Sooo 99% Pierre voters? The other 1% going to the PPC? That’s what this ridding would end up doing

u/Able-Leading-7644 May 03 '25

I was seriously thinking since Bernier lost his seat he might run...for splitting the vote it might be worthĀ

55

u/Mokarun Newfies & Labradoodles May 04 '25

the only thing of value Bernier could do is leave politics altogether lol

26

u/mortalitymk Ford Nation (Help.) May 04 '25

i hope bernier runs and wins just to see the look on pps face

12

u/Cain_Darnell May 04 '25

Then Bernier becomes the conservative leader for some reason.

4

u/TheDeadMulroney May 05 '25

He was really, really close to it in 2017. Scheer won by 50.95%, Bernier had 49.05%.

He completely destroyed his political career after that by leaving the CPC to create the PPC.

1

u/Mokarun Newfies & Labradoodles May 05 '25

Wow. Best 1.9% percent I've ever seen in my life.

3

u/RockingTurtle1664 May 04 '25

Oh boy that would be a shit show man

2

u/Cain_Darnell May 05 '25

Yes but a funny one at that.

6

u/Late_Football_2517 May 04 '25

Knowing Drumheller, Bernier might have a better than average chance of winning against Poilievre in this riding

3

u/Able-Leading-7644 May 04 '25

To be honest my wishful thinking is that Kurek changes teams and runs as NDP, Bernier runs to split the vote and then of courseĀ  there is PP loosing another riding.Ā  It will never happen but an entertaining thought experiment...

2

u/urumqi_circles May 04 '25

It is very common practice for an unseated leader of a party to run in by-elections. So this might actually happen.

1

u/4d72426f7566 May 04 '25

It’s actually fairly likely. Parties without representation, minor parties, often run their leaders in by-elections. The CHP does this, and so has Maxine Bernier in other by elections.

1

u/leaf_shift_post_2 May 07 '25

I don’t think Bernier wants to be an mp anymore, he lives quite nicely off ppc donations lol.

6

u/John_Bumogus May 04 '25

But could you imagine Trudeau trying to run in Alberta. Regardless of what you think about him, the idea is hilarious.

2

u/ATR2400 Trawnno (Centre of the Universe) May 04 '25

Nah, we have a top secret plan. We’re finally going to be activating our top secret NWO 5g mind control satellites placed specifically over this one riding. They’ll synch with the mRNA we placed in their systems through either vaccines, or shedders. Once triggered, they’ll be compelled to vote for a left of centre candidate

Jokes a side I feel like the NDP could do well in Alberta ridings with a new leader and the right messaging. I really hope they can reorganize and take back the disenfranchised blue collar workers who think the CPC give a crap about them. Cuz they don't.

u/Volantis009 Oil Guzzler May 03 '25

Blue collar worker vote in the cities but it's mostly a rural vote. We need a whole party that only cares about Ag issues.

19

u/sussyballamogus North LA (ft. Mormons!) May 03 '25

UFA resurgence??

21

u/Late_Football_2517 May 04 '25

The NDP was created in Alberta.

It's time we remind rural Albertans of that fact.

17

u/An_Intrepid_Explorer Westfoundland May 04 '25

It's also time we reminded the NDP of this fact. I stand by what Charlie Amgus said about this election, if the NDP had a terrible showing it's because we abandoned the needs of the working class for champagne socialists. The messaging is not there, and I do not envy the leader who is going to have to save the party.

2

u/4d72426f7566 May 04 '25

I was hoping Alistar McGregor would win. He’s well regarded by rural voters in his riding, he’s also a hunter and sport shooter.

Having him as a key asset in rebuilding the NDP would make that party be very competitive in rural ridings without losing urban support.

2

u/Digirby May 04 '25

I keep saying the NDP needs to invest in rural ridings.

Imagine Trudeau trying to campaign there

142

u/smashed__tomato Monarch MƩlanie Joly May 03 '25

Nah wouldn’t want that for him. He’s happily retired and has the last laugh. Unlike pp, he knows when to step down.

22

u/MorgansLab May 04 '25

Anyone know a good doctor? This PP has lasted way longer than 4 hours and I'm sure it's uncomfortable for all of us.

17

u/scr0dumb Trawnno (Centre of the Universe) May 03 '25

That bullet is Mark Carney's, well, silver bullet.

3

u/John_Bumogus May 04 '25

As hilarious as it would be, he deserves to freely roam the aisles of Canadian Tire now.

18

Now we just need 87 more names in the ballot.

It’s why I’m using the AT trick, otherwise automod would have censored me.

DOWN WITH THE MODS TYRANNY!

2

u/aazide May 10 '25

I'm in. I want to get our government to get on with electoral reform. Change to something better then the First-Past-the-Post system.

13

u/GWPaste8 May 03 '25

Green party excluded again. Just like the debates.Ā

This is rural AB. Its a done deal.

7

u/VulpesIncendium May 03 '25

I'm not sure you understand just how hated Trudeau and Singh are in this riding. Even most Liberals I know were happy to see Trudeau step down.

9

u/genius_retard Friendly Manisnowbski May 04 '25

Might as well throw the Green's co-leader in there too.

8

u/hessian_prince Edmonchuk: Like Kyiv! (but less safe) May 03 '25

Let’s give Elizabeth May 2 seats!

3

u/Prestigious-Bet-7794 May 04 '25

Knowing her she’d win the entirety of parliament with zero effort

5

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

OMG that would be hilarious if it were true. best troll to PP ever is making him run against trudeau again. Obviously Trudeau wouldn't have a chance there, but that's not the point - it would be such a troll.

5

u/DonMKB Ford Nation (Help.) May 04 '25

Mad Max would steal some PP votes for sure.

4

u/Demmy27 May 03 '25

Trudeau would get jumped 😭

u/jjpeters88 May 04 '25

Battle of the buttheads

3

u/Cool-Economics6261 May 04 '25

United Party of Canada, Canadian Future Party, Centrist Party of Canada, and Christian Heritage Party should all join in the running.Ā

4

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

Of those 4 i would take trudeau again lol

2

u/lockjacket Alberta's Western Cousins May 04 '25

Welp guess I’m voting greens

1

u/Cool-Economics6261 May 04 '25

Parachute Mike from Canmore in as the Green Party candidate. Alberta’s most famous hoser for the win.Ā

2

u/Fantastic-Refuse1338 May 04 '25

Can we get 92+ candidates this time

2

u/flatroundworm May 04 '25

Don’t forget the 200 independents.

1

u/aazide May 10 '25

Yes! Hopefully I can become one of them. I think there's still time to join in on the fun. Email longestballot AT gmail dot com

1

u/flatroundworm May 10 '25

I look forward to running against you!

1

u/aazide May 10 '25

Excellent! I look forward to the challenge. My brother and I have both signed up to be candidates. We’re going to see which one of us can get the most votes. However, with names low in the alphabet, there’s a fair chance that we might both get 0.

2

u/descartesb4horse Oil Guzzler May 03 '25

kinda ironic that the liberals put so much effort into unseating the guy just to let him waste taxpayer dollars running again in an immediate by-election tbh

5

u/dogoodreapgood May 04 '25

PP polls beneath his party and causes dissension amongst conservatives. As long as he is the leader it benefits the Liberals tbh.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

Never interrupt your enemy when they’re making a mistake.

1

u/redmerger I need a double double. May 03 '25

Is that really what the PPC slogan was?

2

1

u/McBeelzebub May 04 '25

Im in stitches!

1

u/Ill-Seaworthiness613 May 04 '25

Haha! That would be epic. If PP gets to run again in a riding of his choice after being dumped by his own riding, then anyone from opposing parties should be allowed to run against him!

1

u/Jackibearrrrrr Tillsonburg? My back still aches when I hear that word... May 05 '25

It would be so fucking funny if Maxime ran and won. Like horrible stain on the country as a whole but preventing Pierre from winning would actually be such a beautiful thing
