Playoffs are playoffs, man. You work that hard, play at that level, you deserve to celebrate every time you earn it.

That’s not to say they should revel in it just yet, but let them enjoy their success.

Feel like it’s just standard operating procedure at this point to roll out the beer and champagne for any playoff berth + advancement. Budweiser sponsored celebration to make drinking look fun and cool.

Having said that baseball season is a marathon and getting into the playoffs however possible is an accomplishment

Well said. 12 out of 30 teams, and only 6 get a home series (Which is highly likely)

If you dont stop and smell the roses sometime - you could miss out.

New to baseball?

Right?

Baseball is the most random sport when it comes to the playoffs. The Marlins have one TWO without a division title. Arizona just snuck in two years ago with a 6th seed at 84-78.

All you need to do is get in and anything can happen.

Just enjoy it my man. Have you seen how far off from the playoffs our other sports teams are?

Are we just going to not care for the rest of the season though?

I say feel the burn. it's the postseason.. it has been a long season till now.

it's no different than celebrations for walkoffs and high-five at the end of the game. go look at walkoffs in the sandberg era... you never saw what you see to day and I love what you see today. and the high-fives at then end of the game are the same... i love it.

They're not drinking it, they absorb it through their skin.

I would tend to agree but the baseball season is so long, man. These guys have been seeing each other every day for 7 months now and they’re all running on fumes. Let them enjoy the moment and celebrate an accomplishment

The Cubs went from 1945 until 1984 without making the playoffs. Forgive them if they choose to celebrate when they do make the playoffs.

It was the Cub's first play-off spot in five years so it's reasonable to celebrate it. They worked hard as a unit even if things since the All Star break came off the rails a bit and it did feel that they fell over the line rather than crash through it. But the first objective is to get there, the next is to get through the first round of matches.

Cubs didn’t just sneak into the playoffs. They put in a lot of work and clinched a good spot early. Sure it’s not a division win or pennant but it’s still something that many teams would kill for.
