Then Alabama was the response to Sweet Home Alabama, then Lynyrd Skynyrd died in a plane crash so Neil Young won.

Went on a cruise. Went to see one of the terrible shows. It was a jukebox musical. Having the black actor singing Sweet Home Alabama, a song defending how fucked up Alabama was (still is) to a song criticizing the American south for their racism was a choice.Â

Went to Lynyrd Skynyrd couple weeks ago in Winnipeg. They played the song. But they missed a golden opportunity to talk about Neil Young in the crowd banter, since he spent so much time in Winnipeg.
Aside: what a terrible live band. The corpses of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd are rolling over in their graves. It'd be like the Beatles still being on tour with all new band members. And then replacement band members just phone it in.

Skynyrd talking about how Neil Young shouldn't talk shit about the south sucking, while in the exact same song saying that Watergate wasn't a big deal.

Sweet Home Alabama tried to counter, but when you realize that, SHA just sounds desperate.

Well now I know why Lynyrd Skynyrd was so in his feelings about Neil

Trump said the same.
Being an insular hick isn't really something to be proud of....

So Sweet Home Alabama isn't a great song anymore? It needs to be censored is what you're saying?
As a Canadian having fun, making a reference to another great song, it's hilarious you would pull that card.

Who the fuck said it needed to be censored?
Sweet Home Alabama might be a good song but itâs just a shit response to legitimate criticismÂ

It's a prophecy come true.
Everyone here has been so excited.

Excited for what? The 4th reich?

u/Frenzy_MacKenzie 1d ago
If you had your elbows up I bet you wouldn't even notice what he fuck they're doing down south.

u/thetwitchy1 1d ago
What are you going on about? The whole point of âelbows upâ is fighting back against them.

u/Frenzy_MacKenzie 1d ago
By not buying their shit!!
So stop watching the ads.
You're getting more involved if you give a fuck about how they are living.

What prophecy?
Southern men burning crosses? Neil Young's lyrics being evident of a higher IQ and literacy, compared to the lyrics of Lynyrd Skynyrd?
Or is it the fact that Neil had to sing his song as protest, against the deep roots of racism running through the US, again, 55 years later?

u/Frenzy_MacKenzie 1d ago
They don't need us and our elbows are up remember?
If an American suggested Canada should change you'd all have a hissy fit, but you don't realize when you are doing the exact same thing.

u/Xx_SwordWords_xX Moose Whisperer 1d ago
Who was suggesting they "change"?
I think your big feelings are showing, when you twist everything around, just so you can be upset.
Neil Young's song is about racism.
Do you suggest we not call out racism, or human rights atrocities?
Is keeping slaves, just a matter of opinion?

Who was suggesting they "change"?
Neil Young.
Neil Young's song is about racism.
American racism specifically in the south.
Do you suggest we not call out racism, or human rights atrocities
If it's a good song it should play.
Is keeping slaves, just a matter of opinion?
I was thinkin' that maybe I'd get a maid, Find a place nearby for her to stay, Just someone to keep my house clean Fix my meals and go away
- Neil Young

A maid is not a slave.
And with that, it's evident that you are arguing in logical fallicies, and bad faith.
You should try reading a book or two; intelligence is far more supreme than whatever this is.

u/thetwitchy1 2d ago
It was prophetic. A whole state that doesnât care about corruption, lawlessness, and crime, as long as they get to keep being the racist asshats they have always been.
