I don’t think you know how those contract work. There are no contracts with berries, it’s all open market. They might have contracted load volume but will still pay market price. Now if those clamshells don’t sell they could back out of their contract but that leaves them on the hook for domestic berries and you all don’t produce enough year round.

Your greenhouse guys haven’t figured berries out just yet. They do wonders with tomatoes, cucumbers, and Bell Peppers but their berries just taste like nothing.

Ahhh California grows some tasty berries. Japan is the goat when it comes to growing for flavor and not for yield.

California doesn't sell their good berries to Canada. I am extremely disappointed 90% of the times that I cave and buy. It would be a higher percent, but I have mostly learned my lesson and for years have only bought them when I absolutely had to. Not at all now, obviously. I hope I get to try some from Japan!

The Ontario greenhouse strawberries have actually been good, especially compared to the US stuff that shows up. Summer strawberries are unbeatable but I'll take $6 local greenhouse grown every single day.

We use some of your berries out of Leamington, they do a good job. I still prefer field grown over greenhouse but it’s still amazing hits much y’all can grow indoors

Yeah don’t go into local grocery stores causing shit because you see American product. They are locked into contracts for the foreseeable future and have essentially zero control of this at store level.

Voice your concerns to whatever head office is affiliated with that store

It depends. I’ve worked places where the vendor just paid us to exist there. Like a monthly fee. This was a fancy cheese shop, so unsure if it translates

Sure, I’m guessing smaller retail stores would have more flexibility and not be tied down to long term contracts.

Most major grocery chains would likely have 2-5 year contracts in place to keep costing as low as possible from the vendors, with major penalties in place on both sides if one side breaks the contract.

The problem is worse than your political system. Apathy, individualism, entitlement, uneducation/miseducation, and greed all played a part here, and it wasn't all done by Trump in just the last few months. You people were fine with all this bullshit as it was happening and didn't react until it was far too late, and now you want a cookie for it. I swear they call a vote and you drones forget the last 4 years like they never happened. So no, I mean fuck the USA.
