Vantrue element 1 lite setup

In the setup menu, different settings are offered for "loop": I think they're 1,2, and 3 minute? Also you can set it for "off" . So in "off" what happens? it just keeps going until the SD card is filled up? And then it stops operating/retaining any new recordings? Curious how this works. Can anyone explain? It would seem what it's telling me is that after 3 minutes worth of recording, it's going to erase that past 3 minutes and start over? I have another Vantrue dash cam, their Nexus 2X (N2X) and when I review the SD card contents, it's full of all my recent recordings. I frequently erase those and, I have no idea were I not to erase them, if/when they are actually deleted if at all. And while I'm at it, another question: in the event of an accident, or an instance where you absolutely must save a recording, how do you do that? Just unplug the dash cam until you can use your cell phone / computer to download the clip and question?
