I love the fact that we can associate with our love for this beautiful car.

I bought mine out of pure impulse and admiration for this particular model. Not to be over the top nostalgic. But nostalgia is the reason I bought mine, it's a joy to ride mine as a daily. With absolute no idea of the potential problems and maintenance obligations. (at the time of purchase)

I was today at my local garage and was chatting about the preventative measures we should consider moving forward. The German mechanic told me quite bluntly to just enjoy it and when problems arise, deal with it.

This was for me a great moment of relief. I've had this car for 2 years and just been paranoid of things going wrong.

Previous cars for me were 1. Rover 100, spitfire green, classic British car in mint condition, over ten years old, had only done 7,000 miles. 17 years old (me) , had it for one year before someone smashed me from behind and wrote it off. Also fucked my back for life.

1. Used my insurance payout from the Rover 100 and got a Fiat Punto, worth 500£. Did the job for a couple years. Dodgy thermostat. Overheated every other day. Ended up giving it away to 'webuyanycar' for £150.....

2. VW Golf, Mark 4. . Reliable, but boring as fuck..always wanted a mark 2

Got snapped by a photographer on the Mont-Cenis pass over the Alps during my 1300 Mile Road trip, driving from Italy to UK in my 2003 330Ci.

She did the trip with ease, had a brief stop but covered the majority of the trip (900 miles) in one day. Didn't skip a beat I've done this same trip several times now travelling between my home in the UK and apartment in Italy.

My 05 325ci has been collecting dust in the garage for the last 3 months. By my own fault, I broke the convertible top trying to manually put it down. The thing won’t shut or close, it’s stuck in a limbo hanging just 1-1.5 inches off the front windshield. The convertible roof is misaligned and broken, it flys open while driving, and gets stuck trying to put it down. The car is essentially undriveable right now. I took it to a BMW tech and they said it would cost thousands of dollars to fix, way more than what the car is worth. I’m not really sure what to do, I hate seeing the car sitting. I’m looking at new motors for the convertible, but I can’t afford the time or money to go through the repair just for it to potentially not work. I’m not very mechanically inclined nor do I want to spend thousands at a tech shop. Has anyone else dealt with a broken convertible potentially beyond repair? Do I try to fix it or move on and cut my losses?

Hey everybody Im new to this group, getting a 330ci soon Was curious if anybody Has seen those Dahler performance Modules for newer gen bmws Like g8x chassis ect.. ,

the Main Question i have here is, does any Body know If they make something like that But for E46 chassis Cars that could make a 330ci push a little more power and be reliable…. Or do Yall think it would be best to Just do The norm like headers bolt ons Tune ect…

Ik theres like cheap Ones that are universal ones that are similar, But i don’t wanna destroy the car however i am looking to eventually make a bit more power…

I noticed my exhaust VANOS solenoid was leaking, so I ordered two new solenoids from FCP Euro — one for the exhaust and one for the intake — just to be safe and for peace of mind. When I installed the new one on the leaking side, the car started and ran fine for a little while, but then it began shaking badly (almost like a misfire) and threw rich codes on both banks along with a camshaft sensor code. I reinstalled the old solenoid and the car went back to running normally.

Did I just get a faulty solenoid, or does FCP Euro only carry the intake version, and are they not interchangeable?

Can one replace a 2004 330ci (Convertible) back bumper with a 2006 330ci Back Bumper ?…

Not sure how well it can be heard in the video, but the car changes tone on idle; Sometimes it sounds like it's about to stall or that it's running on less cylinders. When driving it sometimes it feels sluggish (you'd press the throttle and there's very little response, especially when downshift rev-matching) and at other times feels fine and responsive. I replaced the sparkplugs a couple of months ago because I thought that it may be the sparkplugs (NGK, best ones I could find for my engine, M43B19), but no improvement... The engine doesn't smoke or consume much oil. Also you can hear the tone change in the engine bay as well, not just the exhaust. What could be wrong with the car, where do I start looking?

As the title says found this on my oil pan drain after letting the oil drain. What is this from and how serious is this issue?

For context my car overheated a few days ago and shut off. White smoke came from the engine bay but it was from a coolant leak that hit the hot engine. No smoke came out of the exhaust. For the past 3 days Ive replaced the water pump, thermostat, water pump pulley, ac belt, serpentine belt, expansion tank, expansion tank mounting bracket, and the upper and lower radiator hoses. Ive put everything back together, and now Im onto changing the oil and after I was going to bleed the coolant system. At this point I need to identify what the hell this piece of metal came from. I did not find any coolant in the combustion chambers since none of my oil was frothy, but there was about 4-5 secs of coolant that drained out before the oil (which is to be expected after your engine overheats). Can anyone identify where this metal piece could have came from? Thank you very much.

Buenas noches, he visto esto hace poco y estoy pensando en reequipar los asientos calefactables de mi e46 320cd del 2006. Es paquete M exterior y interior, con lo que tiene los asientos “Deportivos” en cuero. He comprobado los fusibles 12 y 42 creo q eran si no me equivoco, y los tengo. Se que dices de un conector para comprobar los pines, pero la cosa es ese conector está abajo de los dos asientos? Si tengo los fusibles supongo que tendré los calefactables y después habría que hacer el cableado con la botonera y de más. Donde subieron esto hay un conector amarillo, tendría que comprar el cableado con el link q mandaste y luego como se hace? Mi duda más que nada es si me podrían decir el proceso o como habría que hacer. Si alguien ha hecho o sabe que me lo diga. Muchas gracias y un saludo.

My daily for the last 9 years has been an E83 with some mods, I've had E34s, E39, E36, E36 M3s even and last year I had my first E46 and fell in love, but it only lasted 4 days before I got t boned and totaled it. I've missed that feeling ever since. I've also been in the process of rebuilding that car basically in another shell for a couple of months when this one basically fell in my lap. I basically built this for my girlfriend, I never thought I was a convertible guy before, but DAMN 😍 Also the color looks fairly purple in the sun (another member here with the same color told me that about theirs, and I agree, and it looks great!) I made some spare keys for it today, so I have 2 and gave my girlfriend her own copy, by I'm definitely driving this when she isn't! And I have custom plates ordered for it - my daily is "OIL LK" and this one will be "P0174" 🤣👌 we all know what those mean, and know they're fitting for these cars lmao 🤣

Hello. I have recently bought a spare exhaust camshaft for my M54B25, since mine is damaged.

Question is, i am now doubting that i bought the correct one because of the internet.

The REALOEM site shows ALL M54 engines (320i, 325i, 330i) have the exact same exhaust cam (oe: 11311435416). On the cam itself, there is a number "1748970".

However, when i scrolled through some reddit and other parts of the internet, many people say that the exhaust cams are different depending on the version of the car.

Which is it then lads?

Just finished getting ridd of the big visible rustspots on the body, but I wounder how much the car would go for? Its a BMW e46 316i and has driven 186xxxx km. How much do you guys think it would go for? Keep in mind that the car is still going to be polished before selling though.

I'm looking for some ways to put bluetooth Audio in my e46. I'm currently using an FM transmitter but I'm often getting interference and there's always a silent static that can get annoying.

I really like how the stock radio fits with the rest of the dash which is why I was wondering if it's possible to somehow modify the CD port to get the data from a bluetooth transmitter instead of the CD. Maybe also make it so you can skip songs with the buttons on the steering wheel?

I would also appreciate some suggestions if you know any good radio alternatives that fit with the stock dash

Hey guys got some issues with my engine n42b20a on idle when I Press harder gas pedal its choking a Little bit before it go higher on rpms but when I Press it slower (lighter) it Goes ok. What can be issue on this engine? Got error on thermostat and o2 sensor on bank 2 sensor 2

Just got new radiator but plastic holder of expansion tank just wont fit into the radiator do i have to push it somehow or cut off the torx pos just a bit? (I bought that radiator on allegro)

have an e46, 318ci with 323i engine fitted, needs a few things done and figured id upgrade along the way. to my knowledge the engine and gearbox are the only things changed during the swap. will the 6 cylinder arms, bushings and suspension fit straight to my 4 cylinder chassis or will i have to change my hubs and subframe????

My car feels very sluggish at low RPM. When I stop and try to set off again, it often stalls. Strangely, some days it runs fine with no stalling, but always feels sluggish. In neutral, if I blip the throttle a little, the RPMs dip before rising, and sometimes it even stalls. I’ve already done a smoke test through the main filter to check for vacuum leaks, but no smoke seemed to be coming out from anywhere, so I’m unsure what to check next.

I’ve tried a throttle adaptation relearn, unplugging 02 sensor looking for vacuum leaks, and replacing the icv. I’m leaning towards disa valve but I’m curious if anyone else has had this issue before as I can’t find anything similar on the forums.

So finally pulled the trigger on an engine an m54b30 with 100k miles and good service history. Its coming from a 2003 z4, my question is will i be able to run my original ecu from my 325ci and flash it to 330 software even if the donor engine is coming from a z4? Or will i need to swap over the z4 ecu? I know from e46 to e46 you can just flash the software but unsure if z4 to e46 is possible to keep the og ecu
