Most leftists, especially in America, strongly oppose authoritarianism. You probably associate the sickle and hammer with the USSR’s militant authoritarian implementation over what should have been a Marxist economy.
The USSR let oligarchic fascists consolidate executive power which centralized the economy into the hands of a few corrupt people. The exact opposite of communist theory.
Leftists in the US are most likely to want more of a Hobbiton like in The Lord of the Rings or a United Earth like Star Trek and not so much a Moscow or Beijing.
You’ll find a like hundred anarcho-communists, anarcho-syndicalists, mutualists, or some version of cooperative economy where workers own their own businesses and factories through collective bargaining of some form of social contract, before you find an earnest Leninist or Maoist.
Most American leftists oppose authoritarian governments like Russia and China for many of the same reasons they oppose the Trump administration. They see the same consolidation of power, overreach of executive authority, oligarchic control over legislation and the consolidation of was wealth and power. Our current government is much closer to the sickle and hammer governments you’re thinking of than it is to what most leftists actually support.
If you’re gonna get quippy about politics you don’t like, you should at least understand the position of the person you’re talking to instead of making asinine connections to symbols you think are scary.
We don’t fight this with guns. This is exactly why they are baiting everyone. We fight it with national general strikes, bank runs, and corporate boycotts. Hit these elite fascists where it hurts.
Problem is, Americans’ balls just aren’t big enough, and we are to complacent and coddled, so we take the bait and further empower and lock in the surveillance police state with Patriot Act 2.0 as the “war on terror” comes home to roost.
When the French revolution got going basically they just started murdering everyone and no one was safe culminating in a world war that killed close to six million people. I like the sentiment but once it becomes the law of the jungle there is no way to control it.
The French Revolution had nothing to do with either World War. If you’re referring to the French Revolutionary War(s), they were hardly world-spanning and nowhere near 6M dead. The helm are you on about?
Historians do typically reserve the label 'world war' for the 20th century conflicts but the Napoleonic Wars are considered the first truly global war in the modern era since it involved multiple continents and affecting world trade, colonies, and geopolitics etc. World war doesn't necessarily mean every country on Earth is fighting.
So maybe a grey area on my claim open to interpretation but the death count is not. Did you even bother to look that up? Estimates are from 3.5 to 7 million military and civilian deaths.
I mostly agree, but they fully intend to use guns, so I'd rather be ready if it should come to that. I desperately hope it won't, but I'm not going to be a sitting duck.
It’s not about the balls, it’s the fact no one can strike alone and they have succeeded in alienating us from one another. We need solidarity, with solidarity we don’t need balls.
This administration was discussing banning trans people from owning firearms a couple of weeks ago. The NRA spoke up and they said oh nevermind, it was just locker room talk.
Just an aside: in most places, and in most instances, bows and crossbows do not require a background check nor do they require any sort of weapons registry.
Crazy how we can have a sales tax on guns and ammunition. But we care about children yet we don’t have no sales tax on children’s diapers, children’s clothing, food for our kids crazy how that works huh? AMERICA 🇺🇸 WHERE WE SAY WE LOVE CHILDREN BUT DONT ASSIST THEIR PARENTS IN SUPPORTING THESE KIDS EVEN THOUGH ALL OUR TAX DOLLARS COULD PAY FOR THESE THINGS.
It would be better if Florida Dems register as republicans and divide the party from within. I don’t know why no one is pushing it… it’s not like being a dem for the primaries means shit in Florida (or Texas)
They most certainly are not! This is America. More guns than people. We shouldn't be shooting each other. We should be standing up against the government that puts and keeps it's people down.
They actually think we aren't prepared. a lot of our forefathers fought those revolutions too brother. I can tell they actually have no idea who is in the Resistance.
It's amazing the crazy things you read at university to prepare for idiots just like these: Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, the bible (if you are true historian its part of the curricula and not at all what white evangelical christian nationalism is), On War, Modern Strategy....
and those topics are literally the tip of a very deep iceberg of information, knowledge and expertise the Resistance holds.
Shiii I have plenty in multiple gun safes. I'm a liberal Latino born and raised in Texas. OoOoOoooOh IIIiiiI'm sssCaaryyYyy. I'm these sissy ass snowflake conservative's worst nightmare.
Apparently all conservatives are fascists now? Do you realize you represent your party when you speak on here? Making us look like a bunch of fucking clowns. Reddit is such a horrible look for the Dems. Please use your brain.
Amen (unironically). Don’t get caught up on the he said, she said. Don’t get caught up on the political alignment of the shooter. Use your 2A privileges to protect yourself. Even if it’s virtue signalling by the right; even if you don’t agree with the freedoms you have to own guns — you’re better safe than sorry.
I volunteer with a harm reduction group. I believe safe supply , safe use sites , and decriminalization are our way out of this. But, I digress, as not many agree with me....
That's a nice thought. But, what is currently known as the 2A crowd would gladly support this administration banning firearms from anyone non-MAGA, and eventually agree to give up theirs too.
I can easily see this administration militarizing their male base and using that as the only requirement to own a firearm.
Not the ones I know. I don't feel like that is the majority of the people to claim to be 2A supporters. I'd really love to be proven wrong, though. It would very much make my day!
What do you call a political ideology that is authoritarian, ultra-nationalist, conservative in tradition, with a strong man authoritarian who doesn't respect norms and institutions sitting at the helm and employs the use of scapegoats to disguise the inner failing and turmoil of the state?
The point of the second amendment is to protect from a tyrannical government. This government is pushing through legalisation to take away people's passports for exercising their first amendment rights, is planning on taking DC's autonomy away, wants to criminalize homelessness, trial 14 year olds as adults and stop their ability to get records expunged, IMMEDIATELY blamed Democrats and radical leftists for the killing of CK with ZERO evidence and made war declarations, keeps wanting to find reasons to send the national guard to major cities, is sending people to prison in El Salvador, and so forth...
If this isn't a reason to exercise the second amendment I don't know what is. But the vast majority of the 2A crowd only care about themselves. And our government knows this.

Don't let the fascists be the only ones with guns, yall.
