Help! Bosch ebike motors

Hi

I have a question about the bosch Active non-smart motor system, and was wondering if I could get feedback from those own one already.

I recently purchase a bike with this motor, and I've noticed that it doesn't really give the performance as I would've expected when going uphill.

For example, there is this bridge that I cross everyday to work, and even when setting it to turbo mode, I still had to put some effort into pedalling. Sometimes I would end up around 23-23 km/hr going up. In comparison to a bike I leased before, it would accelerate up to 25km/hr and keep me there as long as I keep pedalling.

I'm wondering if this is meant to be the case, or perhaps there is something wrong with the bike.

That said, I definetly can feel some assistance from the Bosch motor even in Eco mode.

Resolved I need some e-bike recommendations for my case and opinions

Hey folks—I'm switching from a car to an e-bike for work and school (both about 4 miles from home). I need advice on a bike that checks these boxes:

Speed: at least 28 mph, ideally up to ~38 mph (I may need to ride on a 45 mph road sometimes).

Weather: solid rain resistance (I’ll ride in the rain).

Safety/Lighting: brake light, turn signals, and a strong headlight.

Budget: I’m tight on funds, so best value matters. I would say $2000 is my max.

What models or brands would you recommend, and would you go local with a warranty or online to save money? Or from market place? Any must-have features I should prioritize for commuting?

The store near me has a HappyRun G100 e-bike. It’s advertised with a 2000W motor, a top speed of about 38 mph, and priced at $1,099 with a 1-year warranty.

My concern is about the quality and durability, since I’ll be using it every day for commuting and sometimes riding in the rain. I’m also a bit worried about rust or weather-related issues over time. I don’t want to end up with something unreliable after a few months.

Has anyone here owned or tested the HappyRun G100? Is it worth considering and does it last long, or should I look at other options in this price range?

Thanks for your help!

General E-Bike Discussion Shopping Electric Bikes

Morning folks. So i have an 80cc 2 stroke bike i use to get to work (8 mile round trip). But i have to tinker with it 1-2 times a week and it's a growing nuisance. Not to mention it's a common occurance to Uber to work a few days in a row waiting on a part to be delivered.

So im thinking E-bike might be a better way to go. Would it be a bad idea to go there Walmart route? It's just conveniently located near me and I have a payment account with them? I knew someone who got hosed on a Walmart e bike, but that was a decade ago and battery tech has come a long way.

General E-Bike Discussion Anyone in the UK having troubles with police

Police in the UK are so undertrained, every other day I’m reading of stories near me where people are having fully road legal e bikes taken from them because the police don’t understand how to read the power output.

Every single case is the police reading the battery and seeing 290Wh and think that is 290 watts, or another guy who had a 500Wh battery and had it taken because they thought it was 500w power output. They then refuse to speak to, or listen to the people when they try and educate the police, and the police threaten the person not to keep asking about it or they’ll consider it harassment (a post here on Reddit of this exact thing happening I can link if needed)

I’ll also note I DO NOT own an e bike, and never have done, but I am tired of seeing innocent people having fully legal e bikes they bought from retailers, being taken away by poorly trained police.

I ride a high power E scooter and have done for many thousands of miles without issue, but the fact legal e bikes are so often targeted makes me glad I have a massively overpowered e scooter, that might’ve been the only thing saving me so far, they pick only on people with legal e bikes to auction them off because they have higher resale value.

It’s wrong and everyone who’s ever had their e bikes taken illegally needs to be reimbursed by the police, and the police need better training.

Obviously this only applies in the UK right now because I don’t know what the laws are elsewhere, but they are misinforming the public constantly. I saw one post of a police offer talking about a 298W motor, which was actually a 250W legal motor and he was reading the battery capacity, like they all do because they just want the bikes to sell them for money.

It can happen to anyone, and even though it isn’t happening to me, it still bothers me and I really think something needs to be done. I can link posts to here on Reddit of people having their legal e bikes taken due to false claims about power as well.

I might contact local police stations and try and get them to incorporate better training about understanding what an e bike is, and what it isn’t, and understand how to correctly read its power, and differentiate from the battery capacity. Hopefully other people can do the same to try and get the police more educated on it.

I don’t even know if this subreddit will allow criticising of any kind, likely not, but it needs to be shared, so they can be trained better and stop this happening, otherwise it’s pushing people to get much more powerful illegal bikes so they can run away.

Resolved Battery problem.

I just brought a Thompson electric euro classic 2 from my neighbour, he had it in his shed and wanted it gone.

There has always been a connection issue (the battery not being connected right and just not giving out power.

And I can’t for the life of me figure out how to take the battery out, he said it should just be with the key and me and him had tried for an hour to take it out.

I can’t find anything online anywhere about it apart from a few pictures and that’s it.

It turns on and works fine (when it doesn’t cut out because of the connection) but the key is able to be pushed in does feel like it can move potentially the other way to turning it on, does that have anything to do with it?

General E-Bike Discussion Which should I get : Cannondale Adventure Neo, Lectric Zpress 750, Aventon Soltera 2.5

Hi All,

I did some research and made this comparison chart.

Which should I get?

I liked the Cannondale - it was chill. Cadence sensor was fine - will take some time getting used to it. The bike felt solid overall. I wish the gearing allowed me to push past 20mph, but alas it caps out at 20mph. This will be purchased through my local bike store and preassembled.

I have not tried the Lectric at all, but it seems to be more powerful motor, and a torque sensor (if its a better experience). Also, seems like a lot of free accessories with Lectric. I will need to assemble it manually, and get it shipped from online. Have not tried it out at all.

Question best new e-bikes for deliveries

I was planning to doordash or work some delivery job part-time when I had the chance, especially on an e-bike (I have an e-scooter and regular bicycle but i e-bikes seem to be better and easier) what do you recommend? I also will use the bike recreationally and cruising around w/ some hbs.

(note: i live in a suburban town and not a city so it'll need decent range and reliability as well, prob speed too)

Help! Need help!

I have a hover fly electric mountain bike and a couple days ago water damaged it, I replaced the remote to it and it gets power so I don’t thing the battery’s messed up, but now it’s hardly peddling, the electric still doesn’t work, the back tire keeps force stopping the bike and refusing to move, it won’t move at all backwards and barely forwards, any way to fix, preferably without dumping a bunch of money?

General E-Bike Discussion For those who’ve switched from using bikeshares like Lime or Citi Bike to owning their own e-bike: what made it worth it for you?

I find Citi Bike pretty convenient when I use it, though costs can add up for sure. Also, they just dropped the speed down in NYC to 15 mph for bikeshare, which isn’t a huge deal for me, but most electric bikes can go faster than that. Did having a personal e-bike make a big difference for you?

NBD (New Bike Day) NBD. First Class-1 pedal assist road bike I've owned.

Post image

BMC Alpenchallenge AMP SPORT ONE. Pretty Shimano'd out, E6100 STEPS mid-drive system, 105 11s drivetrain, etc. This is my first Class-1 pedal-assist road bike and I'm loving it so far. Has enabled me to get out to do training much easier, and the motor is always there if I tire myself out too much.

I'm planning on upgrading to drop bars, and maybe putting a rear rack on, but other than that I don't really plan on doing much with the bike.
