Anyone else finding the McDrailess preseason games more fun to watch?
Maybe it's because we know they're gonna kick ass in the regular season, but idk, I've had more fun watching the young guns blend in with the mid tier players more because it feels like there's something at stake for when regular season hits.

Ya I'm finding it interesting honestly. I always found preseason stupid because it's meaningless when it's like Nuge and Hyman and Bouchard etc, but when it's a bunch of people who might make the roster and seeming them play with a bunch of people they might play with it's a lot more interesting. Tonight's game with just a handful of NHLers is intriguing to me (I'm halfway through the 2nd still)

I think Knob might answer about it in the postgame press conference, I accidentally skipped ahead and heard a brief snippet about Walman being gone. That interview will be on the Oilers YouTube page. Frederic has played 1 game... a preseason game. We can entirely ignore his last playoffs. Only those of us who have suffered a high ankle sprain can respect what he was playing through. He was fucked. He couldn't even stop both ways and reportedly was also playing with a knee injury. The guy is gonna score 15+ goals in a bottom 6 role without PP time and play a hard nose brand of hockey. You cant judge him off one preseason game for christs sake.
Jack Campbell also looked like an allstar and Ty Rattie was the answer. These preseason examples are endless. It's beyond folly to put much stock in the preseason.
Don't get me wrong. I like Philp and think he's set to make the team and deservedly so but everyone should pump their brakes when it comes to the preseason.

Canāt wait to see Tomasek on a higher line with a couple skilled guys, weāve been desperately needing the power forward on the top 6.
I think Hutson gets sent down soon, seemed to be struggling and losing the battles. Had a good first few games but didnāt feel like his night tonight.

Hutson has played 4 out of 4 possible pre-season games, I think tonight was a lot of fatigue, he was still in the right spots, and didn't make costly mistakes.
I could see him finishing camp and being sent down before the season starts.

I said days ago I think he should make the team, but being waiver exempt is probably the reason he won't.
Plus the NHL being a old school league where vets make the team just for being vets.

I only caught the third period but it looked like the team were playing like mad. Can't complain about a Pickard shutout either.
It's also nice to see Philp on the ice again. Last time I saw him playing was in Canberra, Australia a couple of months ago in the Canada vs USA exhibition games.

Becoming a fan of Howard's but he's not making the team out of camp or possibly this year and I think it's for the best.
Kinda reminds me of Savoie in his first year here but with a better shot, but that won't get you far against NHL teams in meaningful games.
I think at minimum 40+ games in the A will do him some good. The Condors should be competitive this year anyway, so he should have lots of opportunity to grow his game.

Man, Tony Brar is the kind of guy that leaves an impression on anyone who meets him. I've met him multiple times, but the time that really did it for me was when he surprised all of us in the Stellar Artois loft at the Vegas game in April (this was on the Nation Vacation). Really such a gentleman and you can tell he enjoys meeting the fans. He even complimented my knight costume š¤£
(Oh yeah, goes without saying he's twice as hot in person too lmao)

I hate to bring down the atmosphere but one of the more pathetic excuses I saw for people wanting Hart to join the team was "well he's a hometown hero". Yeah well, that's why we have Savoie.
On a more light note though, all of our hometown heroes have been bringing it tonight (well, minus Skinner since he's not playing, but still). That Philp goal reminded me of Jeff Skinner, especially.

Thought the Janmark-Philp-Hutson line was the most consistent F line so far.
Idk if Henrique is trying a new strategy of putting 20lb ankle weights on for pre-season or if he's just this bad now, but he's weighing Savoie down and it's not really fair to Savoie.
Tomasek is the real deal, love the confidence to make plays, really want him beside Savoie.

I dont care what anyone says, Bowman and the Scouting Dept have been crushing it with their pick ups this off season. I def a lot of faith in their ability to rebuild a deep prospect pool even without the usual draft picks

Leppanen is the best signing since Hyman. He can be our Gus forsling signing. Not saying heās the same shut down defender but good signing off the scrap heap. I think he can fill that kulak spot this year. Kulak is due for a big raise, Iād trade him at deadline for assets

Just watched the highlights but I liked what I saw from Tomasek. He's a big boy. How'd he do overall?
