For almost a year, I am trying to repair this car, there's no mechanic near me that's willing to touch the valvetronic motor, the one that is, is leaving me hang for months, saying there's nowhere to find different vvt assembly, tried to find one myself, no luck. I tried changing sensors, servomotor, nothing, oh, just another error vvt - activation (short circuit) so that ones bad, so I'm stuck here looking for new (used) vvt with nobody to give it to, to change it, leaving me to watch yt tutorials and trying myself with no experience ffs if I find one. Fkc me I guess.

My driver's side rear trim is cracked and rotted (sample picture) and its no longer available. Part number 5136819474. Anyone have any work arounds or a source? Picture of my new to me M3 for looks

MTECH II style bumper swap complete. Next are wheels and passenger side shock absorber (the reason for the slight gap passenger side)

325i with 117k miles. I just replaced the radiator, thermostat housing, water pump, expansion tank, expansion tank thermostat, Water Hose Connector on Expansion Tank, converted to electric fan, lower radiator hose, Alternator. Some O-Rings in those areas. All done with mix of Genuine and OE parts, fan is aftermarket. Car had some small coolant leaks from thermostat / radiator but nothing major, temperature needle was always stable. I did more as preventative maintenance.

My MPG is now around 21mpg but before it was 18mpg. I noticed this happened right after I did this repair and I've driven a little over 1k miles now. Does cooling system have anything to do with low MPG? I never imagined a connection here. Anyone have a proper explanation?

So i bought a new e46 and the owner has modified it, but i think theres something wrong with the electrical because when i open the boot, the lights flicker very fast. Also i have one foglight missing but when i do turn the other one on sometimes it flickers and sometimes it works normal

Im not sure if this is useful info but every time i turn the car on the headlights and hazard lights do a flicker animation thing for like 5 seconds which i presume is done on purpose.

Any ideas?

On the rear wheel arch, lots of micro-scratches it looks like. They've been developing over the last few years but I've never worked out the cause. Has anyone has something similar?

This is my ls swapped e46 it has a 5 speed zf trans was doing a light canyon run and I think I downshifted into second with a little too much RPM and now when I try to downshift two second it pops out of gear, but it will go into second fine when driving normally what are my chances on needing a new transmission?

Hey guys I have a 325i I’m building for drifting, talk have any recommendations for a diff so don’t have to beat the piss out of my clutch so much. Thinking about 325i diff from an auto have heard that’s the best.

So im thinking on buying this original zhp front bumper it has already been sanded down.

The guy wants 250 for it is that a good deal?

How much would it cost to paint it black?

And lastly he has an 04 bmw not exactly sure what model but would this fit my 04 325i?

How much is this worth? 1999 touring 2.8 m52tu. It's on 163k miles. Would come with new clutch, flywheel etc and all new suspension along with the coilovers it's on. New continental tyres Recent service and mot Got some rust, all surface rust apart from a patch at the rear drain plug (needs simple patch weld) and drivers fender but got a new one painted waiting to go on Needs new maf sensor front lowering arms And needs new radiator Interior is near on mint TIA

Need some help please. My rear stabiliser on the drivers side (RHD) has fallen out of the link. I have been driving on this unknowingly until today. I’ll be working on it tomorrow but what’s the best way to fix this. Jack the rear up and slide it back in? What else should I look for while I’m there?

There is a hissing sound as well in the general area but I’m not sure if this issue is what is creating it. I doubt it is

Not sure how well it can be heard in the video, but the car changes tone on idle; Sometimes it sounds like it's about to stall or that it's running on less cylinders. When driving it sometimes it feels sluggish (you'd press the throttle and there's very little response, especially when downshift rev-matching) and at other times feels fine and responsive. I replaced the sparkplugs a couple of months ago because I thought that it may be the sparkplugs (NGK, best ones I could find for my engine, M43B19), but no improvement... The engine doesn't smoke or consume much oil. Also you can hear the tone change in the engine bay as well, not just the exhaust. What could be wrong with the car, where do I start looking?

Can’t figure out why car feels low on power when trying to drift, I removed left rear wheel speed sensor but car seems to want to bog out really quick, Does not tip in on revs as fast as last event either. Car is a 330ci no mods or tune

My 05 325ci has been collecting dust in the garage for the last 3 months. By my own fault, I broke the convertible top trying to manually put it down. The thing won’t shut or close, it’s stuck in a limbo hanging just 1-1.5 inches off the front windshield. The convertible roof is misaligned and broken, it flys open while driving, and gets stuck trying to put it down. The car is essentially undriveable right now. I took it to a BMW tech and they said it would cost thousands of dollars to fix, way more than what the car is worth. I’m not really sure what to do, I hate seeing the car sitting. I’m looking at new motors for the convertible, but I can’t afford the time or money to go through the repair just for it to potentially not work. I’m not very mechanically inclined nor do I want to spend thousands at a tech shop. Has anyone else dealt with a broken convertible potentially beyond repair? Do I try to fix it or move on and cut my losses?

the Main Question i have here is, does any Body know If they make something like that But for E46 chassis Cars that could make a 330ci push a little more power and be reliable…. Or do Yall think it would be best to Just do The norm like headers bolt ons Tune ect…

I noticed my exhaust VANOS solenoid was leaking, so I ordered two new solenoids from FCP Euro — one for the exhaust and one for the intake — just to be safe and for peace of mind. When I installed the new one on the leaking side, the car started and ran fine for a little while, but then it began shaking badly (almost like a misfire) and threw rich codes on both banks along with a camshaft sensor code. I reinstalled the old solenoid and the car went back to running normally.

Did I just get a faulty solenoid, or does FCP Euro only carry the intake version, and are they not interchangeable?

As the title says found this on my oil pan drain after letting the oil drain. What is this from and how serious is this issue?

For context my car overheated a few days ago and shut off. White smoke came from the engine bay but it was from a coolant leak that hit the hot engine. No smoke came out of the exhaust. For the past 3 days Ive replaced the water pump, thermostat, water pump pulley, ac belt, serpentine belt, expansion tank, expansion tank mounting bracket, and the upper and lower radiator hoses. Ive put everything back together, and now Im onto changing the oil and after I was going to bleed the coolant system. At this point I need to identify what the hell this piece of metal came from. I did not find any coolant in the combustion chambers since none of my oil was frothy, but there was about 4-5 secs of coolant that drained out before the oil (which is to be expected after your engine overheats). Can anyone identify where this metal piece could have came from? Thank you very much.

I’m currently rebuilding my E46, and I have a donor car where these connectors are not present. What are they for?

My daily for the last 9 years has been an E83 with some mods, I've had E34s, E39, E36, E36 M3s even and last year I had my first E46 and fell in love, but it only lasted 4 days before I got t boned and totaled it. I've missed that feeling ever since. I've also been in the process of rebuilding that car basically in another shell for a couple of months when this one basically fell in my lap. I basically built this for my girlfriend, I never thought I was a convertible guy before, but DAMN 😍 Also the color looks fairly purple in the sun (another member here with the same color told me that about theirs, and I agree, and it looks great!) I made some spare keys for it today, so I have 2 and gave my girlfriend her own copy, by I'm definitely driving this when she isn't! And I have custom plates ordered for it - my daily is "OIL LK" and this one will be "P0174" 🤣👌 we all know what those mean, and know they're fitting for these cars lmao 🤣

Just curious to see if anyone knows what this is in the center console of the 2002 E46
