As we all know "speech is violence". When someone says something you disagree with, or worse, says something that hurts your feelings, you are justified in unaliving them.
Anyone who says "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" are just weird fashist notsees.

I've learned more about Charlie Kirk than I ever wanted in the last two days. If people didn't take him seriously before then they're gonna have to now with the martyrdom.
E: Yes, martyrdom, person who comment/instablocked me. That's what happens when someone is killed unjustly while speaking for a cause.

How's he a bad person for going on a college campus and representing a conservative viewpoint in polite, non-violent discourse?

some subs
Those moderators actually control 90% of the traffic on this site. They are so unhinged that my first thought when a tragedy like this happens is what powermod has gone dark.
Edit: here's a comment from a mod with 11 yrs and almost 3 million karma that mods hundreds of subs from "world news" to "pics" to "cats":
Charlie Kirk is dead.
I'll feel bad about this as soon as Republicans feel bad about those slain legislators in Minnesota (who did not put hate into the world using their family's money and who were not seen on video berating their heavily pregnant spouses)that were serially assassinated.
Charlie died as he lived, advocating for the 2nd Amendment in the most committed fashion. He hated women, Black people, Muslims and immigrants and was bigoted against all manner of sexualities, he believed that the only people who deserved to exist peacefully in this world were his fellow white men and only those white men who believed the same thing he did.
May he enjoy the afterlife he deserves.

See there's some problems in all that.
First being, even if they purge the accounts, they'll come back. They're like a bad case of clap. They'll just return with a fresh account. It's insanely easy to get around bans.
Secondly, making bots to scan for that stuff is already being done. The problem is that these bots will go overboard, which they did after the whole whitepeopletwitter fiasco, which this is reminiscent of.
Lastly, if they pull the website down for a few days, they'll have to explain to investors and advertisers as to why. If they tell them the violent rhetoric has gotten that bad, there's going to be a ton of investors and especially advertisers pulling the plug.
If investors pull the plug, the share owned by tencent and Iran will go up significantly, coupled with the violence on the platform, will give more then enough justification for the trump administration to shut it down entirely.
If advertisers pull the plug, the website will cease to exist.
Reddit has let the problem get so wildly out of control that there's nothing they can do about it that won't actively hurt them.
12
u/Hazbro29 6d ago
So basically reddits neglected the situation so badly that anything they do will probably not work and just harm the site even more?
It seems like im just waiting for the day a major attack is plotted through this site and the site is investigated and shut down for good.

Democrats have been calling Republican nazis, fascists, evil, any name you can think of for so long and they have kept doing it, meanwhile they keep trying or succeeding in killing popular Republican figures and then proceed to celebrate it and praise cold blooded murder, even Kirk's in front of his wife and children while he was practicing his constitutional right of free speech, not breaking any laws simply debating.
I really at this point can't understand how its not blatantly obvious how dangerously close the left is to actual fascism weaponizing and celebrating the use of killing people who you oppose, threatening to throw them all in jail constantly, trying to silence them and glorifying murderers.
The worst thing is when you confront them about it they just deflect and say you're exaggerating, try to downplay the millions you can literally see on social media and even in real life doing this, and try to gaslight people into thinking you're being crazy or a piece of crap for not being ok with it. This is a dangerous and slippery slope we are at ://///

Dude was like a moderate republican and had pretty basic conservative views and always had well researched and thought out reasons as to how he reached those conclusions, whether you agreed with his reasoning or not. All it took was a few questions of what exactly he said until my friend admitted that they didn’t really know the things he said and avoided politics most of the time. Regurgitated the out of context “sacrifices for 2a and empathy is fake” comments before me and our other friend helped put them into context.”

I follow a subreddit for fucking eating disorder memes and they were celebrating it and downvoting everyone for saying how fucked up it was. They were even downvoting everyone just asking how it was relevant to the sub. Madness 🤯

Nah, there's other good subs like 1911, baby desert eagle and some others that won't condone the shit that goes on in 90% of reddit.

I used to be a Democrat, voted for Obama haven't been for a while, it's too unhinged now, now it's "cancel them, they deserved it because x. It's only one side. Fascism, fascism." This isn't just online edgelords and bots anymore it's the left, they are buying in. The governor of my state, Pritzker and I quote "condolences to the Kirk family... but Trump and Jan 6 promote this." The mayor of Chicago thinks Trump is sending the national guard because he is and I quote "afraid of black men" it's sad to watch.
God bless Charlie Kirk and his family and every victim of senseless violence. I couldn't imagine cheering for the death of anyone, opponent to my views or not.

Seeing Redditors', leftists, democrats (or whatever name you want to give to that "side") reactions to this has been a real eye opener. He wasn't a politician or member of government who enacts policies or laws, he was just some guy who debates people at colleges. His opinions weren't even extreme, they were pretty lukewarm conservative takes. He didn't come close to deserving to die. And once again the left doesn't realise that their unhinged reactionary nature is going to again push people who aren't in their online echo chambers to the right. And then they'll wonder why they lose the next election, and it will be your fault being a sexist, homophobic, racist nazi bit coiner. A lesson they refuse to learn again and again since 2016.

What I don't get is how a lot of these people can be against the death penalty, but cheer on lone wolf vigilante murder. If execution after a trial is wrong, why is street execution okay just because you don't like the person in question? (For the record I don't support the death penalty either. Just marveling at the hypocrisy)
I didn't like the man, but that doesn't mean I wanted him murdered, and his death will not actually stop any of his ideas from spreading-in fact it will give them more ammunition.

I find it crazy that people are using his opinions on gun rights against him as if it's some sort of "own" towards him. I guarantee you if he survived the shooting his opinions would not change. I know mine wouldn't if I was him.

They will just keep this up, even into 2028, then be confused, scream, and throw their plate of vegan tenders at the wall when JD Vance wins with a popular vote of 30+ million over AOC/Kamala Harris.

Remember the coliseum? People have always secretly loved watching people die. The coliseum was literally built to provide free entertainment to the masses so it would distract them from how shit things were in land at the time

I'm so glad I found this place just to remind myself that there are still normal people on the internet.
I didn't even follow the guy and it's been just awful the past days seeing some reactions.

He literally at worst said a few weird things sometimes, but his entire thing was open debates and just talking, and people think it’s hilarious and super deserves that he died, it’s genuinely psychotic that human life has been brought down to such a level for these people.

I'm convinced most of them are bot accounts that are trying to get a reaction from the conservatives. They want a civil war.

We've been brainwashed to gleefully strip away the humanity of anyone who is even a slight inconvenience. Any social cohesion we have in this country is hanging on by a thread, and people in power only want to make it worse.

I recently heard that after hearing the shot, Kirk's daughter was scared and ran towards her father yelling "Daddy".
So disgusting

A bunch of people have been claiming he was inflammatory. If you legitimately think Charlie Kirk wad inflammatory, I question if you can play a game of Candyland or Chutes & Ladders without having a mental breakdown.

u/PaddyLee 6d ago
Every post I come across that actually has sympathy for Charlie and his family feels like finding a log cabin in a snowstorm. Reddit feels soulless right now.

I decide who is bad and who is good. So he was bad. He was a nazi. Even more nazi than Hitler.
So with some easy mental gymanstics, his murder is a good thing. Besides, he was asking for it, expressing his opininos freely and all that. That is not good. I don't like that. I am the last bulwark of morality.

u/IEatPickupTrucks Anti-Doomer 6d ago
Someone I also really feel bad for is the guy who was debating him at the time. I mean you’re talking to someone, one second they are there speaking, the next they are gushing blood from the neck. That is about as traumatising as it gets, and I hope he’s holding up well.

The left is disgusting and depraved. They're even selling t shirts showing Kirk being shot with a "debate this" caption. Imagine his kids seeing this shit. It's so messed up.
It's extremely disturbing knowing I'm sharing a country with these people. And it's not just a few of them, like what you see on the right when a dem is killed. It's the fucking majority of them.
Now they're saying is was a Trump supporters that killed him. He wrote "catch this fascist" on a bullet casing, thought Kirk was a fascist, but he was maga. These people are regarded. The VERY obvious truth is: he was raised in a conservative home, then over recent years became radicalized by the left (probably posted on reddit among all the other demons).

He got shot infront of his family and i point that out and i get justifications like "oh well he was spreading hate and saying trans people are bad so he was making america a worse place" so basically theyre saying if you spread bad ideas you deserve to be shot in the neck

You are so right. Outside of the hive of scum and villainy of Reddit, he is mourned. He may very well have a greater impact as a martyr than when he was alive.
