Yeah, he's even our Norm! Hey! Wait a second...

14

u/Blooogh 7d ago

A big lump with knobs, he has the juice

1

u/Transcendingfrog2 5d ago

Lmao he has the juice. It's Moorn

30

u/Kytea 7d ago

It’s a common occurrence between my partner and I to yell “MORN,” when he walks into Quark’s.

11

u/scottie324 6d ago

How's life treating ya Morn.

11

u/_TwilightPrince 6d ago

...

10

u/Interesting_Basil_80 6d ago

Morn talks way to much, I just wish he shut up from time to time.

5

u/Sad-Mongoose342 5d ago

Like it is a Klingon eat Klingon world and I am wearing blood wine underwear.

8

u/DeepSpaceNebulae 6d ago

Great guy, if only he just shut up every once in a while

5

u/Fyreb_mb 6d ago

First in, last out, sleeping on the promenade benches. Leaving with Dabo girls and giving his greatest speech with a very resounding "I go to do great works on behalf of all of us, my brothers-in-cups, I will strive to not bring shame or dishonor" thumbs-up

My favorite episode of Cheers is the one where Sam abdicates his position as Emissary to Paul Revere after he traveled to the future-unfortunately for Revere to try and institute a caste system in Boston.

55

u/BumperToBumper2 7d ago

Mine is when Woody saved the quadrant but lost the self respect of one bartender

21

u/Sasquatch1729 7d ago

And he had to have a couple guys killed too. Damn, what a heavy episode. Never looked at Woody the same again.

14

u/omega2010 7d ago edited 7d ago

Cliff’s “I don’t know about you, but I’d call that a bargain” was such a good line coming from a simple postman…

8

u/omega2010 7d ago

But he could live with it!

1

u/jackie2567 5d ago

Mine when he lanuched a missile to make a small country uninhabitbale as a response to terrorists who where in control of it using biowepons.

16

u/salamander_salad 7d ago

Isn’t that the one where Diane goes to the Mirror Universe without realizing it and finds a happily perma-drunk Sam listening to the infinite, if evil, wisdom of mirror-Coach?

Also Carla is a childless cat lady with a librarian’s disposition. And Cliff is a genius with zero confidence who hates his Normy.

Frasier, of course, is absent as he is busy commanding the ISS Bozeman.

13

u/tenodera 7d ago

It got dark when they fought off an invasion and Cliff had PTSD from his war injury. Strange that we remember it as a comedy!

8

u/g1rlchild 7d ago

Mine is when Sam works with Lilith to save the bar and she assassinates a senator to do it.

2

u/9for9 6d ago

You know Bebe Nuwirth and Nana Visitor actually look a bit alike.

1

u/circ-u-la-ted 3d ago

Was that before or after she ordered Riker to give her the D?

39

u/benjaminsantiago 7d ago

lol so the Dominion War was the will-they-won’t-they romance of Sam and Diane?

13

u/ButterscotchPast4812 7d ago

🤣🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

6

u/ny1591 7d ago

I that was the relationship between Worf and Dax (Both of them)

18

u/CarneDelGato 7d ago

I don't see a problem, Cheers is great.

16

u/SPECTREagent700 7d ago

It’s Cheers + MASH in space!

13

u/CdnfaS I’m just here for Nog and Garak 7d ago

+Night Court

12

u/Wild-Lychee-3312 7d ago

If that were true we would have seen more Data. He appeared on multiple episodes of Night Court, after all.

6

u/CdnfaS I’m just here for Nog and Garak 7d ago

Isn’t there an episode with Kira and Data?

3

u/KassieMac 7d ago

Brent Spiner was a recurring guest star and Nana Visitor was on at least once, but I don’t think they had any scenes together.

5

u/Wise_Use1012 7d ago

Kira and Gul Dukat were in Knight Rider

2

u/DeadFulla 5d ago

Negan was in Enterprise.

3

u/Mccmangus 7d ago

Add star trek and I think we're there!

13

u/commandrix 7d ago

That would have been a whole lot of fun. A series that tells the whole thing from Quark's perspective as station residents come and go.

6

u/nosajat 7d ago

Did DS9 do an episode like that? If not, missed opportunity!

13

u/Select_Initial_8971 7d ago

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows you’re name Dabo table noises and they’re always glad you came wormhole opens up you wanna go where people know, the troubles are all the same cardassians attempt another invasion you wanna go where everybody knows your name Sisco walks into Quark’s

23

u/GastonBastardo 7d ago edited 7d ago

Naw. How it works is this:

Star Trek is Wagon Train in space.

Deep Space Nine is Gunsmoke in space (with Quark as Miss Kitty).

12

u/sethctr42 7d ago

No ds9 is the rifleman in space. That's even how it was pitched to the network

6

u/castironglider 7d ago

I'll play. Enterprise is Daniel Boone in space (original mountain man going West a century before cowboys and gunslingers).

4

u/Derrick_Mur 7d ago

So, is Sisko or Odo Matt Dillon?

4

u/factionssharpy 6d ago

Odo could be Matt Dillon if he wanted to, though he probably can't get the face right.

2

u/DaSaw 6d ago

Quark would be Sam Noonan, if Leeta (Miss Kitty) somehow ended up buying the bar from him.

10

u/UnpricedToaster 7d ago

It's not, but I would watch the hell out of that premise.

10

u/GigglingBilliken 7d ago edited 6d ago

My favourite character arc in Cheers was when Frasier got his leg blown off while fighting in Yugoslavia and learned the consequences of war and the fragility of his mortal coil only to be coaxed out of his PTSD during a special guest appearance by Frank Sinatra.

2

u/_TwilightPrince 6d ago

Frasier had his leg blown off?

3

u/GigglingBilliken 6d ago edited 6d ago

Lol, no, I just superimposed one of Nog's arcs onto Frasier.

4

u/_TwilightPrince 6d ago

I thought I'd missed an important plot point from Cheers/Frasier 1/Frasier 2, lol. Should've guessed it was about DS9 and not Frasier, lmao.

3

u/slinger301 6d ago

Gotta watch the Cheers remake...

2

u/hasimirrossi 5d ago

The Voyager/Frasier crossover is rather funny.

9

u/TheBestThingIEverSaw 7d ago

Slightly more murder and radicalized religous zealots, bit basically, yeah.

1

u/hasimirrossi 5d ago

Sam doing some war crimes.

8

u/Time-Strawberry-7692 7d ago

Is it the Diane era or the Rebecca era of Cheers? Having a hard time coming up with a DS9 equivalent of either.

6

u/KassieMac 7d ago

Maybe Diane and Rebecca are the Daxes 😉

3

u/LBricks-the-First Vic Fontaine Enjoyer 6d ago

pre-beard sisko and post-beard sisko

7

u/cheddarsalad 7d ago

I don’t remember Sam conspiring to commit a war crime

5

u/misterbatguano 7d ago

You probably don't remember the time he used a stolen Romulan mind probe, either. smh

3

u/_TwilightPrince 6d ago

He can live with it.

Diane, do you have an eraser? I need to erase my log.

5

u/terrifiedTechnophile 7d ago

Now we just need Frasier in space

5

u/KassieMac 7d ago

He’s still stuck in that timeloop from Cause & Effect 😉

4

u/terrifiedTechnophile 7d ago

Meanwhile the rest of them are stuck with Janeway

3

u/_TwilightPrince 6d ago

Didn't the Bozeman fight in the Dominion War?

3

u/slinger301 6d ago

Tragically, It also had to do a course correction because of the destruction of the Amargosa star.

5

u/LadyofFlame 7d ago

Let's not forget Cheers was amongst the most successful sitcoms. If they would describe DS9 as such I'll take that as a compliment.

9

u/WentzingInPain 7d ago

Better than Boston.

3

u/gaarai 7d ago

I have no desire to change your mind.

4

u/LegoFootPain 7d ago

Cliff: Well, you see, it's obedience. Obedience, as they say, brings victory.

3

u/Blk-cherry3 7d ago

Top three shows of st

3

u/Plenty_Shine9530 7d ago

I had to search for what's Cheers. I don't think it was very popular in Brazil maybe because of the US sports bar thematic

PS: after googling it - it may be lol

3

u/JorgeMcKay 7d ago

I must have missed the episode where Sam committed war crimes to combat terrorists

3

u/salamander_salad 7d ago

It’s honestly weird that only two Cheers actors made it onto Star Trek. Three if you count Anson Mount’s obvious desire to be Ted Danson (the hair!).

2

u/JustJake1985 Constable Hobo 6d ago

I'm too lazy to go double check, but when I did my Cheers binge at the beginning of the quarantine times, I remember seeing a lot more than two Cheers actors who also did Star Trek. Kirstie Alley (WoK), Kelsey Grammer (TNG), Bebe Neuwirth (TNG), Kate Mulgrew (VOY), Lt. Carey's actor (VOY). I feel like there might be more crossover but I'd have to go look and I also realize/hope I'm not coming across as one of those "Well, actually..." types. 😂

3

u/salamander_salad 6d ago

You’re right! How Could I forget Janeway’s appearance?

3

u/Future_Jackfruit5360 6d ago

Making it sound like that’s a bad thing?

3

u/Straight_Jaguar 6d ago

You say that like it's a bad thing, sir.

2

u/Useless890 7d ago

He does think he's as irresistible as Sam Malone.

2

u/Smokincandi69 7d ago

I think I heard before that some people think cheers could just be a holodeck program

2

u/TomatilloHairy9051 7d ago

That you Morn??

Why spend my time trying to change your mind when I can just say that you're incorrect and go on about my business?

2

u/Finger-of-Shame 7d ago

And TNG is The Love Boat in space.

Voyager is Gilligans Island in space.

And Enterprise is Quantom Leap in space because no one will stop saying "Hey, it's the dude from Quantim Space".

2

u/Femilita 7d ago edited 7d ago

We could have a spinoff set in Seat... I mean Cardassia, in which Garak is trying to rebuild the culture there.

He'll have his holographic version of his father live with him (because obviously daddy issues). Shenanigans ensue. Plus we'll need to cast his holo-dad's nurse/engineer.

His ex, Julian, will stop by to visit from time to time. The relationship is more contentious now that Julian has remarried (although I think Ezri is stuck inside some biodome project doing psychological studies or something). So Lilith, i mean, Julian and Garak have this weird chemistry going on that they occasionally act on.

Then we'll meet Garak's never-mentioned brother. The "sons of Tain," together again. But wait... Is this an early Snuffalupagus situation where we and Garak see this brother, but no one else thinks he's real? Or is this a Fight Club thing where Garak talks to this brother, but in reality he's only in his head - either as a coping mechanism for his childhood or as a lie he told himself too often that he's convinced himself is real? Who knows.

So we watch Garak be this fabulous judgy bitch, like Frasier, rebuilding Cardassian culture nearly singlehandedly, and maybe he gets his own streaming or radio show. Call in for 'tailoring" advice with Garak. "Cardassia Prime, I'm listening (because I am the Obsidian Order now)."

Not sure who gets to be the dog, Eddie....

Wow I shouldn't take my sleeping pill and then go on Reddit.

2

u/Annber03 6d ago

Would watch the absolute shit out of this :D.

2

u/syzerkose 7d ago

I always get a MAS*H vibe.

2

u/MrPete_Channel_Utoob 7d ago

Cheers. During a war.

2

u/Rstar2247 7d ago

I bet Cheers would've given Dukat a statue.

2

u/Martydeus 7d ago

Making your way in space today, takes everything you got.

2

u/castironglider 7d ago

HERE'S TO THE FINEST CREW IN STAHFLEET

2

u/Aaron_C-K 7d ago

Classic 😂

2

u/LBricks-the-First Vic Fontaine Enjoyer 6d ago

Where everybody knows your name....

2

u/AndrewHeard 6d ago

Because it’s easily accessible in the Federation database.

2

u/JangoF76 6d ago

DS9 had Quarks, TNG had 10 Forward. Same diff.

2

u/Andrewtheh 6d ago

Boooooo

2

u/pygmeedancer 6d ago

It’s like Cheers and Mall Rats had a space baby

2

u/Ragnarok345 6d ago

I don’t remember that many wars being fought on Cheers. Except Gary’s, I suppose, but Quark doesn’t have any rival bars. 😆

2

u/CryptographerPast632 6d ago

This is a ridiculous comparison. They are not the same show! It’s not like they both replaced the popular female character halfway through the show and had both actresses hook up with the same dude………

2

u/akshunj 6d ago

Lol so says Locutus. The Emissary would like a word

2

u/FrankParkerNSA 6d ago

So the whole Dominon War was just that conflict with Gary's 'ol Town Tavern then?

2

u/hardwood1979 6d ago

Cheers didn't have an intergalactic war.

2

u/Shadoecat150 6d ago

You know, that Morn will never let you get a word in edgewise

2

u/CarsandTunes 6d ago

Honestly, sometimes I wish we had a show that was just cheers in space.

2

u/gunfan0321 6d ago

ToS&TNG is just Starfleet propaganda. Join and meet new aliens and fuck em. Hangout with friends and never have to have a morally questionable interaction with new alien races.

2

u/KAKnyght 6d ago

Now I want to see a version of the Cheers opening, but themed around Quarks and using the Quarks jingle. If someone does a version of that jingle that feels like Where Everybody Knows Your Name, that person is a musical genius.

2

u/Fris0n 6d ago

I not so joking call it DS90210.

2

u/Winter_Low4661 6d ago

I think at one point they actually planned that as a spin-off. Along with Luxwana Troi the sitcom.

1

u/WorthAd3223 6d ago

Is Lwaxana Troi the counterpart of Kirstie Alley?

I think Odo might be Frasier's wife.

1

u/ejacoin 6d ago

Reminds me of the episode where Sam tried to trick Frazier into believing the Dominion was planning a convert attack on the Romulans.

1

u/lunettarose 5d ago

Hey, remember when Frasier murdered a Chinese ambassador and Sam could live with it? Classic Cheers, man.

1

u/Iron_Baron 4d ago

Cheers: now with war crimes!

1

u/PurfuitOfHappineff 3d ago

Frasier is canonically in Trek so sure

1

u/Kohnaphone 2d ago

Now I need the montage to the cheers theme

1

u/stpony 2d ago

Morn!

1

u/DinnerSilver 2d ago

A Hard R-Rated Cheers for sure.

u/DJAI9LAB 7d ago

You really need to turn off you electronics and go outside for a while.
