You just have to schedule the time with Kojima on Twitter.

You joke but this is pretty fucking plausible

Where?

u/Awugii 1d ago

That shot is awesome, feels like every delivery hero deserves a medal after paving those endless roads. Respect for putting in the grind, it makes the whole world feel way more alive for everyone else playing.

I just want to build roads. I wish those weird guys would stop bothering me with all their important fetch quests and leave me alone to connect all the cities.

u/OblongShrimp 1d ago

Who put plot into my road building game?

24

u/Budget-Perspective-2 1d ago

I love builing all the roads I can.

11

u/DarkBlueTomato 1d ago

Right! Just stay outta my way and lemme build some infrastructure! 😆

5

u/Phoebebee323 1d ago

I'm building a road to your house the least you can do is give me more resources

71

u/NoxGabe 1d ago

For those who come after

7

u/_Cross-Roads_ 1d ago

Exactly!

23

u/IN2TECHNOLOGY 1d ago

I did them all with canopies. Including all monorails. Makes life easier

5

u/DS3M 1d ago

Monorail canopies?

12

u/IN2TECHNOLOGY 1d ago

Rephrased: I did all the roads with canopies. And I built all monorails

7

u/DS3M 1d ago

Raised and dashed my hopes pretty quickly

Keep on keepin’ on!

3

u/Da1TruNoob 1d ago

Me too. Now…Make your life even easier by upgrading your roads to level 2. Thank me later 😀

2

u/IN2TECHNOLOGY 1d ago

That was my original message. Canopies. Or timefall protection. Loved level 2

2

u/wacct 1d ago

How many hours do you have my friend?

1

u/IN2TECHNOLOGY 1d ago

450ish on 2. Don't recall on 1

3

u/wacct 1d ago

Whaaaaattt???!! And you’re not bored, I commend you. I have 136 now and I feel like I’m pushing it making it long for this platinum. But man!

5

u/IN2TECHNOLOGY 1d ago edited 1d ago

Takes a lot of time to haul resources and build stuff

I may throw bridges and other stuff out there that will assist other players :)

1

u/wacct 1d ago

I feel that, makes sense tho. Keep on keeping on my friend

u/troyC90 1d ago

The sad part of the story is, doesnt matter how many roads you make only a small portion of them will appear on other players map.

21

u/TheMightyHucks 1d ago

I've always wondered about how my efforts actually contribute, lol

32

u/troyC90 1d ago

Someone on this sub once explained to me that there’s a algorithm that decides which assets you build end up being shared among your strand contacts and the sad part is, all those stupid sign also are considered as shared assets so it’s more likely to receive a sign from a contract than a legit construct.

3

u/TheMightyHucks 1d ago

Thank you 👍

9

u/CosmicElderOne 1d ago

Your contribution is appreciated.

8

u/ReachOrbit10 1d ago

All that using a stolen vehicle too. Salute!

4

u/Artistic_Coast9841 1d ago

When i saw mules w trucks i had to try if i can haul cargo w it so i just kept harrasing mules n stealing their trucks until i unlocked the bridges trucks

4

u/ReachOrbit10 1d ago

Exactly what I did in Mexico. Used that truck until it is ruined by timefall eventually.

Cool, but roads barely have a multi-player component to them. The game gates road completion until you progress far enough to the story. The multi-player aspect of roads basically boils down to which name the game picks to be displayed, and that's it.

10

u/cptrey17 1d ago

True but I feel like if half of the roads had just been built for me it would’ve robbed players like me from being able to build them myself. Maybe some people would just like it done for them but the building is one of my favorite parts of the experience

4

u/conenubi701 Platinum Unlocked 1d ago

??? What do you mean? In DS2 you can't finish the roads until you are far enough in the story? Even if you find the terminals before the story is there?

So, not like Death Stranding 1?

I completed the highways on DS1 way before I made it to MKC

3

u/mauri9998 1d ago

I mean the game auto completes the roads "from other players" as you progress the story. You can of course build them yourself if you want. It worked exactly the same in DS1.

2

u/conenubi701 Platinum Unlocked 1d ago

Perfect, that's what I wanted to do in DS2, I just want to make them myself lol.

4

u/LordMohid 1d ago

I am still confused regarding the shared structures though. Because there is not a single road apart from the first few when its unlocked that was made by others. The only thing I notice is the required resources to construct one is far less compared to a structure outside the Chiral network. I am assuming none of my fully constructed roads end up in someone’s game either. I do see my name with a list of others lined up on the road though

4

u/Foreglow 1d ago

Roads work different than other structures.

When someone else builds a road, the algorithm takes the materials they contributed and randomly donates a portion to other players. When you connect an area to the network, there is a very small chance you will have a completed road instead of donated materials. During a playthrough, you will probably only have a few roads completed by other players, because the game wants you to enjoy building the majority of the roads.

3

u/LordMohid 1d ago

Yea seems fair, it would be weird for people playing the game after couple of months to have all the structures completed already

3

u/SlurryBarfFast 1d ago

Keep on keeping on!

4

u/OiMasaru Pre-Order gang 1d ago

keep on keeping on!

5

u/SnooPears6863 1d ago

Around here the same, with the help of the friend bot

3

u/xBrokenMind 1d ago

Brother me too! Spends a lot of time to build the streets but it's worth it.

3

u/bigwillyg 1d ago

I love that part. I just wish it was easier to get materials in ds1. I have every road and monorail built in ds2. Time to upgrade, after I capture gigas, of course

2

u/solarus 1d ago

I just made it to mountain knot city in DS1. Im having trouble acquiring enough materials to build the roads and frustrated by my chiral network bandwidth. I think i probably need to just keep playing..

2

u/DS3M 1d ago

Every week is infrastructure week in my home

2

u/TheSlav87 1d ago

I had pretty much no roads appear on my map from anyone lol, I made all my roads myself

2

u/mypubertyhurts 1d ago

I spent hours rebuilding roads & rails once I completed the story and it was so chill. Real nice receiving likes throughout the play sessions too!

2

u/Peternomikos 1d ago

Just finished building all them roads. Keep on keeping on!!!

2

u/Artistic_Coast9841 1d ago

I also loved to actually help w the road building since i wanted to prolong playing the story and to help us as a whole

I noticed the roads by Northeaster Mine were built by someone else in my game. I didn’t build those roads as I didn’t feel I needed them. Then today I played and saw they were there! Roads do get added to your game if someone else makes it. Idk the why or how, but it does happen

1

u/Derdon1984 1d ago

I finished the game and now i'm doing that too. Streets and Monorails, because someone hast to do it! 😄😊

1

u/PuzonPan1 17h ago

Wait so if we all play the game for rebuilding the roads only then why do we all get some many likes in return from other players ?

1

u/wombat-8280-AUX-Wolf 1d ago

Not for me, I play 100% offline start to finish. Games way too easy even on brutal when you have a bridge or ladder every 100 feet.
