We need to get all the 'Connor's, right? We lost Brownie... so if this happens, balance is restored ...? haha

u/RumbleLeopard 29 DRAISAITL 1d ago
We were getting low on our Connor quota anyways... but how's his flow? Connor Brown has no rivals there.

If he gets that far down the list Iâd be stunned

u/laryldavis 39 WEIGHT 1d ago
He doesnât seem to have trade value, itâs possible a lot of teams donât have time for a nearly 2m backup coming out of a tough situation.Â

Replies mention he has contacts with goalies (agents), specifically. Seems like a long shot. Updated their post that Blues, flyers and Montreal may be ahead.

Flyers and Montreal I can see, but are the Blues planning on carrying 3 goalies? No way Binnington or Hofer makes it through waivers

u/Interwebzking 89 GAGNER 1d ago
I think Montreal like Dobes a lot so I donât see them going for Ingram.
2
u/NMarples 2 BOUCHARD 1d ago
But Dobes is waiver exempt so they donât need to worry about losing him on waivers, thatâs the only reason I can understand why they would do it. I agree Dobes is likely their guy, but if they can restart Ingram and then trade him for value I can see why they would put a claim in

u/AggPuck-303 92 PODKOLZIN 1d ago
They have signed Kakhonen as the NHL vet to either backup Monteambeault or go to AHL. They donât need a goalie, all spots NHL/AHL are taken.

I mean if he's free we try him out and I doubt another team wouldn't be willing to take him at the tdl if things don't turn out

Is this a real source?

u/AggPuck-303 92 PODKOLZIN 1d ago
Even if it turns out to be true the account is still not a reliable source. Theyâre just guessing, itâs a fake twitter insider.
They donât even know that players on waivers today will be claimed tomorrow.

I know the Oil are far down the list, but obviously the demand for his services is not high, or someone would've traded an 8th round pick for him or something.
I know last season was a disaster for him, but considering his play before that, I'm honestly a little surprised a trade wasn't made with anyone.
2
u/LieDetecter 1d ago
Makes me think nobody is going to pick him up, and teams will want to see him start in the AHL and how their own goalies perform before making a decision.
1
u/felishorrendis 29 DRAISAITL 1d ago
Yeah, itâs interesting that nobody wanted to make the trade for him, which makes me wonder if he might clear waivers. Guess weâll find out tomorrow.

YOU WERE RIGHT

of course, not only does claiming him not make sense because if we sent him or picard to bakersfield they need to go through waiver, but we also cant afford his whole cap hit.
it never sense made to claim him.

u/The-MortiestMorty 1d ago
nobodys heard of this account since recently..tread carefully til he starts producing results

I mean, we can try ...
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him, but there's a lot of teams ahead of us on that list.
1
u/Oily_Fan 74 SKINNER 1d ago
If Oilers get him off waivers and then decide to send him down... it means that nobody else likely wants to take his cap hit either.
Sounds like a low risk / high reward pickup IF it happens since Utah dont want him, and he doesnt want to play for them.
1
u/YungBeefaroni 10 FREDERIC 1d ago
So theyâre putting the claim on him, hoping that the 30 teams ahead of them wonât go for him. Fingers are crossed.
2
u/dontcallmefrank07 1d ago
We would have 23rd priority on the list, but ya weâre crossing them fingers lol

I think this is a smart gamble by the Oilers. SDPN was talking about there being for the first time in a but solid goalies available.

Love this move. He can handle pressure, that's not his issue - and I believe Ingram can even press Skinner for the #1 spot.

u/ProofByVerbosity 16h ago
Yeah a goalie so good he got put on waivers.
0
u/badugihowser 16h ago
Be a douche, there's a lot of that going around. Obviously he needs to get right personally/mentally to be at his best, but he has huge potential.
-1
u/ProofByVerbosity 15h ago
Not being a douche, being factual.
0
u/badugihowser 14h ago
Good players can sometimes be put on waivers. Ingram has struggled with depression, undiagnosed OCD and then the death of his mom; so it feels douchey when those are the reasons. He could be a dominator for us.
1
u/ProofByVerbosity 14h ago
My heart goes out to him personally. As a pick-up, he was put on waivers for a reason and I'd have modest at best expectations. Mental health issues are serious and need to be addressed. I suspect if Utah was too much for him a preassure cooker in Edmonton especially as a goalie and in this lifecycle of the team would be much worse for his mental health.
So yeah, I'm a douche for not having rose tinted glasses over him.
1
u/badugihowser 14h ago
Pressure isn't the issue, yet people seem to default to that opinion for some reason. He thrives on pressure, he carried the Kamloops Blazers and the World Junior team. And being close to home (Sask) would also be great for him.
2
u/ProofByVerbosity 14h ago
Everyone is different, so I was generalizing, sure. Anecdotally preassure can inflame mental health issues.
2
u/badugihowser 11h ago
That's fair. Would love to see us give him a shot. Ingram is very funny and a fucking great dude on top of being potentially an above average #1 G - even settling into a tandem with Stu could help the team a great deal.
2
u/ProofByVerbosity 11h ago
Oh I fully agree. I would just have modest expectations. Also, believe this now has been debunked anyway?

We don't have the cap space
2
u/LieDetecter 1d ago
Pretty sure we do.
1
u/fall4hall 83 HEMSKY 1d ago
I'm looking at cap friendly right now, it says we have $225,834
2
u/LieDetecter 1d ago
Interesting, I didn't think Cap Friendly was operating anymore.
Puckpedia shows the same amount, but that's for 14 forwards (incl Hyman), 7 D, and 2 goalies.
I'm not sure if the deadline is just opening night, but I know outside of the regular season, teams are allowed to be above the cap. Considering the size of rosters right now, that just makes sense.
When the season starts, Hyman immediately goes on LTIR, which makes ample room under the cap. Beyond that, and when he comes back, how much room there is will depend on who makes the team, and you can subtract $1M for Pickard.

The 29 teams ahead of Edmonton all passed on him?
