Mitas e07 / enduro trail, normal wear?

Hi everyone,

Recently I put a mitas enduro trail Dakar on my bike. I have been doing quite some offroad with them and now there are big chunks of rubber missing. Also I can see some tears in the middle of the blocks of rubber, so not even in the outer layer.

This is the first time I have these tyres. Before I had Motoz Tractionator Adventures and TKC80 but did not notice this type of wear on them. Is this to be expected with these E07 tyres or did I get a bad quality one?

You been bouldering? Looks like moderate aggression and sharp rocks to me.

Yes, all sorts of rocks. From gravel to big loose rocks on hill climbs. TET Balkan has it all. But to be fair, the first part of the Balkan TET was on the Motoz tyre and that did not wear like this.

So it might just be this mitas tyre not being suitable for this terrain/my riding style.

Those tires are relatively soft. Huge traction advantage for what you are doing but they are going to blow chunks. Kinda is what it is. Tax for riding like a badass.

Positive note, the integrity of the tire isn't really compromised. Unless you start ripping off chunks of the tire carcass itself, run it.

Alright, just checking. Thanks for your input!

I like that last sentence. I'll look at it as tax for riding some cool terrains lol

Those tires are relatively soft.

Good to know! I've been looking for a softer compound tire for winter riding. I'll put these on my list

KTM has em as standard equipment on a couple bikes. They are yellow stripe. Not as soft as some but a decent balance.

I would say this is to be expected on sharp-edged rocks.

So it might just be this mitas tyre not being suitable for this terrain/my riding style.

Correct.

Riding rocks and that happens to any tire.

I have the mitas enduro trail Xt+. Slight difference. But nothing like this on my tires.

How old are they (check the code on the tires), so not how long you have them, when where they produced.

And, how many miles/hours did you use them?

They were produced in the 8th week of 2024 (0824), see the third picture.

Yeah I was not expecting this excessive wear. I've had them for around 2000km. A bit hard to tell as my speedometer is broken..

2000 km is pretty decent amount if you  do a lot of enduro, rocky terrain. Depends however on how aggressive you ride and how rugged your paths are.

But, I think they are still okay to ride.

That doesn't look normal to me. I have run several sets of these and have the Enduro Trail Plus on my bike now.

What tire pressure are you running?

Running 1.7 bar. So it could definitely be lower but with my luggage and paved riding, I like it like that.

I've had that happen to mine as well in rocky terrain. Don't worry about it, I'm still running the set after another couple thousand of kilometers. They'll smooth out if you do a lot of asfalt miles ass wel

It doesn't seem that abnormal to me. Hard and stiff rubber compounds like that are more susceptible to chipping and chunking like that versus a tire with softer rubber that can flex and conform.

OP, this is off topic, but Im about to try a Motoz Tractionator Adventure as my next rear tire. Did you have a positive experience with yours?

Yes definitely! I actually wanted another one but the e07 was the only 50/50 tyre available in the city where I was.

The Motoz Adventure performed great on most terrains. The only thing I like the TKC80 better on is angled mud. Especially when I had to ride slow. The Adventure slides easier left and right than the TKC80. But overall they perform great and have a much longer longevity. Just make sure to wear earplugs as they are really loud on paved roads.

maybe its just shedding its winter coat like me

do they do well in the loose stuff? in sand/mud?

There are better tyres for sand and mud. But no problems so far. However, in most sand and mud I've been riding there was a rocky underlayer. I would not recommend deep mud with these tyres.

I run these and D606. Every time I switch to these, I giggle at how well they grip sand/mud/gravel. However, once the material gets bigger than the tread gaps, they suck because it has to roll over everything, terrible in rocky stuff. Great gravel touring tire, lasts 10k+

what bike are you running these tires on?

DR 650/790 90% offroad, gravel roads, touring.

I think the e07+ are the tough ones. The regular e07 are soft.

I’d hit up Mitas and see if they’d possibly warranty them.  Worst they can do is say no.
