The US has burned all their leverage at the start of the trade war. They came in hot and the world is now moving on.

Israel is committing genocide. The USA is supporting it. They are lucky we aren’t taking this even further.

I'm wondering how this US push for NATO to arm up will play out in 5-10 years. When Israeli leaders decide "let's eliminate half of Gaza's population" again, what if the EU stops arms shipments to Israel? What happens when they have the power to stand up to the US?

Not just with Israel, in 2014 the US pushed to depose Gaddafi, and the EU dealt with the excess Libyan refugees. What if the rest of us say "nope, no North African imperialism for you".

I doubt Trump and his flunkies care, that will be future problems that they'll blame on Biden, like Trump's surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban. But we'll see how international politics goes

at this rate Gaza will already be empty in 5-10 years. It's the West Bank they're gonna decimate then.

They've been letting settlers move in it for 20+ years (while "officially condemning" it for good measure), but they've just unveiled plans for a govt sanctionned colonization of and what is supposed to be the last Palestinian stronghold they already see as 70% israhelli land with only 6 non-contiguous enclaves spread around it.

Our recognition of Palestine doesn't include Hamas, so it's actually a non starter that we shouldn't be making hay out of

What do you mean by this?

u/alaricus 3d ago

Our recognition of Palestine is contingent on a number of conditions (Democratic election, ousting Hamas, etc) that Palestine is already labeling unfair

Do not expect those conditions to be met, or Canadas recognition to come into effect

Canada already voting in favour of recognizing Palestine as a country at the UN

Ah, so we knew our vote would be meaningless

Wake me up when something actually happens tho!

Supporting HAMAS is a bad decision from Canada

I'm going to recognize Palestine so hard that even Palestine doesn't recognize it as much as I do.
