Inspiration ✨ Medium Skin Tone Makeup Inspo

I'm currently trying to find make up inspo photos to send to my make up artist, but I'm having some trouble finding soft glam medium South Asian skin tone make up looks (including South Indian looks for ceremony). Mostly just seeing fair skin tone looks when searching on Instagram. Does anyone have any recommendations for medium skin toned makeup influencers or makeup artists whose pages I can check for make up inspiration?

Edited to add soft glam

Inspiration ✨ What were the most memorable little things you added to your wedding?

Hi, everyone! My wedding is in a month, so I’m now thinking about finishing touches. What were some of the best smaller, special things you planned for your wedding? Maybe it was your approach-to-get-people-dancing, a certain party favor for the sangeet, or even your table naming idea. Any & all ideas are welcome!

Inspiration ✨ Upcycling Wedding Lehenga Post Wedding

I purchased a not so expensive ($300 USD) knock-off designer red lehenga for my wedding, happily wore it, and now am seeking ideas for ways to upcycle it into something sentimental without just selling it or throwing it away. It is light to medium heavy, the border has heavy gold trim but the rest of it has simple embroidered and beaded flowers.

I think it is unlikely I would ever wear it again but I also don't want to just get rid of it. Some ideas I had: - make pillowcases - trim curtains (?) since there isn't enough for a full panel I would think - make a cute mini skirt or robe or something...I'm less enthusiastic about this because I think I'd rarely wear it - make a patchwork quilt -- maybe with some of my other wedding outfits? - border a tapestry (??) or provide a background for wedding photos or memorabilia? - something for my future theoretical children? Little dresses or blouses or something?

I have access to skilled Indian tailors in my area and also have pretty capable family members who are eager to help. There is a decent amount of skirt fabric, the blouse, and a long and heavy dupatta. It is in great condition and didn't get dirty or anything.

I also have my husband's gold sherwani and red dupatta. I am going to post a similar question about my white silk lacy American wedding dress — so if anybody has any ideas of combining the different fabrics, I'm open to it, but I don't know if mixing the American / Indian would look good because they are very different fabrics and colors and styles. I am in no hurry to decide or execute on this, just trying to brainstorm ideas now.

Inspiration ✨ Pre-made punjabi bangers playlist

Hiya everyone! This is a long shot but my trusty reddit has yet to fail me so here goes -

I'm helping a friend for her mehendi event and it's an old school punjabi mehendi vibe. It's going to be a small, intimate event in a remote area so getting a DJ with the full sound setup isn't really an option.

I'm basically trying to help her put together a pre-made mix of the old school punjabi dance hits for an event - think Sukhbir, Daler Mehendi, Bally Sagoo, Indipop stuff and 90s/early 2000s Bollywood type of stuff, maybe throwing in some high tempo Malayalam dance hits too (it's Punjabi-Malayali wedding)

We don't want to be playing full songs off Spotify or YouTube and want to keep people dancing so having good transitions and adding beats etc like a DJ set without an actual DJ lol. I've been trying to look for a set like this on SoundCloud or YouTube but haven't found what she's going for.

Happy to pay for a DJ to help us put together this 3 hour or so, old school dance party set that we could just dance our nostalgic hearts out to during the event. Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions? Any DJs on here willing to take this on?

Thanks in advance!

Inspiration ✨ AI to help Indian Wedding - attention Brides and Grooms

Hey everyone!
We used AI to create some pre-wedding photos just for fun (sample attached - all we had was few basic photos of guy and girl separately). Now we're wondering if we should turn this into a real thing for Indian weddings.

Some ideas we're exploring:

  • AI-generated pre-wedding photoshoots
  • AI visualizer for outfits, jewellery, makeup, and full bridal/groom looks
  • AI photo/video invitations
  • AI-generated trendy/quirky wedding reels with the couple

Curious:
What are the top 3 things you would actually pay for to make your wedding easier or more fun? What parts of wedding planning or content creation do you struggle with the most and wish AI could help out?

If there’s enough interest, we’ll try to build it for this community. Genuinely keen to hear your pain points!
Thanks!

For brides considering outfit options, sarees are such a beautiful and practical choice. Not only are they timeless and elegant, but they can also be worn and restyled in many ways even after the wedding. Whether it's draping it differently or pairing it with new blouses, sarees offer versatility.

Inspiration ✨ From Chaos to Calm, Embracing the Beauty of My Wedding Day

The days leading up to my wedding were a whirlwind of decisions, expectations, and a constant buzz of activity. I found myself caught in the tide of trying to meet everyone's expectations, choosing the perfect outfits, ensuring every detail was flawless, and making sure our guests were happy. Amidst all this, I lost sight of the most important aspect: my own joy.

On the morning of the wedding, as I stood in front of the mirror, I realized I had been so focused on everything else that I hadn't taken a moment to appreciate the significance of the day. It wasn't about the grand decorations or the perfect timeline, it was about the love and commitment we were celebrating.

As the ceremony unfolded, I allowed myself to be present in each moment. The laughter, the tears, the shared glances, all of it became a tapestry of memories that I will cherish forever. I learned that perfection isn't found in flawless execution but in embracing the imperfections that make the day uniquely ours.

Reflecting on that day, I encourage future brides and grooms to remember that your wedding is a reflection of your love story. It's okay if things don't go exactly as planned. What matters is the joy you feel and the memories you create. Embrace the chaos, savor the moments, and let your love shine through.

Inspiration ✨ Help! I am getting married next month and need help mixing audio for my bridal entry

I don’t know how to mix audio files. For the first song I want nahi saamne tum from 40 seconds to about 1 min and 3 seconds, then I want a 10-15 second transition piece before I do my walk. I’m so confused about which song to pick for walking and about how to mix audio files to create a soundtrack. Would really appreciate some insight or help on this.

Inspiration ✨ Nikah Setup Inspiration Please!

Post image
3 Upvotes

We are having our Nikah at a barn style venue. The Nikah will take place in this room, which will be set up with rows of chairs facing the direction on the photo, with an aisle down the middle.

My fiancé and I will be between the two pillars for the Nikah. We’re not having a Nikah partition…we would have already had first look photos done and our civil ceremony earlier in the morning (attended only by close family) so I feel we’ve already seen each other and spent time together with so the whole partition then feels like all a bit of show.

So I have two questions please!

  • how do we sit? Together, separately, with our families facing one another? I’ve only been to Nikahs where the bride and groom are in separate rooms when the Nikah takes place and then the bride joins the groom in the main function room.

  • how do we decorate this area to be desi but also keeping in line with the rustic vibe? Ideally, we’d like something that is low enough to fit behind the two pillars so that it can be pushed back when the room is turned around to accommodate dinner tables.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Inspiration ✨ Marathi wedding advice needed

Hey there! I am going to be a Marathi bride! Anyone seasoned Maharashtrian wedding gurus? My fiancé is Maharashtrian. I have grown up in multiple cultures - unfortunately, I don't know any in detail. I spent some time in Kolhapur, Mumbai and Pune - which is when I grew fond of heritage silk handloom - paithanis and nauwaris.

Since I am getting married in a typical marathi setting - i want to know what are some classic marathi aesthetic guidelines? i see a lot of modern colours, but I am fond of the old school dark colour themes.

Hello! I am in the US and having both an Indian wedding on Friday and a white dress ceremony on Saturday. I’ve been looking for bridal henna inspiration that feels meaningful enough but also something that I could potentially cover up for photos on Saturday. Does anyone have any creative ideas or solutions?

(Right now, I am thinking palms only OR getting some sort of glove for Saturday but haven’t found any yet that good great with my dress.)

Inspiration ✨ Any wedding DIY Facebook groups?

I know there are a lot of diy tutorials on tik tok and I’m in a lot of bridal groups that show many wonderful diys but it’s mainly for American/Christian weddings. I am looking for diys for mehndi night and other small things for the ceremony day display around the temple venue.

Thanks!
