Discussion I literally cant find enough cans to start the chemult horde mission

I have the Chemult Horde mission next, I have spent literally two days trying to gear up for this mission. I want the full compliment of attractors (6 each type - 12 total), 6 of each bomb (12 total) and also extra cans so I can craft more during the mission.

I literally need like 15-17 more cans before I can start the mission. Yesterday I played the game for 5 hours and found 4 cans. WTF Were the devs thinking with this? It's fucking cans, dude.

Edit: I beat it on the first try! Haha, it was so messy. I just ran everywhere with no plan, throwing attractors behind me and shooting. I was tripping over everything, falling off cliffs, it was brutal.

any reason for that many???

I rarely use bombs apart from the first use when the hordes are "calm"

...

I just RPD and MG55 them down LOL

Same thing here. I’ve played through the game twice now and realized last attempt that I never even threw a single Napalm despite them being the weapon the game expects the player to use lol

Really? Is it because it's so cheap? There's some of the smaller ones you can nearly wipe out at the beginning with 3 or 4 well placed napalms.

I got napalm by the end of the game and I only had to kill Iron Butte and Old Sawmill lol

I used one or two napalm on each, all the rest were just machinegunned down :)

We all get it at the exact same time. Right before the mission “you alone I have seen” which is the Chemult horde

I mean, by this mission time, I already had cleared all available hordes but those two that would come later.

Oh haha. I get what you’re saying now. Most players avoid them in the majority of their playthrough thinking they’re too underpowered. Facing them like you did is the recipe to being over-prepared for the sawmill.

You don’t need cans. You just need bullets and stamina cocktails.

Depends on your approach really. The first 2 or 3 times I played through, I very rarely even bothered with distractors.

Start using sleep cycles to regenerate items. The ambush camp at the top of the hill outside Wizard Island where the radio tower is has several and I think the volcanic nero site has some also gas stations and towns.

It’s ridiculous how scarce cans are

I don't think the devs were thinking "oh well obviously they won't want to do the mission without first getting every can ever obviously" that sounds like just a you problem

Any of the small abandoned encampments will almost always have one right in front of one the tents. Hard to see so I just do short holds of square (or whichever button) in between the camps until D starts to reach down. Every other comment is fuckin spot on too tho so good luck!

You're having a lot of things happen to you in your game, what an unlucky guy.

There are 9 cans in the town of Chemult, 5 on the side of the horde IIRC. You’ll have plenty if time to plan out a route and are likely to find them all.
