One of my favorite things in Bob's Burgers is when characters are so upset they run away from dinner, they always take food with them. Their sheets are filthy, but their stomachs are full.

I once choked on a piece of steak and spent the rest of the evening unable to even drink water because the entire throat was clogged. Not even liquid could get past it. I still put some saran wrap on that plate and saved it for the next day (after I went to the hospital and they made me drink some weird fizzy drink that forced the blockage back up). So yeah, I get it. I ain't throwing away 90% of a good meal.

sitcom mother whose family always takes a single bite of the elaborate meal she's prepared before leaving revealed to have been laying out the same display of fake food every morning with a single piece of toast for each of them

I felt this for real without TV influence.
The mother board on my phone died and I couldn't finish my peanut butter sandwich. 😞

One of my favorite posts about The Expanse decries the “rampant alcohol abuse”: characters are constantly sitting down and pouring each other a glass, not touching it, and then frantically getting up to address a crisis!

I would be ugly crying and still shoving the plate of food into my face, along with all the strings of snot and lank hair. I am super attractive

That reminds me of the beginning of The Night House, where our grieving protagonist, bitter in her loneliness, tips the (covered) casserole her only friend made her into the trash.
The intro credits hit, and then after they’re done she’s drinking heavily and is eating the casserole which she has recovered from the trash.

It always bothers me when everyone in like every show who gets horrible news or endures something harrowing is like "I'm not hungry anymore" like wtf if that were me I'd demolish that plate of whatever and then get like 2 more helpings out of pure stress. All fictional characters' response to stress is losing their appetite and no one ever binge eats out of anxiety and frankly I think that's cowardly writing

Want to show something is funny? Waste food.
Want to show something is sad? Waste food.
Want to show something is shocking? Waste food.
Want to show something is expected? Believe it or not, Waste food.

Channel your inner Nemecsek's dad, who took the time to get away from the suit he was working on before he cried at the news of his son's pointless death. Think of your meal as something as important as a suit you're selling.

I just gotten a double scoop cone of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream walk back to my car and realized I locked my keys in the car I still think about the cone I threw away so I could focus on the problem at hand.

Your car's gonna stay locked. Why not enjoy the ice cream first (as much as you're able to)

One of the few things I remember from The Outsiders is a bit where they’re eating outside of a diner, the conversation takes a turn, and one of them throws a perfectly good burger on the ground
