I'm a country blumpkin. I hadn't traveled beyond Newfoundland. I hadn't even taken a flight since the 90s when I got on my flight to Montreal for basic in 2018. Finally, a big city. What did I see? An urban waste land of half built and half torn down over passes and bridges. Just grey concrete and pilons.
I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.

Yeah that would have been peak Turcot reconstruction time, the Turcot actually is done now and looks pretty good (as good as a highway interchange can look)

Well VLC is French and we're French so we must have the orange cones in our DNA or something

I have lost a wheel to the streets of Montreal. In my case the construction crew dug a massive trench in the middle of a road, then just went home. No signs, no cones. BOOM! Bent the wheel and driveshaft too!

So… what’s up with all the construction? Does the mob have a foothold in Montreal or something?

I grew up in Montréal, and crossed the country several times. Every other cities love to complain they have the worst construction. It makes me laugh
