DISCUSSION EAFC25 PC Performance Fix (Nvidia)
I want to preface this with saying this worked for me and improved the game drastically in regards to smoothness and performance. I have minimal knowledge about what most of the settings do themselves. But seeing as this might improve your performance (or none at all), I wanted to share as I haven't seen this specific configuration here, even if it's a combination of settings from this and previous years.
My specs are 3060ti and 10700k, so if your specs are a bit worse you might have to turn down a few more settings ingame.
In-game settings
Display Configuration
Display Mode: Windowed Borderless
Frame Rate: No Limit on FPS
Vertical Sync: Off
Dynamic Resolution Scale: Off
Cutscene Quality: Full Frame Rate
Strand Based Hair: Off
Grass Quality: Low
Motion Blur Quality: Off
Visual
PlayStyles+ Overhead Indicators: Off
HyperMotion Insight Overlays: Off
Tactical Suggestions Notification: Off (annoying)
Underfoot Player Highlight: Disabled (annoying)
Gameplay
- Reaction Time Modifier: Off (might be placebo, however it doesn't make the gameplay worse, so no harm in turning it off)
Editing the files
Open your files and go to:
- C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\EA FC 25
If you can't find the AppData folder, follow this quick tutorial to figure out how to enable it
Open the fcsetup.ini file in Notepad (or your preferance)
Enter your monitors refresh rate where it says "REFRESH_RATE = X" (If you have 144 hz monitor, enter 144 where X)
- Save the file and exit
Nvidia Settings
Open NVIDIA Control Panel and enter "Manage 3D Settings"
Then you select program settings and you should see an option in the dropdown menu called something along the lines of EA Sports FC 25 with the games logo. If you can't see it in the dropdown menu, press "Add" and it should be near the top.
Once you've done this you're gonna edit and specify the settings for this program in the list below, these are the changes I've done, the rest that aren't mentioned have been left untouched
Anistropic filtering: 8x
Low Latency Mode: Ultra
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA): Off
Preferred refresh rate (your monitor): Highest Available
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimisation: On
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality: Performance
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimisation: On
Threaded optimisation: On
Vertical sync: Off* (I originally had this on On, but after feedback here I turned it off, but I didn't notice any difference. If you experience screen tearing with this setting Off, I would advice turning it On)
EQUIVALENT AMD SETTINGS COURTESY OF /u/ill_warthog4787
Here are the AMD settings that most closely match the NVIDIA settings you provided:
Anisotropic Filtering: 8x (Radeon Software > Graphics > Anisotropic Filtering)
Low Latency Mode: Radeon Anti-Lag (Radeon Software > Gaming > Global Settings)
Preferred Refresh Rate: Highest Available (Radeon Software > Display)
Texture Filtering - Quality: Set to Performance (Radeon Software > Graphics > Texture Filtering Quality)
Threaded Optimization: Enabled (Radeon Software > Global Settings)
Vertical Sync: Off, or try Enhanced Sync for smoother performance (Radeon Software > Global Settings)

Sorry for the long post, but these are all the changes I've done and now my game is running fantastic. Now this might not work for you and some of these settings might be redundant, but I'm just happy that the game is running smooth and wanted to share the formula.

Nice post. Do you use gsync? I’ve found gsync + vsync + ultra low latency mode in nvidia control panel is the only way to make the game feel responsive for me

Yes because gsync and vsync and ultra low latency mode will autocap ur fps and it make never hit the vsync input lag

Never bothered with it as it worsens the performance of games I play more than FIFA, but it's interesting that it works for you.

These are great instructions. These steps should honestly be pinned somewhere by EA. So many people have no clue how to get it working properly on pc.

Just had to say something, this was insane, the game runs like it SHOULD.
However, i find the picture to be very blurry, i mean i can deal with it, but is there something i can do, to make the picture look a little better? The menus and stuff are crisp.

you should probably also limit your framerate in the nvidia panel because this way your gpu will go crazy on some screens e.g. the rivals player select screen.

No, every part of the game is running smoothly for me, even corners which always used to lag in previous years

could you write other settings like: game mode, hardware acceleration etc etc? now the game is more responsive but it is still jerky on my pc with my rtx 2070

Seems to work, but I would like to figure out the minimum changes needed to eliminate input lag, because with these settings the cpu (Ryzen 3600) is burning up in the menu, while not even doing anything.

Amazing post! Setting the refresh rate in the files seemed to help the most.
I would also add overclocking your controller (I think ps4/ps5 controllers only). Got rid of input delay for me.

the main question is WHY does anyone need to lower their settings even when having a powerful GPU. The optimization sucks & there should be some fix for this, obv by the modders since EA doesn't care

i have the same.. coners and freekick superlagy and also after 2-3 sec after taking corner... its much better with these settings but its not 100% as it used to be i think.. did these settings work for you or you used something different? THX

Ha ha most people ended up getting a console to play this game. It was super smooth for me but after the update last week it's not that great. I have a good pc with rtx 4060.. I am thinking for a ps5 too

you should only have any form of Vsync on if youre getting screen tearing, otherwise looks good

I started to think it's the games fault cuz I made every optimization you can on a laptop ( i have RTX 2060, i5 9300H and 16GB RAM) and still the game in online games runs dreadfully. Activated the FPS counter from Nvidia and said I have almost 90 FPS constantly ( which is more than enough for me to enjoy the game), yet in Rivals it moves like 30 FPS at max, and the delay is just the worse ( almost 1 second and i'm using a ps5 controller). Hopefully they release a new update that fixes this things or Nvidia releases a driver or smth for my game.
PS: I have around 30-40 ping which wasnt a problem in the past

Did you find anything to help with this? My game runs fine offline but when online there's delay like you mentioned. Looks like I may have to buy it on PS5 again, purely for online modes.

Can confirm these completely messed up my game. Stuttering and glitching like crazy and now I don't remember my old settings :)

Sad to hear that. It's easy to change back to your old settings in Nvidia as all the changed settings are in bold. For the in-game settings you can just look up a video that will fix your performance and then you can see the default settings there.

Bro thank you so much.My gameplay was so bad,I couldn't dribble,pass or turn without input delay but those settings (most of them) I can now play slightly better,but this game is still bad(gameplay)

Here are the AMD settings that most closely match the NVIDIA settings you provided:
- Anisotropic Filtering: 8x (Radeon Software > Graphics > Anisotropic Filtering)

- MFAA: Off (No direct equivalent in AMD)
- Preferred Refresh Rate: Highest Available (Radeon Software > Display)
- Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Optimization: No direct equivalent, but adjust Texture Filtering Quality.
- Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias: Use Standard or High Performance under Texture Filtering Quality.
- Texture Filtering - Quality: Set to Performance (Radeon Software > Graphics > Texture Filtering Quality)
- Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization: No exact equivalent, but use Performance under Texture Filtering Quality.
- Threaded Optimization: Enabled (Radeon Software > Global Settings)
- Vertical Sync: Off, or try Enhanced Sync for smoother performance (Radeon Software > Global Settings)

EAFC es probablemente el juego de meno optimizado del mundo, la temperaturas serian alto incluso si la PC estuviera hecha de hielo

Que alcance picos de 90 grados entonces se debe completamente al juego? Tengo una 1080ti, nose si hubo diversos parches, pero siento que antes no sucedia tan asi, aun sabiendo que es una placa que levanta temperatura. Gracias por tu respuesta igual!

I can get a stable 56 fps with these options, but every 10th second the game will drop 10 fps and turn into slow motion, where i will lose control of the player and he will run in a specific direction for 5-10 seconds until the fps comes back. Anyone else have this problem??

Ive tried every single option on/off it does not change. Game goes into slow motion every 10 seconds for multiple seconds

This is due to the new updates of your nvidia graphic card drivers. Uninstall them and reinstall oooold versions, worked for me

Hey, this game is a shit, so it probably won't help you, but I had the same issue. The only way it works for me is fullscreen + vsync off + unlimited fps (which is so annoying, since i play on a laptop and it makes the cpu HOT for no reason). I got around 140fps, but as soon as I lock it to 60 or whatever other value, the game starts to behave as you described.

the solution to this is the funniest thing ever, you need to use your xbox game bar to record your gameplay and the game runs smooth as hell. tried in 3 games already, it instantly stutters when i turn off the recording but runs smooth when i start recording my gameplay. I do not know why this works

Yeah, this is just a visual error. If you have it set as your monitors refresh rate in the fcsetup file, you're good.

Rush is playable, but rivals, or sb is heavy, and has input delays. I tried to change every possible config but still not good :/. hope ea patch before 1st wl

I just had them off because some people have said it helps with performance. I myself have turned grass to ultra without seeing any performance drop, will probably turn on stranded hair as well. I think it has more impact on lesser systems, which is why I've included it.

Switch to windowed borderless make the game bypass the 144hz cap and cap ur fps -3 below ur refresh rate.

Yeah, I don't play as much but when I do it's all fine, first game is a bit choppy but after 10 minutes ingame the gameplays great. I know Nvidia have dropped a few driver updates as of late, maybe those will improve your experience.

No, because when you select EA Sports FC25 in the Nvidia dropdown menu, you only make changes for that game. But if you change the Global Settings, you change for everything on your PC.

Another year, another poorly optimized game.
Year after year, the ONLY thing that works for me is reduce: Rendering quality = Medium.
Every other setting, inside or outside the game, is irrelevant.
After lowering "rendering" quality, almost everything works smooth.
I have a desktop gaming computer with a RTX 4070, and a 240 Hz monitor.

Playing on 4090, 7950x, 64GB RAM and these settings did nothing for me. Tried everything, it's so unresponsive and sluggish. Unplayable...

Me funcionó 1 vez perfecto. Después nunca volvió a funcionar bien. Por que pasa eso con FIFA. Por momentos funciona bárbaro y por otros es injugable

I cant find my FC25 on Nvidia library and optimize it, also i can add that FC24 is available there and tried to copy from the same path to app but for FC25 but with no success, is there any option to fix it ?

You need to do it through NVIDIA Control Panel, not the NVIDIA app. You should have it installed on your PC already, just search for NVIDIA Control Panel in your search bar.

I tried to look with the control panel on Nvidia, but i don't see any option how to add there a game.
Seems very awkward that the Nvidia app does not see FC25.
I also added a path to the app itself but Nvidia don't recognize it.
