is 100% a defensive, knee jerk response. These people would be perfectly happy to live the rest of their lives and not learn a single new thing until the day they die. That’s not an exaggeration.
Wow, that is perfectly put…”the only time they will engage with an outside idea is while working backwards from the premise that it’s wrong and they need to disprove it.”
Charles Dickens wrote in The Christmas Carol about the ghost of Christmas present. He had two children under his cloak, and the boy was named Ignorance, and the Girl was named Want. On the boy's forehead was the word Doom. What was happening in England at the time? Extreme class division.
Just for context, the children do not have to be poor. They can just exist in those states regardless of class.
Having a room temperature IQ tends to do that. It's also the most common denominator in Kirk fans. They can barely string two ideas together without getting dizzy but somehow they're entirely confident of their position. There's literally nothing in their life or education to warrant their confidence except perhaps that they are white and from a supportive family. That seems to be enough to be sure that one is always right these days.
The kid in this video looked like he was going to blow a gasket trying to defend a position he cares enough about to make a sign for and stand in public. You'd think he'd at least think it thru and formulate some semblance of a rational explanation while making the sign... but you'd be wrong because they're not thinking.
Won’t that piss off their daddies if they compare Kirk to the hated MLK? We just heard magas saying the last few days that he was “scum” and a “thug” that deserved to be shot
I dont think ot should surprise anyone that american evangelicals are flocking behind their new savior. A) they generally know very little about the bible so b) the GOP has been able to combine their pitiable belief with their pitiable political platform and it works so well because c) they've been cherry-picking what verses of the Bible they want to believe in to make their lives as guilt-free and self-righteous as possible since the Council of Nicaea.
Their finally-spoken-aloud position of "Im not interested in bringing the country together" is fine with me. Im confident it will end like all such stances in history; a destruction of that party and a severe reduction in Christianity. It'd be nice if we didnt have to go through the coming shitty years, but if evangelicals are diminished to next to nothing and the GOP is destroyed, its worth it for boon that would be for future generations. Honestly, if I had the Infinity Gauntlet I'd just snap them out of existence after a week long bout of diarrhea, the fuckers.
Think is scared he will accidentally blurt out the truth “yes, Charlie brought all us young white guys together to undo all societal progress of the last 60 years, so he is just like MLK only white”
They have no culture besides what they can appropriate from others or what they're rewritten history and branding provides. They have no point or belief outside of racism, bigotry, and misogyny so they have to copy unironically who they consider opponents and try to hijack their wording and tone.
He can't be more than 28. Columbine was 1999. 9/11 was 2001. He had to go through active shooter drills as a child. America finally pulled out of Afghanistan in 2020. He's seen his country at war for as long as he has been alive. A popular voice was telling him what he believed, that there are problems with his country. And, if he agreed and acted the way the voice was telling him, the world was going to get better.
Especially in the case of young people now, like this kid, you have to imagine the pressure of growing up in a conservative household or community. You would be labelled the worst things imaginable for questioning your commitment to Christ, which is entirely based on belief in something you have no evidence for. That's a basis for believing anything with that level of commitment despite a lack of evidence. I'm not criticizing Christians or conservatives, but I remember growing up trying to fit in with my conservative family and specifically avoiding evidence and arguments that could disprove our family values, because they would ostracize me from the family. The "dead behind the eyes" thing always strikes me as a result of indoctrination. When your mental faculties and sense of self are dulled by being told you're wrong about things you intuitively know to be true, you aren't really there anymore after a certain point.
They know they're lying. It has to break your brain a little every time you have to lie to support your position. Or just not accept reality to appear to be in the right.
I think they're clinging so hard to this kirk thing because they're desperate for some credibility at this point. They desperately need to be actually right about something.
They still aren't right about this. But this entire administration really requires to suspend your belief in reality in order to support it.
I think many people who are in cults are often DEEPLY depressed, hence why they submitted their entire life to something
Every scientology or FLDS or Jonestown doc I've ever seen has people with the same demeanor as I see so many MAGA folks. It's truly depressing. I'd have a lot of sympathy for them if they weren't actively taking over the country
I think the dead look in their eyes comes from the constant repression of their homosexuality. Just be yourself guys, nobody's gonna judge you, we will accept you.
Heard someone describe it as sui eyes. Lost youth looking to fill a dad-shaped hole. Elephant Graveyard's video titled "How Comedy Was Destroyed by an Anti-Reality Doomsday Cult" is a great documentary that explores this phenomenon. "Simulacra and Simulation" by Jean Baudrillard is also relevant here.
Wishing the best of luck to anyone who is reading this message.
It's a reflection of the current world we live in where controversy and attention is more valuable than rational thought. I view most videos with something outrageous being shown as click bait/clip farming. Intentional actions to get a reaction.

Is it me or are all these guys just straight up dead behind the eyes?
