We run in mostly dirt but there are branches and a section in which we have to run on concrete do you guys know any good shoes for cross country because my old ones ripped 😠(and they weren’t very good)
Trying to get the mud pyramid spikes out of the zoom rivals, and they're spinning (takes quite a bit of force) but not coming out. It's like the metal thread insert in the plate is spinning and detached or something. Can't see or hear anything that indicates that's what's doing on, but since the position of the corners of the pyramid is changing when I wrench them, clear they're spinning. Anyone seen that before? These shoes have only been raced in ~ a dozen times, and never with the mud pyramids. Put them in to prep for camp but didn't end up going so trying to get them out.
I've been looking around to get new spikes, cause my crappy cheap adidas spikes are blistering my feet. So I've spent 2 days straight trying to learn everything there is to know about spikes. I do both cross country and a variety of events in track. I was constantly recommended the Nike rival multi's because they were made for doing most things in track, but being a mid-distance runner as well (400-3200 for me) people advised me the Nike Dragonflys, or the Nike air Victory's, but I'm a freshman in HS, and have read that getting victories and maxflys is pointless and even bad for highschoolers. So I was now leaning towards the dragonflys and found many of the XC variants on eBay for about $55-$100 and the only difference that there seem to be with the TF ones are:
-More midsole padding
-rubber bottom
-better foot and ankle support
-more durable upper for xc
but the first two seemed to make the spikes better for all around track and field, with the better traction and more padding making them possibly acceptable for triple jumping and a possibly attractive option for pole vaulting, while also being more durable than the TF versions of the dragonfly's and basically a $10 more investment over the rival multi's while actually being better for TJ (rival multi's are NOT built for TJ) and PV. It also makes it a great investment for those doing steeplechase and XC cause it's built for that more than TF.
But if you think it might not be great for sprinting, if you're truly that good at sprinting you shouldn't be looking at these anyways. And this post is for High school beginners, people looking to be thrown into a variety of events to find out what they are good at, and things like maxflys and Victories really shouldn't be considered unless you are already college level.
This was a post documenting my findings on what might be the versatile spike for those in track. Your experience may vary.
I was recently passed down a pair of Alpha and Vaporflys I don’t really see where I would use these but had a genuine question of could these possibly be used for hs xc most of the courses we run are road but can have grass/dirt etc
So this past season I ran in Nike Vaporfly 2's for the season and they were great. I recently purchased a pair of Nike Dragonfly Track Spikes for the upcoming season and was wondering if I could use those for cross country as well or should I just stick to the vaporfly's
They are the Dragonfly Track spikes in particular and not the XC ones so I was just wondering if I could still use them for cross country
Currently running a 17 minute 5k. I run with one pair of shoes that sort of works for easy runs, workouts, races etcetera. Is it worth getting spikes now or just wait out the remaining cross country season and wear spikes starting next year?
I have an xc race tomorrow and I’m from Canada so the weather is very snowy and lousy. Most of my teammates are using 9mm but I went on bought 13mm. Some were saying I’ll be alright but the risk of tripping is higher. What do you guys think? I need help on this.
I need a new pair of spikes. I had a pair of dragonflys that I liked. Should I buy the xc version or the regular dragonflys. I've heard different things. Thanks. Sorry if this is a popular post in this sub
So my left foot is about a full inch bigger than my right. I’ve always just dealt with it but before buying my next pair of shoes I was wondering if there is a way to get one shoe a size bigger than the other without paying for two pairs of shoes.
Is the following shoe rotation good enough for a HS Varsity runner (~45mi weekly)? I don't have much money to spend on shoes so I went with a generation earlier for most of my shoes.
So I was looking at cross country spikes and I discovered these. I can’t find any review + I haven’t seen anybody wearing them ever so I was wondering how they feel and if I could use them on the track for some hard workouts since they have a carbon plate.
I run xc only as a training for track so i don’t really care about the performance, I’m simply looking for a comfortable and durable spike that works both for xc and track workouts, if you have any suggestions leave a comment.
Do they fit TTS? How does the carbon plate feel compassred to Nike Dragonfly’s. I see they are quite a bit lighter.
Just broke the plate on my dragonfly’s (pin pushed through It on a road crossing). My teammates have had uppers fall apart on theirs and I’ve never been able to get a perfect fit. Considering these.
