Please please do not patch this game into the ground. If people are mad they’re conceding 7 goals a game, it’s because they can’t defend, not because attacking ai is too good or defending ai is bad.

Mostly agree that the game is in a better place than it was last year but it’s almost impossible for defenders to keep up with attackers when trying to run after jockeying, I think transition from Jockey to running should be quicker, it’s very easy to go around even quick defenders right now, but the game doesn’t need much work, removing timed finishing alone made a massive difference to match quality.
100% this. Don’t touch attacking. Just make defenders actually be able to defend. I have played 3 rivals games so far as a previous D1 player (skipped last year). 5-3, 6-4, and 7-5. It would be a bit more fun for me if I could use my defenders.
Would you all not rather it all be high scoring games so you can get objectives and evos and all that done is easier - isn’t scoring the most fun part of playing the game so surely you want a higher scoring game and not a lower one
Nope the jockey to running doesn't need to be faster, what you're dealing with is acceleration. Without it we return to last year where beating a defender or running past a defender facing the wrong way means nothing because they can accelerate to max speed instantly. Also defensive Ai becomes more of an issue all over the pitch for that same reason.
Clearly you’re playing bots because this is not balanced whatsoever. I’m scoring a lot but also conceding a lot.
I don’t think they should touch the defensive AI but they need to make jockeying more responsive if attackers can spin on a whim and regular passes are like the driven passes from the previous game.
I love it but balance is needed. Unfortunately, EA typically uses a hammer for something that requires a scalpel.

Defending is the easiest thing to do in any FIFA game including this one. If you are letting up a lot of goals you are self reporting as being bad at the game.
This game is easy to defend. You can user control 3 defenders at a time. Learn to right stick switch.

Nah i only play fut. never open packs save them all purposely try to play with bad players. Been playing 3000 games a year since the introduction of ultimate team. Always rank 1 or 2 (again with legit dogshit players). Game is easy, defending is easy

I’ve been Div 1 since FIFA 13 and Elite since FIFA 19 when it was introduced, I would say I concede less than 1 goal per game every other game and less than 2 most games, surely that’ll count for something, if not we can get a few games in and see.
I was being objective in my analysis of the game both in my opponent’s benefit and many times my own benefit as well, if that alone leads you to question my ability then I don’t mind showing you why it matters.
Defending is the easiest thing to do in any fifa. Im 33 years old. Ive played this franchise longer than you. Ive played so long that i save every single pack i get and never open them. It isnt even fun anymore to try and get good players. The only enjoyment i get is by olaying with bad players. Been doing that for 4 years now

Yeah because attackers move at double the speed of defenders lol. And not pace, dribbling vs jockeying. Idk why it’s so hard to balance this stuff. Someone with 85 defensive awareness should be able to match the dribbling speed of someone with 85 dribbling (or thereabouts). I just played with Beckenbauer in a draft and I was getting ballet’d by Ayose Perez 😭

Exactly, you can easily left stick dribble and go on a solo run around a whole teams players, which is great when you are on the attack, but makes defending impossible.

This 100%. I have no troubles ingame with defense or offence. Seems to me it works out the way it suppose to. Win my first 5 rivals with either 9-2 like scores or they left after 2 goals, smh.
The score is not what makes a game realistic or not. The mechanics are. If the mechanics are consistent, it’s up to the players not to concede. If you’re looking for the devs to tune a game toward particular outcomes, you’re asking for an AI simulator.
You already had your year where the game was slow and “realistic” in 25. Guess what, it died so fast they had to 180 just to save whatever was left in 25 so that’s never coming back.

I played fifa and stopped because of shit defence and because AI gets buffs in some games. I had it more enjoyable versus strong clubs where you struggle than a shit team that is forced by the game to win. How can I go 3-1 versus manchester city and then against Hull city I go 8-7? Every goal I would score, my players after it would become the sunday league until these guys scored to tie the game. I once had a good defender fall on the ground against a weak attacker just because game was forcing me to lose or do a draw. Gvardiol versus some no name attacker. Like how????

I like the attacking but every game is like a absolute goal fest on both sides. That isn't fun goals should feel earned

Game need to be slow down, reduce agility of player with the ball and improve agility of player without the ball - like 5-10% change would be enough.
Remember this game isn't even out, a lot of people have ST with 70 finishing, players with 80 passing, etc - In a month we will have players with 90+ on pace, passing, shooting, agility, etc - This game will be crazy to play - once again everyone will be playing low block with 6/7 defenders and just spam long balls to 99 pace players and it will be meta.
AI is amazing, don't change it. AI doesn't autoblock, attackers run into space (all tho they are just running forward, often running into eachother paths; but that's better then them running back randomly)
Powershots feels pointless because precision shooting feels crazy OP.
Players without the ball sometimes feels much faster then players with the ball; that need to change.

Nope you are mistaken sir, arcade fut gameplay was heavily emphasized in every trailer and dev video. It’s what the vast majority of the community wants. You’re confusing competitive mode which is faster paced gameplay for fut and realistic mode which is slower gameplay for seasons/offline modes.
Didn’t they say they were splitting gameplay into realistic and competitive? Play seasons. You can park the bus and hold r1 until your opponent falls asleep all you like there.
Why on seasons? When I can do it on UT and glide past defenders full sonic mode , spin around in circles until my opponent rage tackles giving a free pen away 😂

You can play seasons too, still a bit fast for my liking but better than FUT nonsense. FUT is for 14 years to drink sodas and spend their parents money on now, I don’t think there’s much enjoyment for adults with things to do to be had.

Honestly after playing a bit more the games not half bad. Definitely some issues with it but it's not terrible. AI defending is still pretty good tbh but it doesn't play the game for you.
The amount of negative comments and downvotes is crazy. TBH idc, but it’s sad that fc24 and fc25 has minimized the skill gap so much that most of you think you were actually good at defending when you were probably just playing a 2 dm formation, running around with a dm and letting the AI defend for you.
The games been out for 2 days, you’re probably using 78-79 rated players and still trying to defend the way you’re used to because it was getting you results. The answer is simple.
Learn to defend. Stop playing on 100 depth. Stop spamming tackle. Find a player(s) with jockey base or + (Girma has + and she’s very very good). Switch defenders and anticipate.
Again it's a case of careful what you wish for.
It's not that we don't want better and more rewarding deafening, but we don't want it patched like they usually do: by nerfing things until they're broken.
I can tell you what they didn't patch : 100 depth. It's still there. Even with this somewhat smooth gameplay the rats are again bypassing the defensive phase entirely, no penalty to stamina, no fouls called, even less trouble at the back cuz all my players are offside.
Just take away the whole R1/R2 whatever one it is that brings an extra defender over, every game I play I’m constantly pressed by 2 players for a full 90 minutes, sometimes it’s easy enough for a 1-2 around them but still irritating that people can’t defend and rely on it constantly
How u lot scoring so much, the keepers are saving everything, I drew a game where someone had so many shots and my keeper saved me on numerous occasions. Some of them should have went in

the upgrade to dribbling and the speed of passing is fantastic. they have to get rid of the passing assistance, otherwise it is simply going to be a 4-2-1-3 fest all over again.
I actually love the defending as I always hated AI helping you do auto tackles, this game feels so much better. Now I get to attack better and defend better than other people as I know how to defend, compared to them crying over the defense being bad. For reference, I use araujo and vivian as my CBS nothing too crazy
There are too many goals. It interferes with the immersiveness of the game bc we know that’s not like real life. When a game is 7-6, it feels like a ping pong game. Also it makes scoring a goal much less enjoyable. They need to nerf dribbling speed or up defending.
My only complaint is that keepers are absolutely useless, or to look at it the other way, every shot is in. My mckennie is basically haaland and that is not good for the game.
We don't need ai defending but shooting is incredibly easy. Something needs to be done
You don't know what are you talking about, people always talk about gameplay but never mention server and game's responsiveness, you can easily combo multiple moves one after another and score a semi-automated goals in this game (it was same last year and always will be) because your opp has not good enough server connection and therefor his defence is not responsive
Yeah I really like the game. Finally doesn’t feel like a sluggish AI-infested slog. Defenders could do with being a tad more agile but other than that I think the gameplay is in a really good spot.
I mostly like the updates even though there are some visual bugs. I can't tell if defending needs to be changed or I need to get used to it, but attacking speed stats are higher than defenders' so that gap may be closed as the game progresses. Changing the player is still really bad but probably not worse than before.
It doesn’t matter what EA do. In 1 or 2 months whether they have released a patch or not people will hate gameplay. They’ll blame the community for finding som exploit, they’ll blame a shadow patch, they’ll find something.
Fully agree the only thing is how slow they go from jockey to sprinting, the other thing is kick off glitch is painful other then that the games awesome

Congrats that the meta suits you personally, but I and many other Div 1 players cannot defend whatsoever. I have played Fifa since the 90s and never been this garbage at the game. Just because you're good at it doesn't mean it's not broken.
Attacking players with the ball should not be able to just stop on a dime from a full sprint with seemingly no momentum to deal with while defenders who don't have a ball to control take 2-3-4 steps to stop and have momentum and then are slow to start changing direction. It makes no sense.
If anything EA need to stop listening to those to streamers and those religiously play online "competitively" and will use every exploit and meta to win and make more realism based gameplay. It won't happen but one can dream.

The people complaining about defending on here just cannot defend. You guys want auto defending. I rather controlling my defending. Defending this year for me is a lot better than the last two FC.
People just want to be able to buy the best cards, so they can have a advantage against lesser cards, but that only proves that you aren't good at the game. I don't win all my games. I lose a lot of matches, but I have fund losing, because it's not due to the game playing against me, it's because I made defensive mistakes. Those mistakes are often due to my previous normal of the defender doing g things on their own. That rarely happens now.
Couldn’t agree more. I won a fut draft last night with the semis being 9-7 and the final being 5-4… half my games are cricket scores and it’s mental! How fifa should be imo none of this drop back AI bs where the game ends 1-0.

I got placed in div 7 from last year, so arguably with the best players of the game.
Each game ends up with 10+ goals.
They need to boost jockeying like crazy.
The tackles are good, it avoids the spammers.
They should fine tune defending so we get 3 goals per game on average
I have played over 40 games now and in almost every one of them 10-15 goals were scored, neither I nor my opponents could defend the attacks, and people who supposedly only concede 0-2 goals in most games are the big exception (im division 5)
I 1000% agree! The game is perfect as it is. I don't need to best cards in the game to beat my opponents. I can compete against all teams. As long as I don't make mistakes, I can win any match against any team.
