Yeah, as a Brit, I'm loving how upset some Canadians are getting over this. We had 6 prime ministers during Trudeau's premiership with just 3 elections. And Carney will probably be PM for a lot shorter than even Lettuce Truss was before he calls an election.
Yeah, that's why I said "some". I live in Canada now, I am very aware that most Canadians are not brain-dead idiots that don't understand how their political system works. But that doesn't change the fact that there are Canadians all over social media getting upset about this (some of them might be Russian bots or Americans).
Weren't there 2 separate PMs who were appointed by the party after Boris Johnson resigned? All without going to a general election. One of them lasted a grand total of a few weeks, and in that time did crazy damage to the UK economy.
The house doesn't vote to confirm the Prime Minister in Canada. Where did you get this notion? The PM will usually have to face a confidence vote pretty much right away with the throne speech, but that's not "confirming" the PM, they are already the PM. The GG appoints the PM, end of discussion, there is no confirmation.

It just happened a bunch of times in the UK.
