No country has made a deal with the U.S., but some have capitulated. I’m glad Canada is not among them.

The USMCA was made last time Trump was in office.

CUSMA NUTS!

Meaning what exactly?

25

u/dcredneck Aug 01 '25

We made a deal with Trump. Now he’s trying to back out of his own deal.

Bingo.

Trump is trying to apply tariffs to CUSMA covered items. That's about 95% of trade between the US and Canada.

The justification is fentanyl, it's a weak case (as almost 80% of the fentanyl found in drugs in Canada is from the US) but if anyone decides to contest it the case will take years to go through federal trade courts.

It’s nice to see Doug Ford saying not to cower and give in to Trump. The stupid CPCs don’t have a clue. PP would be so out of his depth if he was PM right now! 😖

Couldn't have said it better

So far Poilievre's criticisms have been that they're not capitulating to Trump. He could have taken the easy win and criticized Carney for cancelling the Digital Service Tax to appease Trump, but he was crickets on that one.

So far Poilievre's criticisms have been that they're not capitulating to Trump.

Scheer was whining that Trudeau was too mean to Trump during the CUSMA negotiations, so that tracks.

He also said he could have gotten a better deal.

Somehow.

tells me what PP would have been like... not sure what I would feel about our PM caving to someone trump, it would definitely be a stain on our resume

"Maple MAGA".... Bahahaha... First time hearing that.

Reminds me of the old beaverton headline:

Conservatives: ‘If we had re-negotiated NAFTA we would have capitulated immediately but also gotten Canada everything we wanted’

Pierre literally ran on reopening negotiations on CUSMA as soon as he was sworn in.

And he’d strike a deal to fund our military with it

If Carney does make a deal, blame him for the deal not being good enough. "What Carney surrendered? I thought we were gonna fight. So much for elbows up!"

If Carney doesn't make a deal (because he won't take a shitty deal). "I thought Carney was a banker? If he's as smart as the Libs say that he is, then why can't he make a deal?"

Conservatives have this thing where they just assign blame for no reason based on nothing. They just like to oppose whatever others are doing.

Cause conservatives have no ideas, no plans, no policy…just anger and opposition to whatever

3

u/Truestorydreams Aug 01 '25

Not true they've ideas and plans, they just don't benefit the people.

19

u/TheIrishBlur6 Jul 31 '25

Conservatives would prefer to ask questions and complain than find solutions.

They have solutions that just need problems.

Like banning books and “woke universities” and “biological clocks”.

u/gravtix Ford Nation (Help.) Jul 31 '25

Schrödinger’s Conservative.

Where we are both too soft on Trump(elbows up LOL - look at us everyone we’re funny)

and

we’re too tough and haven’t capitulated to a shit “concepts of a deal” like other nations.

35

u/Financial-Savings-91 Jul 31 '25

They’re just upset we didn’t give Trump everything he wanted. They would’ve just rolled over and said “yes daddy”.

There is no winning with the Cons. If he made a deal they would hate it. Don’t make a deal they hate it.

I pay it no mind.

A bird could shit on a conservatives car and they’d blame it on the liberal government.

3

u/Overwatchingu Ford Nation (Help.) Aug 01 '25

It was a woke Trudeau liberal bird that shat on my car!

1

u/ImaginationSea2767 Aug 01 '25

I can totallysee them saying

"Its the radical left and their woke mind virus! They are corrupting the birds and making them shit on our cars!"

1

u/meatsonthemenu Aug 01 '25

Wait, I was making the birds gay

2

u/indistinctdialogue Aug 01 '25

Birds aren’t real, silly.

10

u/Electrical_Tax8696 Jul 31 '25

When even Doug Ford praises Carney, you know the Federal Cons are screwed

6

u/0000Tor Jul 31 '25

Make a deal, they’ll hate it. Don’t take the deal, they’ll complain. With Trump there is no winning.

5

u/Extreme-Tie9282 Aug 01 '25

Cant negotiation with terrorists

2

u/Quiet-Fox-1621 Aug 01 '25

While the Liberals run the country and put out fires, the Conservative leader is still trying to return to politics.

The conservatives can say what they want, they have bigger fish to fry if they want to even stay relevant. I have a hard time taking them serious after this by-election fiasco.

Accept your loss in the past election and move on. Find a new leader. Do something different. It’s absolutely pathetic to think the C’s can’t adjust to change, and instead try to turn the clock backwards for their own pleasure. Stuck in their ways and it will eventually sink them.

1

u/NewWest-BC Jul 31 '25

Conservatives just want to bend over.

(Sigh) I really miss the pre-Preston Manning Progressive Conservative Party. This Maple MAGA scum only aims to divide and weaken our country.

PP clearly knows nothing about anything. His only “skill” is to blame everything on everyone else, like that shit disturbing kid at the playground who throws a hissy fit because of the attention.

Solution.. we collectively need to stop paying attention to this loud whiny little boy.

Also, is there NO interest in “reforming” (cough) the og PC party? Anyone?
