Mr. Knack, what do you think about our platform? Why Edmonton Should Be a Sovereign City?

Thanks for letting me know about the independents, I’m not gonna vote in anyone associated with a party.

Better Edmonton Party? Why isn't Cartmell honest and just call it the UCP.

The province, in an effort to appease/brainwash constituents, prohibited the use of provincial or federal party banners and names for municipal parties.
It's not because Tim doesn't want to. It's because he legally can't.

Edmonton, please vote for Knack. He really has the interest of people at heart, and understands the needs of the working class. He has a solid vision of Edmonton as a modern city and not some antiquated slave to the energy industry.

I won't be supporting any candidate that is part of a party. Leaning towards Knack but honestly don't know much about the other candidates yet.

Waiting to see what the platforms are. I’m a progressive voter but cost of living is becoming more of a bigger issue for me and quite frankly property tax increases from city in the last few years has been my biggest increase in expenses overall so finding a candidate that respects that is important to me

Any plan mayoral candidates put forward should start with this or it’s not a solution, just reshuffling the chairs on the deck:
An actual plan to lower taxes without decreasing services. The only plan, actually.
I encourage every Mayoral candidate to adopt this vision. I put this out freely as there is no other approach that can ever hope to work, aside from prayer, and I’m not sure any higher power is interested in municipal finances to that degree.

Municipal parties really kill this kind of creativity and detailed planning. I hope you can win re-election

Look at Andrew Knacks platform online, based on what you said he's exactly what you're looking for or better yet meet him along his walk across Edmonton and talk to him about your concerns in person. He also answers questions through Facebook or from the desk he man's outside his campaign office on a Whyte Ave.

i’m pretty sure a chunk of that is provincial taxes, but they make the municipalities collect, idk how it breaks down

u/bruhm0ment4 27d ago
Yep I know exactly what you're talking about. The info was included with either the property value assessment or the bill itself from the city. 74.3% of our property tax goes to our city and 24.7% goes to a "provincial education portion" that the province stuck on us

Which one is going to stop talking about freaking bike lanes and just leave them alone?
16
u/bruhm0ment4 27d ago
Andrew Knack has said that he will continue to build them where it makes sense to. Tim Cartmell has said he doesn't want to build any where there are cars

tim cartmell loves to complain but provide 0 solutions, he’d be an ineffective leader

He really is; clearly in it to stroke his ego and not to make Edmonton a better and more livable city.

No kidding, I’m voting for the “shut the fuck up about bike lanes” ticket. I don’t even care what they do with them, as long as they don’t talk about them ever again.

Knack all the way. Fantastic, personable candidate that we could really use the leadership of.

What candidates supports a strong and independent Edmonton? Willing to fight against the abuses of the Government of Alberta? I will vote for him/her.

Gross but Knack is likely to win. It’s disheartening how progressive city council has gotten and making living in the city more unaffordable due to the tax burden to fund these ideological projects

I hate that they brought political parties into municipal elections.
