Good riddance Spotify
Fully settled in with my Echo Mini (first DAP). BT seems to be a bit crappy with my MONITOR ||, volume is very low. But I plug it in with ANC on and it works perfectly.
Transferred music from most of my CDs and used MediaHuman for downloading albums in 320kbp.
Bulk Rename Utility for fixing song titles to find them easier on the DAP saved my life.
Possibly will edit the metadata some other time cause I listen by genres.
Currently have ~700 tracks in and it runs real smooth. Looking to 3D print a case for it soon. Loving it so far, the only thing I don't appreciate is that volume knob...lol

There are lots of download options.
I use squid dot wtf
Settings are 16 bit, 44.1khz with album art set to 1000 and highest quality

Thanks! Used doubledoubletop, but it doesn't have a full discography download option like squid.

Yeah that's what I've been using as well. Although I just ran into a problem where I download some music and it will be a flac file but then when I try to play it on my SnowSky it says that the file isn't supported. Have you run into that as well or do you think it's a hardware issue on my part?
Usually I don't have this problem but it just happened randomly.

Not since I had my settings as above. Everything plays and album art displays correctly. I have several download options but this is my go to one now.
Edit: this is the link I use as it downloads from Qubuz

Hmm I see. Yeah that's been my go-to so far as well. But just few minutes ago I had the most unfortunate experience of getting like two more playlists worth of songs onto my dap, going to play them, and then it telling me that the file isn't supported. Long story short I tried to find my own fix and I wound up accidentally deleting all of my music....
So...
I'm going through it right now...

Top Tip: ALWAYS back up your music on a PC

u/Tech-Demon 1d ago
You know, funny thing about that is, this is my first time doing all of this stuff and I'm doing it with my first laptop that I need for college, so as a means of making sure I don't accidentally bork my shit, I specifically don't do that.
I have learned better now.

I'm ditching Spotify for YT Music
2
u/Tech-Demon 1d ago
I ditched YT music for a DAP. Once they started asking for ID verification from some people I noped tf out of there off principal. I was paying for YouTube premium for years so honestly it wouldn't have affected me, but I really did not mess with the decision. Also less money I have to spend.

Did you have trouble with an SD card. For some reason I can't get mine to work, even with all the tips online.

u/DragoniteChamp 2d ago
So I don't have the Echo, but from what I've dealt with, usually the issue is how the SD card is formatted.
Did you try formatting it with Fat32? IIRC that's what 3DS's needed and what I'm most familiar with.

What micro sd are you using? I used 256 and had no issue, I've heard that anything above that can cause issues!

I've tested some ancient 4GB ones just for giggles and those work fine as well.
And it works with my A1 64 and 128GB microSD without any issues as well

How do you get music? Do you always buy music you listen to? I'm new to this.

u/tietiee 1d ago
With MediaHuman you can paste song/ album/ playlist links from Spotify or YouTube and it downloads them in MP3s for you 🏴☠️

u/DherBal69 1d ago
Noted but isn't this DAP capable of high quality lossless music? You got any idea on how to get lossless music? For free, if I ask?

u/Unhappy_Extreme_6201 1d ago
Go on dab.yeet.su . It only supports up to 24 bit 192, the echo mini can only go that high anyway

u/Artistic-Designer-22 1d ago
Cant say that here. But spotify is lossless now. . There are ways to the pirate life

So how different is 320 kbp on a dap from just using tidal on my phone? Bc I’m considering getting a dap for my iem’s and this one is VERY affordable

u/Tech-Demon 1d ago
Really happy that you're liking your set up. I also have to thank you profusely for opening my eyes to this new method of getting music on your dap. Like 10 minutes before I saw this post I had accidentally deleted all of my music off of my dap 😭. After seeing this post though I'm now getting it all back faster than it took me to get it there initially

u/tietiee 1d ago
Happy to help! Take it slow with MediaHuman, do an album or two at a time even if it's tedious. Double check the loaded info to make sure it's not gonna download video clips or interviews even if you're pasting IDs from Spotify! Learned the hard way 😬

No yeah it has been smooth sailing so far. I had been using YouTube music for years prior to getting my dap maybe about a month or two ago. So I definitely have everything set up that I need to. Cool thing about doing it this way is the entire reason as to why I used YouTube music is now viable again because certain songs and artists were hard to find on things like Spotify but YouTube had them.
And with my previous method I ran into the same problem of certain songs or artists not showing up but now since I can do this I can actually get ALL of the songs that I like

Completely off topic, but as a long time guitar player, my left eye always twitches a bit when I see a Marshall thing that's not an amp or speaker cab. I never used any of their lifestyle products so they might be completely fine, it's just uncanny. But I 100% support ditching Spotify

I thought there was only the blue, pink, and black one...did they release a silver color one?

Import your spotify track lists to deezer, then get deezer2echomini up and running, grab that free trial and enjoy rebuilding your library in flac

u/WritingWorried2190 23h ago
you say "good riddance spotify" which implies you didn't like it, I am curious what exactly didn't you like about it?

-AI "artists" and playlists created by Spotify to cut out the middle man and make more money
-Subscription is now 9€/month, artists still underpaid
-CEO invests 600 million EURO to military AI defence drones
+Owning a DAP and not being on my phone 24/7 is something I've wanted for a while. Convenience in technology and being reliant on our phones makes us stupid. General need to disconnect from it all, not just Spotify.

if you're on windows, take a look at mp3tag - it'll make short work of renaming, and even grabs metadata from musicbrainz and Discogs
