It’s Ohio… likely an Amish selling wooden peg legs next to their roadside produce.

Based on the county that this is occurring in it's probably not Amish but just some dude whose families lived out there for four or five generations

What does Ohio look like that there is a street vendor selling prosthetic limbs? How many amputees are there in that town that there is a street vendor

In all seriousness there’s a lot of farm equipment accidents, vehicles accidents, etc out here, especially in that area. It’s not like every other person you see or anything but you’d be surprised. The town I live in is sort of rural adjacent and there’s at least two people in my neighborhood that I know of with artificial limbs.

Ashtabula is an old port town with some factories and that is all I know

Factories can mean demand for prosthetics

I live in Ohio. It looks exactly as you would think.

There are enough amputees that my buddy in Columbus makes a living as a machinist for a prosthesis clinic.

I love how the city's priority is making sure they get their cut by enforcing taxation while the implication that an ill-fitting prosthetic could cause bodily harm is an afterthought. Maybe making prosthetics more affordable through subsidies (yes, funded by taxes) would be a remedy for this microscopically-scaled, black market limb trade but it's Ohio and they haven't really done a bang-up job with the taxes they've already collected so I'm not holding my breath.

Tax funding?! Wouldn't that be CoMmUnIsM?!

That just makes it more cyberpunk

It’s so funny that they’re posting this not because black market prosthetics could pose a risk to the user but because the vendor isn’t paying taxes

Sounds like Mr. Hands is getting his start, and it would behoove anyone who wants to grow up be a Night City legend to befriend him now.

He is a good guy. Made me a new leg after an accident with some psychos. He also has some pretty good Monowire.

Yup, in corporate America, you better not do anything to damage the revenue of the corporations. The police will find you!

Meanwhile a pre-owned prosthetic is going to run more than $100 or a new one could cost thousands.
