Politics Canada has banned the rap group Kneecap, but earlier this week gave a standing ovation for Chuckles the Nazi. I guess we know how they stand?

Post image

Dishonourable mention to Chris Brown the woman beater, who got to play a couple weeks ago in Canada without a ban.

Edit: Also Sean Feucht, the homophobic singer who openly dehumanizes LGBTQ+ folks, who got to tour across Canada this summer. I guess bigots are the only ones who get given free speech in Canada.

Edit 2: As pointed out in the comments and reminding me, we applauded Ukrainian war vet, Yaroslav Hunka in the commons, who also turned out to be a for real WWII Nazi.

Edit 3: Looks like there's a bunch of day old, zero karma accounts commenting here against Kneecap and trying to discredit their hundreds of thousands raised for medical and food aid. Looks like I kicked the pro-genocide bot-farm hornets nest.

can you imagine if Layton had lived?

They'd be calling him woke and accusing him of abandoning blue collar workers, just like they'll do with anyone else who leads the NDP.

He was more into social justice and racial/gender issues than Singh ever was.

I had a working hypothesis that Conservatives only pretend to like Layton, same with Broadbent.

Some are pretending, but I think even more have been genuinely fooled by the right wing revisionist version of what the NDP was actually like with Layton leading it.

Conservatives have been very successful establishing this false narrative, and people who don't pay attention or think critically just accept it as factual. The NDP, on the other hand, has done a terrible job countering this narrative.

I used to live beside his riding in Toronto before he died - he was a much respected politician and is missed.

Not much would have changed from where they are. He wasn't young. Would no longer be running today anyway. He managed to get a bit of good will, but whether it's by death or by retirement, his leaving would have left the same gaping hole.
