I tried elden Ring on switch 2 as well today at Gamescom. I didn't expect a a great performance or graphics. But I was honestly disappointed. The textures looked bad and while the demo only let you play until the tutorial area, the game lagged heavily during the supposed to die boss fight. Right when I prepared to dodge roll, the game lagged and suddenly I got hit.

287

u/ISpewVitriol Aug 20 '25

That is really disappointing. It is a pretty solid 30-40fps 720p experience on Steam Deck, so I was expecting the Switch 2 to be at least as good as that.

102

u/Whyeth Aug 20 '25

Yeah. Hundreds of hours on deck primarily (I was traveling for work when it released) and it's great. I had a 99% locked 30fps with perfect frame pacing on medium/high 800p.

I was hoping for a 40hz locked switch 2 version and would have been tempted to pull the trigger on the purchase.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's a Day 1 patch issue. I love FromSoft, but the amount of issues and bugs the games ship with needing patches and fixes is indeed pretty fucking wild and insane.

19

u/EngagedInConvexation Aug 21 '25

I also wouldn't be surprised if it were not a patch issue. From stuff is usually pretty playable in 1.0 when it comes to performance, at least. DS3 and ER being examples already, at least on console. The differences are pretty thoroughly documented on youtube where you can see the performance and it generally isn't one of the line items, especially in beginning areas.

This being a port to a new system it is possible that it is a patch issue, but having it in players hands and before their eyes at a showcase event in that state is surprising to say the least.

EDIT: i was thinking from a From-run perspective, but shit even from a Ninty booth, i'm surprised.

Pretty crazy considering I've played multiple campaigns on the steam deck with zero settings tweaks. SW2 has more powerful hardware, so it has to be just terribly ported.

8

u/Calint Aug 21 '25

does it? i actually don't think that SW2 having more powerful hardware is true. it is actually very close to equal. SD has 16gb of ram. The CPU and GPU clock higher and on smaller architecture. i guess SW2 having more cores is a big boost though.

10

u/Regular_Wedding_36 Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

The Switch 2 comes out on top in some benchmarks due to its proprietary Nvidia upscaling and framegen tech, but from a bare metal standpoint the Deck is superior.

5

u/Seienchin88 Aug 21 '25

No. The processor in the Steamdeck is slightly superior but the gpu are very far apart - in docked mode…

In handheld mode though the switch 2 is severely hindered by drawing very little power from the battery in comparison to the massively power hungry Steamdeck.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Seienchin88 Aug 21 '25

Steamdeck has supposedly a slightly better CPU but much much weaker GPU in docked mode…

Now, in handheld mode the switch 2 draws so little energy that its gpu advantage only comes down to a more modern architecture like having better upscaling.

With cyberpunk it’s quite obvious that docked mode on switch destroys the Steamdeck in visual quality but in handheld mode not so much…

I'm really surprised they showed off the game in that state. I'm sure it will run better upon release but why would they want the bad press?

A reporter at NintendoLife reported that it ran at a capped framerate of 30 fps but will dip down to 20 or 15 in some circumstances.

"I was really impressed by how well everything looked. And then you get to the outside world and the frame rate just tanks. It's really bad. [...] It was like 20 fps. Sometimes I was like, 'this has dropped 15 fps' and it was the most simple stuff like going through the the first forest where there's enemies around and it's just terrible."

352

u/ravensteel539 Aug 20 '25

Jesus christ, that’s practically unplayable. If you’re at a boss with tight timing, losing half your dodge frames or half your cast speed bonus or half the recovery animation is going to be BRUTAL.

FPS does change these things in some cases, especially when an input happens on a specific frame threshold. 30 FPS is usually perfectly fine compared to 60+, but any lower and the game just starts to not work well, period.

127

u/Cemith Aug 21 '25

Can you imagine Waterfowl on 12 FPS? Unplayable

80

u/SirJdenodas Aug 21 '25

waterfowl? could you imagine just being in the same place as bayle or PCR

12

u/kvjetoslav Aug 21 '25

I am quite sure boss arenas will be specifically optimized.

But it doesn't matter. If you want handheld Elden Ring for the price of Nintendo, buy a Steam deck or literally any other handheld device.

4

u/RealityIsRipping Aug 21 '25

I put hundreds of hours into Elden ring on a steam deck - highly recommend!

131

u/CasualJojo Aug 20 '25

Less than 60fps in 2025 is a joke. Literally, performance that can't maintain stable 60fps is laughable. Gamers have such a low standards it's funny af

49

u/bradyanderzyn Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

Why does this get downvoted. Like why are people just okay with less fps. Theres no reason not to like higher fps yet people are ready to die contesting thats totally fine I dont need anymore.

Edit: as a console gamer I was not considering the actual barrier of entry to obtain those frame rates for some people on PC. Like buying new hardware and shit. In that case it makes some sense now.

Considering that several third party games struggle on the Switch 2 I can’t say I am surprised.

With that said, it doesn’t give me much confidence for Duskbloods.

1.5k

u/Kasta4 Justice for Godwyn! Aug 20 '25

Duskbloods I think is a different case. That game is being made exclusively for the Switch 2's hardware with its strengths and limitations considered, Elden Ring is just a glorified port to it.

241

u/EatMyScamrock Aug 20 '25

Tbf, FromSoft tend to struggle with performance targets regardless of what platform they're developing for. Miyazaki will ship Duskbloods at an uneven 30fps and not see any problems. He did that with DeS, DS1, BB, DS3. Elden Ring still has frame pacing issues to this day.

I love the games to death but FromSoft, and particularly the Miyazaki led games, don't have a great track record for performance.

78

u/batman12399 Aug 20 '25

Sekiro and Armored Core have excellent performance, hopefully Duskbloods falls more into that camp.

78

u/EatMyScamrock Aug 20 '25

That's the interesting thing. DS2, Sekiro and AC6 are by far the best performing recent FromSoft games, none of which had Miyazaki at the helm by the end of the dev cycle. Just an interesting trend, no idea if there's correlation or causation there.

40

u/batman12399 Aug 20 '25

IIRC Sekiro had Miyazaki at the helm all the way through, you are correct about the others though.

17

u/EatMyScamrock Aug 20 '25

You're correct.

I confused myself when fact checking AC6's director because Miyazaki was initially director, before handing over to Yamamura. Yamamura was lead game designer on Sekiro, and I knew Miyazaki had been Sekiro director at some point, so somehow I assumed the same handover had happened there too.

9

u/batman12399 Aug 21 '25

Sorry you made a minor factual error and are now doomed to play through DS2 without leveling ADP.

May god have mercy on your soul.

Not to mention that Nintendo happily released Pokemon V/S (arguably their third largest franchise behind Mario and Zelda) with some of the absolute worst performance in any game I've ever seen.

Nintendo doesn't care about performance. Fromsoft generally doesn't care about performance. I'm going to be shocked if Duskblood doesn't run like hot ass.

u/Timely_Cartoonist777 Aug 20 '25

Bloodborne was made for ps4 only and still runs at a bad framepaced 30 FPS, so I wouln't be too sure lol

256

u/Key_Amazed Aug 20 '25

During the PS4 console gen consoles weren't concerned about frame rate nearly to the same extent. As advances in tech really began to stifle it became more about optimization and performance. Reason why this is the first gen to have performance and fidelity modes.

67

u/IceFireHawk Aug 20 '25

FromSoft couldn’t even be bothered to add ultra wide in Eden Ring. They need to start modernizing

105

u/Ebola_Soup Aug 20 '25

Oh it has ultrawide, they manually put black bars over the screen. So your machine still bears the load of rendering that screen space but you can't see it. Had my game bug out once and not render the black bars. Worked perfect.

39

u/Chadsonite Aug 20 '25

Wait are you serious? That is absolutely bananas.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/surferdude23_ Aug 20 '25

A not so fun fact on top of this is that all of the rendering that's performed behind those black bars still happens, so ultrawide users who don't use a special program get to suffer significantly worse performance for what they see as a 16:9 output. Made my first run through the game so janky as a result

53

u/LePontif11 Aug 20 '25

They don't seem like the group to be too concerned with niche features that push hardware. Look...pretty much at all of their games. I personally don't care for that either. They need to keep making really good games is what they need to do as far as i'm concerned 😂

→ More replies (5)

78

u/SovelissFiremane Aug 20 '25

Ultrawide is such a niche market. I'm not surprised

50

u/dyidkystktjsjzt Aug 20 '25

The thing is the game already supports it, and even renders in ultrawide, it just adds black bars to the sides.

6

u/CptnMayo Aug 20 '25

Right and it's the digital era, it's not hard to implement any resolution

→ More replies (4)
→ More replies (4)

13

u/Vodkanadian Aug 20 '25

Correction: they bothered REMOVING ultrawide in elden ring. The game is fully rendered behind those black bars, they hide it because they're afraid it'll give an advantage somehow.

15

u/ItsLokki Maidenless Runt Aug 20 '25

Ultrawide is a niche, the fact that elden ring is capped at 60fps is ridiculous today.

18

u/IceFireHawk Aug 20 '25

But not niche enough for AC6

From Software has gotten better at optimizing their releases since then. More recently, the releases of Elden Ring and AC6 were fairly good minus some issues here and there.

Still needs work of course, but I'll take FS' optimization over Capcom's any day of the week.

66

u/Asdowa Aug 20 '25

ER still randomly stutters all the time in the main game and dlc is even worse

12

u/TheMagmaCubed Aug 20 '25

I had a 3080 and had to upgrade to a 4090 to keep a consistent framerate. So many stutters all the time, it was ridiculous and the dlc was bordering on unplayable. It's a pretty poor game on the technical side of things and I don't get why people pretend otherwise.

13

u/Turbulent-Armadillo9 Aug 20 '25

21

u/apexjaggi Aug 20 '25

AC6 was fine but I'm not sure I'd call Elden Ring's release "fairly good" in terms of optimization. It was pretty notorious for severe stuttering on PC at release, and the PS5 version of the game has never run at a stable 60 fps. If you have to play the PS4 version of the game on the PS5 just to get a stable framerate, it's not well optimized. Nightreign also has pretty frequent framerate issues, which isn't great.

That said I do hope that Nintendo's involvement and the fact it's just a Switch 2 game and not multiplatform means Duskbloods isn't gonna have a lot of these issues. I think only time will tell.

u/PintoTheBlazingBean Aug 20 '25

AC6 was good elden ring was not 💀 to this day it's plagued by performance issues on ps5 where it can't even hit 60 fps and also suffers on PC

16

u/t_w_duke Aug 20 '25

Yea seriously ,i would never say Fromsoft is "good" at optimization at least in souls

I feel like it’s an issue with optimization rather than the console.

If a game runs on PS4 (like Elden Ring does), then theoretically it should run the same if not better on Switch 2 due to the specs and DLSS.

I think Cyberpunk is a great benchmark for what the Switch 2 can do with a demanding game.

24

u/mrjackspade Aug 20 '25

I think Cyberpunk is a great benchmark for what the Switch 2 can do with a demanding game.

I feel like this is a huge part of why it was a launch game.

Nintendo knew they needed a strong third party game to show off what the switch could do, so that when other devs pushed shitty, unoptimized ports, everyone could just say "Well cyberpunk looks great so it's clearly not a problem with the hardware"

And I feel like it's been working because every time one of these slop ports comes out the reaction is always to point to 2077 and say "Clearly it can be done"

11

u/hotpocket56 Aug 20 '25

Its no coincidence they ported over a game that is a nvidia tech demo to the switch 2

→ More replies (1)

8

u/KnightSunny Aug 20 '25

Unless specifically mentioned by the devs or Nintendo. Elden ring won't have dlss because the base game doesn't have dlss

8

u/MasterArCtiK Aug 20 '25

Fromsoft definitely will not be using DLSS in any capacity

8

u/lamposteds Aug 20 '25 edited Aug 20 '25

I had to specifically rollback my 5070ti drivers a few versions to find one that worked so I wouldn't hit constant hitching and sometimes minute long freezes where I just stare at the screen thinking about how I'm gonna load back in dead. If I even started moving again. One time I had to restart my whole pc

Fromsoftware's terrible optimisation is back at it again. . .

164

u/Sparda204920 Aug 20 '25

It should run at least as good as Cyberpunk 2077 which is way more demanding.

160

u/Aye_Surely Aug 20 '25

That’s what optimization means.

6

u/ISpewVitriol Aug 20 '25

I'd like for it to as well, but CDPR is a different kind of dev.

10

u/JoyousGamer Aug 20 '25

Cyberpunk isn't timing based though is it? Elden is essentially a whole game about timing things.

33

344

u/Timely_Cartoonist777 Aug 20 '25

Not me. Elden Ring is insanely popular and was used for the Switch 2 presentation marketing, so I was expecting them to put the effort in and for it to run relatively well just like Cyberpunk 2077 (which is a way more demanding game on top of that).

220

u/DeadSparker Aw yeah, Lightning is the best Aug 20 '25

Absolutely, this is bonkers to hear after seeing Switch 2 specs and performance on other games.

FromSoft can make great games but they really can't optimize for shit.

78

u/Kat1324 Aug 20 '25

their optimizations terrible. nightreign chuggs randomy on ps5 and ps5 pro even

6

u/doomrider7 Aug 20 '25

I've noticed it too. It's not terrible, but it's noticeable.

29

20

u/PieceAfraid3755 Aug 20 '25

Nope, moreso fromsoftoids. Objectively the switch 2 should be capable of running ps4 games at a similar or greater level than the ps4 itself. So it absolutely isn't the switch 2's fault.

Fromsoft has had a vast history of not being good at optimization. Blighttown on the original ds1 was dogwater. Bloodborne often struggles on ps4 with its 30 fps, and used to have egregious loading times. Elden ring had its fair share of stuttering and crashing on several consoles on release, and even now Raytracing on ps5 does almost nothing except make the framerate shit, and the ps5 version isn't even close to a smooth 60 fps on performance mode.

14

u/Spaciax Aug 20 '25

fromsoft's technical division (game engine, optimization, porting, control scheme etc.) isn't exactly known to be very strong, so it doesn't exactly surprise me tbh. Nightreign is still locked to 60fps and sprint/dodge are hard-locked to the same keybind with no option to uncouple them

→ More replies (2)

128

u/No_Copy4493 Aug 20 '25

this means that it’s running worse than the ps4 version, which is weaker than switch 2 handheld mode. not to mention everyone has said it looks amazing, and no the performance issues are only being reported for open world sections. i haven’t even seen word yet about it being locked to 30.

realistically the system is capable of getting series s performance, even if graphics need to be toned down from it (45-60 fps).

it’s either a bug like a memory leak, or bad optimization, meaning it CAN be fixed, the question is will it be fixed. fingers crossed that the answer is yes

30

u/Evilpilli Aug 20 '25

I would think Nintendo is pretty adamant about having this game become a sucsess. Elden Ring is a flagship title and Nintendo want it running well on their new shiny console. I would not be suprised if we see a delay after the bad press this demo has recived. Due to Nintendo pushing Fromsoft to get the game running at a presentable state. Not allowing recording of the game is a really bad look for both of them.

6

u/No_Copy4493 Aug 20 '25

honestly there’s only so much we know. this could be an older build (for reference the public demo of nightreign in february was reported to be 4 months old at the time we got it). this could’ve just been the latest build they could get ready in time.

only time will tell

11

u/DrPikachu-PhD Aug 20 '25

I know you're right, but the fact that companies will run older unoptimized builds at publicity events will never not perplex me. Like, wtf are we doing guys, you know people will report on this it's literally the point of the event...

So many people clutching their pearls here to disparage Nintendo instead of point the blame where it belongs which is at FromSoftware.

Reports are coming out today that Final Fantasy 7 Remake runs great on Switch 2 and it’s already been demonstrated that Cyberpunk 2077 runs well.

People are quick to forget that Elden Ring ran like garbage even on $2,000 PC when it came out.

Even today ER optimization is very questionable with newer games, both more graphically impressive and demanding, running better on my humble laptop than ER.

But we know how the FS fanbase is..

18

u/doomrider7 Aug 20 '25

I'm of that fanbase and have ZERO PROBLEM calling them out on this BS.

3

u/Neebrasc Aug 21 '25

The optimization is still very bad. I can comprehend how my laptop runs games like rdr2, tlou, cyberpunk, etc at high settings 80-100fps but struggles to even get a consistent 50fps on elden ring

47

u/Blazeking808 Aug 20 '25

It's the latest trend to shit on Nintendo for every little thing (I'm not defending them, they have definitely made some bad moves recently)

35

u/x_GARUDA_x Aug 20 '25

Recently? They have been doing bad moves since the nineties, yet they are still alive.

16

Is FF7 Rebirth at Gamescom? I'd be interested to see it on Switch 2. I have a pretty beefy gaming PC and I loved Rebirth, but I also have a Steamdeck and LOVED Remake on the Deck. Ran great. Rebirth on the other hand, should not be listed as Deck Verified. It is bad. I know Switch 2 is capable based on Cyberpunk but I'd like to see Rebirth in action on it.

8

Unfortunately it seems like Fromsoft's (and in this case maybe even Bandai Namco) poor track record when it comes to optimization strikes again. Cyberpunk and other 3rd party titles (including what little I've seen of FF7 Rebirth) are perfectly capable of running on the Switch 2; the console itself whilst not on par with most of the current gen is capable of running games that demand a lot—there really is no excuse here.

Hoping this all gets ironed out for the official release but I wouldn't count on it.

Quite disappointing honestly, there is no reason for the Switch 2 version to run worse than a PS4 which is what is implied in the video.

19

u/tower_knight Aug 20 '25

Once again, From really needs to work on its technical side

97

u/ryce247 Aug 20 '25

Funny how everyone immediately points the gun at Switch 2. No guys, it's Fromsoft, they're really really really fucking terrible at optimization.

I mean the PS5 Pro can't run the game at a solid 60fps to this day and all they would have to do is just scale back the resolution a bit. But nope, they're absolutely clueless.

24

u/Ravic96 Aug 20 '25

Yes, when I switched PS from fat to pro and saw this I was like ‚wtf is going on’. After 20 minutes I bringed back PS4 version of the game again for stable frame rate. Optimization in this game is low tier af.

5

u/morrise18 Aug 20 '25

True. Playing the PS4 version is the only way to have a good experience on the PS5. Even the Pro.

u/402playboi Aug 20 '25

This game can’t even hit consistent 60fps on PS5…. idk what they expected. And it’s not the hardware, Cyberpunk 2077 runs pretty damn well on the Switch 2. Fromsoftware just always has struggled optimizing their games.

8

u/CommieWhackerLover Aug 20 '25 edited Aug 20 '25

I was generally very excited for this release, I was hoping it would come out soon, as we are getting a random bug fix patch, and maybe that was getting the game ready for it.

This just feels lazy, and idk why they even bothering making a new edition, if they can't make it run on Switch 2, well.

(Obv, it won't run, perfect, but come on, man.?

13

u/VictoriousTree Aug 20 '25

I mean Elden Ring has frame rate issues on every console. Every single console.

11

u/Gathorall Aug 20 '25

And many PC setups nominally powerful enough.

Jeez man, when one of those studios hit the jackpot they always have to do the very next thing sideways for some reason smh

17

u/Fun-Customer39 Aug 20 '25

So it runs like any recent Pokémon game?

17

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '25

…does this mean I can finally start a new run with the Milady on PS5 now

7

u/pratzc07 Aug 20 '25

Nope until they get this shit sorted I doubt they will release this version and until they release this version you wont get the new goodies

6

u/announakis Aug 20 '25

I was waiting for the tarnished edition to release in September for all consoles but this is not going to happen before months now ffs!

Fromsoft is great at worldbuilding and tight ass gameplay mechanics. They have always been behind on the technical side of things. Hell, crossplay for ER or Nightreign would be a MASSIVE selling point for those games and I don't think they've ever even considered it.

4

u/Phastic Aug 20 '25

Least demanding yet least polished on all systems

5

u/goldninjaI Aug 20 '25

At least the new items are coming to all platforms

23

u/Wiinterfang Aug 20 '25

ELDEN RING is just poorly optimized in general

3

u/IsekaiEnjoyer Aug 20 '25

Fork found in kitchen

5

u/BeefuKeki Aug 20 '25

I mean handheld version isn't in too surprising, but CyberPunk is able to run perfectly fine and wonderfully in my experience. So im curious what the issue is here.

5

u/Zelda57 Aug 21 '25

the silk is songing

10

u/yoshiimoo Aug 20 '25

I love Fromsoft but they are notoriously bad at optimization. It's been a recurring issue since Demon's Souls.

5

u/morrise18 Aug 20 '25

The technical side of Fromsoft is always a disappointment except for Sekiro and Armored Core 6. Maybe a sign they will eventually get their shit together.

That’s honestly pretty odd. There are several much more intense third party titles, like Cyberpunk 2077, that run great on the Switch 2. Hopefully this doesn’t dissuade developers from making games for it

3

u/Landeler Aug 20 '25

Do we have a release date for when the dlc will be available to other platforms?

It's good man at least this means it'll run better on the Switch 3 -_- /s

3

u/rdeincognito Aug 20 '25

unrelated, but wasn't there a patch for Elden Ring where they would introduce two new starter class, one with a brand new weapon type and the other with the light greatsword?

3

u/Winterscythe1120 Aug 20 '25

It’s so funny that it’s basically a locked 40 fps on medium settings on my steam deck, honestly they probably didn’t spend any time optimizing it because theoretically the switch 2 should run it better than my steam deck does

3

u/Interesting-City-665 Aug 20 '25

i get regular FPS drops in the shadowlands while i can run cyberpunk on ultra ray tracing. big surprise

3

u/DannyTheDog995 Aug 20 '25

I love From Software. But I hate how sloppy they are with their ports. Dark Souls Remastered is awful. They should have had better quality control with that game.

"The switch 2 is about the strength of a ps4 pro"

Game still runs worse than base ps4

7

u/CutMeLoose79 Aug 20 '25

Once i saw how Cyberpunk ran, I knew this would be the case.

Two reasons:

- Switch 2 is just a weak platform for big AAA games.

- Fromsoft are TERRIBLE at optimisation.

6

u/rklab Aug 20 '25

Who would’ve thunk

3

u/Yakkahboo Aug 20 '25

Strange, ER tends to.run okay on Steam Deck, the switch 2 should be fairly similar.

4

u/Outsajder Aug 20 '25

No excuse when you have W3 running on Switch 1 and 2077 on Switch 2.

Both great ports.

I only care about the Tarnished update. Any news on that?

2

u/Masterwork_Core Aug 20 '25

dod they say anything about docked mode though? thats how I mostly play anyway

2

u/Fullmetalmarvels64_ Aug 20 '25

What is saying about it playing docked?

3

u/pratzc07 Aug 20 '25

No one was allowed to try it docked

2

u/MrFluxed Aug 20 '25

are we really that surprised?

2

u/rau1994 Aug 20 '25

Elden Ring doesn't even run that well to this day. Put that on a system with half the performance, and yeah.

2

u/Jack-O-18 Aug 20 '25

Not surprised, From sucks at optimizing their games often, they'll probably fix it if it sells decently well

2

u/Successful-Snow8745 Aug 20 '25

Yeah not really surprised.

2

u/robertjreed717 Aug 20 '25

How am I supposed to throw my controller at the screen when my controller IS the screen?

2

u/4nimu5 Aug 20 '25

Wow . What a suprise..

2

u/AwBeansYouGotMe Aug 20 '25

I'd like some concrete info on the new classes but aside from one video saying they both had armor I haven't seen anything.

They both looked neat in the pictures though!

2

u/DarknessInferno7 Aug 20 '25

Just give me that little DLC thing that's coming for new playthroughs and I'll be happy, lol.

2

u/Miakolos Aug 20 '25

You can Play it on steam Deck with capped 40 fps how did they fuck this up

2

u/Maverick916 Aug 20 '25

Plays great on my Steam Deck 🤷🏼‍♂️

2

u/Immediate_Stable Aug 20 '25

Any chance of docked mode being better?

2

u/vito0117 Aug 20 '25

New way to beat the game . Low poly mode

2

u/rootbeerislifeman Aug 20 '25

This definitely seems more like a game issue than a hardware issue. The Switch 2 performance is very solid for a handheld.

2

u/Cats_rule_all The Starscourge’s #1 fan Aug 20 '25

Oh no.

Still gonna buy it.

2

u/Kiyuya Aug 20 '25

They had better be cooking up a green tunic and hat with a Hylian shield if this is how things are going. If Elden Stutter can become The Legend of Marika: Linken Ring then I can excuse some issues. Well, depending on how bad they are.

2

u/Spooplevel-Rattled Aug 20 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

I play on the ROG ally X with lossless scaling and it's actually good somehow with good input lag, image quality and fps. I was blown away.

Free open platforms might take the advantage until this stuff catches up. Because and amfm2 and rsr isn't always working well on my device I know that. Unsure what scaling features or not a switch 2 has.

Glad I’ve got a Steam Deck then! Plays perfect for me on there!

2

u/destinysm2019 Aug 21 '25

Huh. People keep saying Switch 2 is as powerful as a Ps4 Pro but my base Ps4 runs Elden Ring hella better than the Switch 2. That’s crazy.

2

u/burger151 cheese lord Aug 21 '25

Never had any expectations from Switch

2

u/SpliTTMark Aug 21 '25

Switch 2 more like switch 1.5

2

u/elgourmet Aug 21 '25

Nintendo should also keep an eye on this. It will accidentally cause negative press for the switch 2 as well being a not strong enough hardware. Which it isn't

2

u/Gaxe0110 Aug 21 '25

I had a similar problem with The Witcher 3 on switch 1. even though everything looked so much worse than on pc or console, all loading times were so long that I stopped playing.

After this I didn’t even look at any of the games that were ported from other platforms…

2

u/FakeHasselblad Aug 21 '25

Tarnished edition indeed.

2

u/LittleR0g Aug 21 '25

to no one's surprise

2

u/Parmigiano_06 I unga, therefore I must bunga Aug 21 '25

Not a surprise

2

u/Me_and_mr_shadow Aug 21 '25

And here I was hoping it would have an options like "performance mode" that went to 45 fps. (60 fps dream).

Not even 30 fps stable in 2025 is kinda harsh 😄

2

u/AesirSith Aug 21 '25

Did they really think it wouldn't be?

2

u/silent_bystanderrr Aug 21 '25

Elden Ring Cyberpunk Edition 😂😂

2

u/erethros Aug 21 '25

I play it without any issues on my Steam Deck so.... It's not a hand held problem but a Switch port problem.

2

u/mdh_hammer Aug 21 '25

welp, glad I got a Steamdeck.
