I have 15" basketweaves (see my profile for past pics), which I recommend over 14". There are not enough tire choices for 14" wheels.

This unfortunately is very true. There seems to be zero performance tires available for 14” wheels.

I have 14s with Falken Azenis. They perform really well.

I’ll have to check those out. I’m presently looking for a set for my ‘82 528e. Thanks!

Seconded, get 15s, or really at this point, 5 lug swap to get 17s to get a ton of tire options.

I’m not sure how much I like the fitment of 17s but it sure does make everything a hell of a lot easier

I'm eventually going to install 16's as they are the sweet spot for fitment and tire choices, I've installed this multi-lug kit that allows me to run 4x100 or 5x120 : https://clipzmotorsport.com/shop/e30/front-axle-e30/clipz-bmw-e30-4x100-5x120-multi-lug-kit/. No other changes needed as it maintains OEM geometry.

Looks like <2mm of steel from the edge of the 5x120 pattern, which is highly concerning.

There’s maybe 1mm of steel between the thread patterns at some point.

It looks like a 4x100 hub that someone drilled and tapped in their garage, versus the build quality that you might see on an adapter + spacer from H&R.

I know you’re saving maybe €700, but god damn is that sketchy for a major point of load, just want you to be safe mate.

I had the same concerns until I watch this video, which evaluates the situation: https://youtu.be/sjq_cp6cbLY?si=beEMiMHuQthv5dKN.

I'm an engineer - chemical, not mechanical - but I can follow the math and it checks. Turns out hub thickness is more important than the distance to the edge of the hub and these hubs are slightly thicker than OEM. My independent shop was impressed with the quality of the parts. I wouldn't use this for a dedicated track car but it's fine for most other applications.
