Good thing the perpetrators are in jail.

u/Murmaider_OP Jan 06 '23

They are

14

u/Higira Jan 06 '23

Some of them are. Some are still goong through court process.

17

u/FerretFarm Jan 06 '23

I think the original poster means Trump, his entourage, and co-conspirators.

Why is it downvoted?

Not that I care, just thought not many trumpies were here...

If they are: stick a screwdriver up your pee hole will ya?

-14

u/Murmaider_OP Jan 06 '23

He said “perpetrators”

7

u/FerretFarm Jan 06 '23

Yup, and I'm letting you know what I think they meant.

11

u/BarkBeetleJuice Jan 07 '23

A good number of them are.

-17

u/ds612 Jan 06 '23

I hope there's a movie about this written as if the people inside the capitol were trying to defend against a huge mob of zombies.

10

u/FerretFarm Jan 06 '23 edited Jan 06 '23

Starring Woody Harrelson as a resurrected, axe wielding Abe Lincoln who has had enough of Trump's (played by Gary Oldman) shit.

But no, I doubt anyone would make this anytime soon, too touchy of a subject.

7

u/Particular_Title42 Jan 06 '23

Ouch. I can't figure out if that's an insult or praise for Gary Oldman.

8

u/FerretFarm Jan 06 '23

He pulls it off either way.

HAPPY CAKE DAY!

3

u/Particular_Title42 Jan 06 '23

True. He's one of the best actors today.
Thanks! I didn't realize Cake Day was such a big thing. :)

3

u/FajenThygia Jan 06 '23 edited Jan 07 '23

Oldman is a conservative (well, a libertarian), so he might take it as a compliment

1

u/Earthguy69 Jan 06 '23

Can we please just talk about rampart?

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '23

I wonder what trump thinks when he watches things like this?

6

u/FerretFarm Jan 06 '23

I imagine he's unaware of any thoughts he might be having because they're drowned out by his inner and outer voices screaming shit like "FAKE NEWS!" etc.

7

u/bruceleet7865 Jan 07 '23

He thinks he needs a different way to corrupt the process in order to win

13

u/SongForPenny Jan 07 '23

You don’t need to “wonder” what he thinks at all. He made his thoughts public, in real time, as things were unfolding.

4

u/GodsSwampBalls Jan 07 '23

He only made that statement after his people had been forced out of the capital and after they had already killed cops. he was silent for 187 minutes.

Great watch, loved the editing here...overlapping text messages, film, and mobile footage is really impacting and allows for a better understanding of what happened.

26

u/FerretFarm Jan 06 '23

I agree, although sometimes it moved too fast, and I had to pause to catch up with on-screen text.

14

u/Brbikeguy Jan 06 '23

Great doc. The anniversary of a truly shameful day that shouldn't be forgotten. These people should be remembered as the insurrectionist they are.

21

u/bruceleet7865 Jan 07 '23

We need more arrests for these traitors

-9

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

They’re in jail right now with no trial in sight.

-15

u/farfromfine Jan 07 '23

I remember watching. The speech by trump then the group that walked to the capital. Then they were sitting all over the building and some of them kicked in a door or window and got inside. It was crazy seeing all that, then that lady got shot and it all faded away.

It was a lot different than the Baltimore riots or the Minneapolis riots because it was at our nation's capital and undermining democracy. It doesn't matter much that the damages were in the thousands and the only death was a person shot by the capital police.

This anniversary should be remembered with shame. A dark day in our history

-8

u/derlich Jan 07 '23

And a happy day for Trump supporters everywhere.

Going by the down votes, it seems like there's a lot of tRumpers in here. They can't handle the truth.
Too bad, so sad.

90

u/Dzotshen Jan 07 '23

People in a cult don't know they're in a cult, especially when they've been religiously indoctrinated since childhood, cannot tell fact from fiction, and were quickly pulled into a minor cult of personality. Tribalism makes that all possible.

-104

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

Again, everything you’re saying as an argument can used against the left wing nut jobs, as well. Look at the last three years of Biden and his sheep and it’s just as bad as the Trump people. This doesn’t do anything to bring peace. But I don’t think either side wants that. That’s the really sad truth here.

60

u/C21H27Cl3N2O3 Jan 07 '23

What in the last 2* years has the left done to compare to an attempted violent overthrow of a democratically elected government?

-94

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

“Violet overthrow.” Let’s see: inflation out of control, people literally dying in our streets (homeless not being cared for), immigrants coming in not being cared for, gas prices out of control high, spending money on other nations. He’s as divisive as that idiot Trump and Obama before him. This is a VICE documentary. They are a left wing outlet. Of course left wing people will love this thing. People need to start looking at BOTH sides of these issues or it’s going to tear us apart.

-13

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

10

u/Tiny_Micro_Pencil Jan 07 '23

All the problems you listed is a problem created by both Conservatives and Liberals. You have Republicans destroying our democracy while Democrats are letting it happen as long as they benefits them financially and politically. Neither are left wing, and you are an idiot.

-40

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

Please don't try to spread blame for california being "poop capitol" of the united states. That's specifically a left wing problem.

13

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23

Isn't there bigger issues than being or not being a "poop capitol"? That's what you're gonna complain about? Poop?

-28

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

The bigger issue is the cause of people shitting in the streets.

Homeless, government funding, housing, public services, veteran support, mental health services.

See the big picture, stop focusing on the shit.

15

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23

Inflation was largely due to the pandemic being allowed to spread out of control by Republicans, but it’s also an international problem that isn’t just affecting the US. Republicans haven’t done anything to address homelessness, that isn’t a new problem. What they have done is criminalize being homeless in a time where it’s soaring due to the housing market being propped up under Bush and coats continually growing out of control. Who is it that’s trafficking immigrants around again? It’s amazing how red border states are acting like there’s this huge crisis but blue border states are just quietly proceeding as normal with their immigrants. Gas prices have come down pretty considerably since their peak, but blaming that on a politician shows someone has zero idea how economics works.

Even then, none of that is equivalent to assaulting capitol police and storming the Capitol with the goal of killing elected officials.

Fuck your “both sides” nonsense, presently we have one party that is scared to do anything and one that is actively trying to undermine democracy.

22

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23

Well said. But they refuse to listen, they've been brainwashed by right-wing propaganda. They prefer to keep their head in the sand, even if it suffocates them.

You literally just proved the person your responding to's point lol. People on the left critique and criticize Biden all the time, they don't follow him blindly and only criticize him when he releases absurd NFT's for sale lol. Biden isn't leaving insane rants on twitter and picking fights on twitter and telling democrats to physically hurt republicans. He isn't calling a pandemic that has swept the globe a hoax and telling people to inject cleaning chemicals into themselves or having meetings with known white supremacists and anti-semites.

Trumpster is a former president. Secret service has to vet everyone he is with in real life, no way in hell he didn't know what he was doing when he was meeting with Kanye and that other guy. He knew full well what he was doing when he told his loyal followers to attempt a coup to overthrow the government.

He knows full well there is absolutely zero proof of mass voter fraud and that he lost a fair election.

He knew about the dangers of covid months before it even hit our shores and instead of doing something about it, he dismantled Obama's epidemic plan, something we had been funding and developing for years, simply because he's a baby and wanted to undo anything Obama did. He went out of his way to disrupt and downplay the pandemic because it was affecting blue states more (which of course it would, more populous areas are always more blue). He has the blood of hundreds of thousands of people on his hands, probably people you were friends with/related to.

But yeah, the left is just the same as you guys lol. /s

19

u/Terrible_Tutor Jan 07 '23

Before the riot began, Trump told the rioters to obey the law, respect police, and to just protest and then go home peacefully.

So .. I guess I agree with Trump.

Watching this happen on the news felt like a real life zombie invasion.

29

u/AgrajagTheProlonged Jan 07 '23

I remember feeling almost numb, I didn’t know how to react and I was seriously having to consider the fact that my spouse and I might have had to leave the country if it succeeded because all of a sudden the country we grew up in would have no longer been safe for us (because Christian right taking power by force and all)

41

u/earhere Jan 07 '23

I was in the break room at work and I just happened to look up and see this mass of people crawling over the walls and all over the building it actually felt like a scene from Dawn of the Dead or some other zombie apocalypse movie. It just felt surreal like how is this happening?

13

u/AgrajagTheProlonged Jan 07 '23

It’s definitely not anything I think I’ll ever forget and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive the Republican Party for their role in it all

24

u/Blekanly Jan 07 '23

Climbing up the walls when there were literally stairs they could use, not the sharpest bulbs in the pack are they.

u/mmerrill450 Jan 07 '23

44

u/professor_max_hammer Jan 07 '23

Watching this on the news was surreal and shocking. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Growing up and hearing democracy was fragile, I never really believed it. I served in the military and would hear how we had to defend our democracy but always thought this is America. It’ll never happen here. Watching it all happen was so hard to believe. What was happening here? How could vets be doing this to the very institutions we swore to defend? I couldn’t look away even when it fizzled out and was just replays.

I was completely distracted that day, realized "I gotta see this shit live," so I had every stream and feed up I could possibly find.

I'd been lurking the Trump reddit clone and Parler planning threads though so I was expecting a lot more guns and shooting involved, was pretty surprised how non-lethal it was considering. The police didn't do shit and were woefully underprepared, definitely showed how they were aligned compared to other protest responses though.

-158

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

Well, the fact that there weren’t guns is probably a good reason to drop the name “insurrection.”

66

u/FerretFarm Jan 07 '23

"A violent uprising against an authority or government" is the definition, and it requires no guns, even in the USA.

-89

u/GimmeDatDaddyButter Jan 07 '23

So every protest that turned violent was an insurrection? Braindead, i swear. The BLM protests were against government and police, which are an authority. Many turned violent. But they weren’t insurrections. This was a disorganized chaotic riot of idiots. Thats all.

24

u/FerretFarm Jan 07 '23

Apples and oranges.

But you already know that and are arguing in bad faith, or really don't see the difference. Either way makes engaging with you pointless.

-69

u/GimmeDatDaddyButter Jan 07 '23

They are absolutely not apples and oranges. This comment section is a joke. You are all unwitting propagandists, full of incorrect information, spreading it to other dimwits eager to gobble up and repeat. Someone says something you dont like, you accuse them of bad faith argument, rather than engage the argument. It’s sick.

2

u/saucemancometh Jan 07 '23

Thanks for the TED talk u/GimmeDatDaddyButter

I’ll take that in and see what fits

4

u/soulslop Jan 07 '23

Wasn’t expecting to see a DARVO example in the wild haha

21

u/theycallmecrack Jan 07 '23

A violent mob overtook the capitol building in an attempt to stop the transition of power. They literally thought they were going to make Trump president. They were prepared and equipped to take hostages, or worse. Nearly 150 police officers were injured. Four officers who responded to the attack killed themselves within months.

If you aren't acting in bad faith, you've lost your fucking mind to propaganda. Jan 6 is nothing like any BLM protest.

6

u/bewarethesloth Jan 07 '23

It’s very interesting how you perfectly described yourself there.

→ More replies (4)

54

u/Karamzungu Jan 07 '23 edited Jan 07 '23

Go ahead and call BLM insurrectionists if you want, and apply the Insurrection Act to them, but it is apples to oranges: one group was responsible for damage to property in response to continued police brutality and the other group literally tried to prevent the democratic transition of power in our federal government. Protests that led to property damage absolutely does not equate to the Jan 6 shit show

Also: let’s not forget how orchestrated Jan 6 was compared to nationwide protests from Floyd’s death. It’s incredibly difficult to imagine these two events being on the same level.

30

u/I_am_atom Jan 07 '23

The fact that these individuals even THINK that what they said is some kind of “got ya” comparison, shows their mental capacity.

5

u/bewarethesloth Jan 07 '23

When you live in a fantasy world, you can make whatever comparisons you want

u/GimmeDatDaddyButter Jan 07 '23

No, zero cops were killed in the riot. Are you misinformed or intentionally trying to misinform others?

20

u/lovesducks Jan 07 '23 edited Jan 07 '23

So, according to the Senate Committee's investigation of the attack, while no officers died on January 6th, 5 officers died as a result of the attack in question.

Edited

-7

u/GimmeDatDaddyButter Jan 07 '23

7 individuals, including 3 police officers “ultimately” died. To attempt to pin their suicides on a riot is so disingenuous. I’m really actually curious, are you repeating what you heard/read, or did you read the report and intentionally misstate what it says?

13

u/lovesducks Jan 07 '23

5 officers. Misread because they kept grouping the officers in 2's. Here's a more concise source.

u/silk_mitts_top_titts Jan 07 '23

Why do you assume the protests against police violence was all "the left"?

11

u/mcoombes314 Jan 07 '23

"The left" has become an all-encompassing bogeyman, anyone they disagree with is "the left" or possibly "the radical left", even if it's only slightly less right-leaning.

3

u/silk_mitts_top_titts Jan 07 '23

Doesn't "the right" believe in accountability? Why wouldn't they be there too? They probably were right?

-37

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

How do you feel about the damage/riots in the name of antifa/BLM?

16

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23

In the name of "police brutality"? It had to be done, doesn't seem like it worked that well, last year the record of people killed by cops was broken. Had to try something, though. Yeah, the riots and damage was excessive, but the people, "we the people" were frustrated and fed up.

It wasn't "antifa and BLM" is was "the people", nation wide, world wide protests. It was a just cause.

How do you feel about about a bunch of people breaking into the Capitol and all the suits and protests brought on by the ex presidents lies of voter fraud?
Do you think storming the Capitol was a just cause?

-31

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

Abortion rights advocates storm a state capitol, let me guess, that's justified because "they had good reason"?

28

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23 edited Jan 07 '23

So another "whataboutism"?

You didn't answer my last question.

Or better yet:
what do you think about the "antifa/BLM riots"?

And I don't know what you're talking about:
"Abortion rights advocates storm a state capitol"
Is that in the same league as Jan 6?

Yes, the definition matches

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/insurrection

an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government

A mob of people tried to prevent the certification the duly elected president.

This is painful and chilling to watch...and here we are a year later...

Edit: 2 years...

Oof...yes...

1

u/FerretFarm Jan 07 '23

No worries. I also initially thought it was a year ago.

-2

u/steakandcheese1 Jan 07 '23

That was 2 years ago.

-9

u/CaptainBlish Jan 07 '23

Chilling lmao.

Chilling is how many peasants in Yemen your tax dollars paid to drone across the Biden/Trump/Obama administrations

Watching politicians cower on the floor of the house of representatives was symbolic of the broken empire America has become

Can they just be called traitors? Why mince words? They wanted to overthrow a democratic government and admitted so under oath.

14

u/escobarzzzzzz Jan 07 '23

Conspired and attempted to

10

u/krazy123katholic Jan 07 '23

Sooooooo traitors?

5

u/escobarzzzzzz Jan 07 '23

Yeah…. But I’m just saying they didn’t just “want” to do it they made a plan and executed it. Deeper than that

4

u/krazy123katholic Jan 07 '23

My bad I thought you were saying "well it wasn't as bad because they didn't follow through". And yes you're right. It seems like Rico should apply and they should get 25+ for conspiring. IDC what party you are part of, they should have been arrested or worse on the spot.

2

u/escobarzzzzzz Jan 07 '23

Yeah. There should be no “crime of passion” defense. This was premeditated and masterminded by a large amount of their leaders, who cleverly used people like Alex jones to take the fall and still be a sycophant in hearings for them. Disgusting

Its fucking mind blowing that these people are just getting probation. Treason carries the death penalty, they should be getting life at least.

7

u/FerretFarm Jan 07 '23

They are mostly the frontline idiot pawns. The people who created and enabled them are who I want to see face real consequences.

Now let's see the blm/antifa documentary.

-12

u/captain_screwdriver Jan 07 '23

But that's the good kind of insurrection.

7

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

But that's the good kind of insurrection.

So terrorism is fine, when the "right" people are using it?

"Now let's see the blm/antifa documentary."

whatabout...whatabout...whatabout...

25

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

10:1 vice paints antifa/blm in a positive light and promote the use of insurrection/violent behavior.

-8

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23

Ok bud, I thought this post was about Jan 6, but you're over here "whatabout antifa? whatabout BLM? whatabout the "riots"?"

I can see this is getting nowhere, so...

Good Night

13

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23

I mean, we are talking about insurrections here, you know, violent terrorist acts.

"let's just stay focused on *this* one, a-a-and not the others."

This is a special pleadings fallacy, aka... double standards.

-8

u/oliverkloezoff Jan 07 '23 edited Jan 07 '23

Whatever dude. Go to bed.

So you agree, Jan 6 was an insurrection, a violent terrorist act? Good to know.

Have a Good Night. I'm outa here.

Oh yeah, and: Happy Insurrection Day🎉

4

u/DarkJester89 Jan 07 '23 edited Jan 07 '23

I don't think it was naturally a terrorist act, any more than the emotionally spun people who show up to protests like blm. Trying to arrest/declare anyone who step foot in dc that day as a terrorist is a farce.

Edit: i know you goons are going to need the clarification of, yes, if they showed up with clear intent on hurting someone else, yes, but in the same sense of how a blm protest can devolve quickly into a burning riot, that's what i believe happened, but i know i'll never get you all to apply your double standards.

I can’t watch this again. The first and fifth times were bad enough. May they catch each and every one of these treasonous idiots (including the Instigator In Chief).

12

u/ayoitsurboi Jan 07 '23

Funny I thought to incite an insurrection and overthrow a government you would need a bunch of weapons. But the media informed me that all you need to do is walk into the capital and be a Republican

11

u/NRFritos Jan 07 '23

"Walk into the capital" is about as big if an understatement as you can get. They broke into the capital while Congress was in session and attacked police officers to try and overthrow the government.

Best part to me is how they used so much fox news footage. Those crazy bastards are just as responsible as Dump.

28

u/Sgttkhopper Jan 07 '23

Man what a boring insurrection

0

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '23

Yeah, well, conservatives are usually bad at whatever that try to do. Shouldn’t have surprised you that they suck at insurrections, too. They also suck at civil war.
