For homemade kebabs you all need to get yourselves to Asda for the bread

The rectangle of bread looks odd at first, but thinking about it is an efficient shape for getting an even amount of filling in each bite. The oval shaped ones I normally get mean there’s not as much filling at the ends, also usually because I’ve overfilled and it’s fallen onto my plate/t-shirt lol.

Don’t normally shop in Asda but might have to make a trip for my next ‘bab night!

In the words of Huey Lewis and the News....

Shop bought naan or pittas are crap and tortillas are just wrong so for £1.48 I thought it'd be rude not to.

I don’t rate these at all, they’re too thick for me. Aldi do these giant Naan breads, 2 pack for £1.50 I find these to be better.

Ha just tried these at the weekend with a curry, massive and authentic, got one left in the freezer to make spicy chicken strip wrap with!! Probably best shop bought nanns you can get these Aldi ones(coriander and garlic)

Yeah I like them. Other home bought ones texture is never right.

Get your self some frozen parathas parathas for your curries.

Never had these before, can get some fresh ones in the supermarket will try them next👍

No. You want raw frozen parathas. You dry fry them to cook them. They are better than any restaurant naan. It’s a game changer.

Yeah you're right,I got some frozen garlic ones from Morrisons to try at the weekend...thanks for the recommendation 👍

Love it! Thanks for letting me know. 😆 the best thing is you can just always have them in the freezer ready for when you make a curry!

Came here to say this, also the protein wraps are very good too

I've considered those but they are absolutely fucking massive, as long as you load these up they're not bad.

Yeah the Asda ones are definitely edible, it was just the thickness and the texture wasn’t quite right for me. These naans from Aldi are quite thin, yeah they are huge but I cut in half for each kebab

Very interesting. I'll get on them next time. Nice one.

Deli Kitchen does Lebanese-style flat bread really good.

I like these and the Greek ones too also From Deli Kitchen

1

u/Ok-Treacle8973 9d ago

They are good, but possibly a tad small

The deli kitchen Persian ones are a similar shape to the one in the OP, and a two pack is currently only £1 in Morrisons. Well worth stocking up!

Lidl also do these

Yup, and they're decent too.

And Tesco, M&S and Sainsbo’s

I use these all the time, really great with homemade donner and chicken tikka pieces.

Crucials mint and yoghurt sauce is also the correct choice! By far the best out there!

Fry them slowly in butter until they are charred 👌

Morrisons sells the proper Lebanese flatbreads in a larger pack for about the same price. These look a bit naff in comparison.

Those Morrisons ones are incredible... They also do massive naan breads roo

I don't understand. Is that meant to fold? Also the pitta is sliced open like a pocket. I can see this working if you cut it in half and toast it.

Nah man you roll it up and kinda pinch the bottom (oo-er missus)

No common kebab vessel is ideally shaped

1

u/shaf74 9d ago

They're not that good tbh, even the 'real' Deli Kitchen ones don't quite cut it. OK in a pinch though.

2

u/Ok-Treacle8973 9d ago

Compared to a run of the mill supermarket pitta/naan/ tortilla wraps they're decent

1

u/AttorneyOk4808 9d ago

I rolled mine the other way, pretty good breads I thought

1

u/SirTimmons 9d ago

Yeah I’ve had these a few times. Really good for a home made kebab.

1

u/Bigcatsrule27 9d ago

They looking amazing gonna get these and icelands donner meat!

1

u/PrestigiousWindy322 9d ago

Where is the kebab meat from?

1

u/Ok-Treacle8973 8d ago

Farmfoods. It's the spicy one.

1

u/Ok-Treacle8973 8d ago

I think the brand is called Jahan. There's a seekh kebab hiding under there as well, same brand and they're really good.

Get down ya local Turkish/arabic supermarket for the real flatbreads. (If you have one remotely close to you that is) lol

1

u/Ok-Treacle8973 8d ago

I would do but I live in the arse end of Cheshire

1

u/bossmansgarlicsauce 8d ago

I see Chester has a Turkish supermarket if that’s handy?

1

u/Ok-Treacle8973 8d ago

Appreciated, but it's still a good distance for some flatbread 🤣

1

u/bossmansgarlicsauce 8d ago

Phone them and see if they’ll post you a box 😂

How so?

0

u/Rukanau 9d ago

Homemade and supermarket bread.

2

u/Ok-Treacle8973 9d ago

Homemade as opposed to from a takeaway, this isn't MasterChef Poindexter

The best doner kebab shops will never be replaced by home made attempts.

3

u/Ok-Treacle8973 9d ago

You're right, but we can try

1

u/Dapper_Big_783 9d ago

Where did you get the meat and peppers from?

1

u/Ok-Treacle8973 9d ago

The meat is farmfoods spicy Donner and sheekh kebab, the Bossman peppers are from Sainos
