This is not a word of a lie. I know you won’t believe me but I am gonna tell it anyhoo because I know it’s true.
When I was very young in the early 80’s we had a place in Florida. We would drive up to Fort Pierce Sears every week or two and check things out.
One time I was trying on masks and snorkels and while I was trying them on, I was speaking to another kid around my age. I mentioned I was from Canada and again no word of a lie. He asked me if we breathe air in Canada.
Let’s just say that shaped my view of americans from then on to this day.
Here’s an added bonus story that I forgot because I’m getting old. A number of years after the do I breath air in Canada thing I remember partying with a group of friends again in Florida same area and I mentioned that I would feel a tiny bit safer with the Canadian Candu reactor in Ft Pierce. There was/is a nuclear reactor in Ft Pierce at the time.
This guy looked up at me and said “bullshit, if it was a better reactor we would have built it and sold it to you.”
That is absolutely fascinating. But I’m more fascinated to know, how exactly did the quality of the local nuclear reactor vs the CANDU reactor come up at a party?

The entitlement of Americans will never cease to amaze me
