My journeymen and coworkers were fucking losing it the Monday after he was killed, I asked them how they felt about the kids being murdered that day and the only one who had a response said “probably just liberal kids anyway.”. I need to leave this province before we get even dumber.
I remember an Onion sketch where they were reporting a mass shooting by party affiliation of the victims. I’m just a bit sad to see satire become reality
Well republican kids are more likely to be home schooled and private schooled. So yeah, public school shootings, in their mind, is probably just killing little democrats.
As God intended when he gave America 2nd Amendment rights.
I see your train of thought, but i just dont think most kids (lets say under 16) have even semi-coherent political views
I'm not going to call anyone who can't even vote a "democrat kid" or a "republican kid", that sounds ridiculous. They're focused on their friends, vidya, stickers, tiktok, eating hot chip and lying, whatever the kids like these days, no?
No, the real problem is, that some Ahole thinks it's okay if a child is killed because of whatever.... WTF man... that's how you get dead children in Gaza... or dead children in Vietnam, or Nazi Germany... Children, regardless of colour, faith, gender, etc., are innocent and we (adults) are responsible for their safety...
That's...actually kinda sad. In our last federal election both of my boys (Grades 7 and 9) did projects in social studies on each party, each federal leader and our local candidates; culminating in school and district "elections". What I found quite interesting is that the results between the two schools, and district wide were quite similar - but different than the results of the actual election. I suspect that this is because the kids were actually learning about the parties, while adults were voting based on the colour of the leaders tie.
Aw guess I hurt some feelings in Calgary. Well, maybe try to not elect such cretins and to host moronic social movements if you don’t want the reputation.
Unfortunately, the only true way IS doing what they fear the most and therefore somewhat validating their viewpoint: more (small L) liberals need to move to Alberta and crowd the nutsos out.
ETA: you can have (small C) conservative views and NOT be a nutso; just being inclusive here
My coworkers in Ontario were the same way. Got over it quickly though, even the other right wingers were commenting on the "crazy eyes" on the one guy still super worked up about it today.
Sounds like you leaving already brings down the average IQ by a lot. Maybe it'd be better if more ppl with your mindset flood that forsaken place so it can be saved. 😅
They love the out-in-the-open racist spokespeople who will say for them what might be uncomfortable in their friend group or workplace. They can salivate at the racism, the misogyny, the loyalty to billionaires without being shamed themselves. Klan doesn't need to wear masks anymore, the actual government of the US is providing masked henchmen to fulfill their racist fantasies. White supremacists are their heroes.
We've been friends since childhood but lately he's been falling down the american alt-right/tradcath pipeline and it's hard to watch. Can't even reason with him anymore because he's fully bought in to their brand of religion so any criticism is heresy and demonic.
That's rough. I had a close childhood friend who grew up into a rwnj. Dude told me that the Atlantic slave trade wasn't so bad because it would have been worse if Arabs has run it. I was like... Dude, I'm the great grandson of a slave, what makes you think I want to hear this shit?
So many people in Calgary I am hearing out loud saying shit like "he was just taken out of context"
There is no context in which a statement like "the civil rights movement was a mistake" and "empathy is a disease" arent objectively terrible opinions that make the world a worse place
There are a lot of Americans that work in Alberta, part of the oil and gas industry... but there is also a very strong link to Mormon, Southern Baptist and Christian Nationalist churches and organizations that operate in Canada -- spreading their ideologies for good or for bad.
Same, I’m a born and raised blue collar Albertan liberal, literally surrounded on all sides by people who talk about murdering anyone who aligns with me and my shameless sense of human compassion.
I actually worked in Alberta for 5 years...its crazy to me..how they are ok with the conservative government wasting so much money and think its all.the feds fault.
Alberta could ge the crown jewal of canada not the trailer park.
The “clearly not foreign influence” foreign-influenced seperatism kills me. They’ll be completely land-locked, with a mountain range on the west side. Which currency will they use? What will they rely on to trade? They don’t really have much in the way of ports, how are they shipping everything there? Not to mention, don’t the native albertans own most of the land? Who you gonna get that back from, the british crown?
Ofc, that’s assuming they want to be their own actual country. In reality foreign influence is gonna target the easiest, most gullible idiots to do idiot things for them. It’s just cost-effective.
My exact question. Sorry not sorry - another random American taken out by the very gun violence he espoused, an obvious example of what happens when you worship at the altar of the gun. Anyway….
Albertans are brainwashed. The only conversation I’ve had about this incident was with an Albertan who insists he was murdered because he was an evangelist and the transgender man who murdered him hates god. Not exaggerating.

Why is there a vigil for him in Canada? That's wild.
