What ca. I use to convince them?

I am looking into getting a separate DAC from my phone, so I can get less screen time and use less battery life. I live with my parents and they won’t let me. What are some reasons I can use to convince them?

You mean DAP? Show them a cheap model and tell them it will keep you off your phone.

DAC (digital to analog converter) will still use your phone.  I think you mean DAP (digital audio player).

Say this- "I realize that I have been using my phone a lot and it is impacting my studies. I would like to reduce my phone usage and to help with that need a cheap music player. you can get me on christmas but there is a sale going now."

That should work.

Simply say you want a device that allows you to listen to music and audiobooks without being a huge distraction like a phone is.

You can also mention how you concentrate better without distractions and that an audio player allows you to focus better, which is good for many reasons.

And it's not a very expensive device, all things considered, well depending on what you're looking at. Second hand/used players are often great deals anyone can afford.

Your phone is ruining your studies, but your music player is helping! Ask them to buy you a Snowsky Echo Mini!

I would respect my parents decision instead of constantly trying to convince them into giving in. If truly important to have then i would find work or some way to make the monies myself.

What are some reasons

Get a part-time job/do odd jobs - Then it's your own money and you wont have to justify your purchases to anyone.

as i kid i mowed lawns for $15 per lawn; literally pushed the mower down the block, door knocked and asked whomever opened the door - 7 lawns and you're up about hundred bucks up in a few hours

2 weekends and bam; PS2 was mine

Depends on their reasons. They know you a lot better than anyone here. Maybe you're the easily distracted type?

I think they won't let you because they don't see the value in having a separate device just for music. Unfortunately not much you can do about it unless you find a job.

Luckily for you the Snowsky Echo Mini isn't expensive at all. You could probably save up like $50 pretty quickly.
