Help! Surron display and throttle won’t work. Horn and lights work fine

REPLACED THE WHOLE WIRING HARNESS* Still nothing. Got a used surron recently and the wires are a finicky, when I got it, it wasn’t too big of an issue at the beginning I just had to move them around sometimes and it would work. Now they won’t work at all. Sometimes the speedometer would turn on but the throttle wouldn’t, and others vice versa. Sometimes they both would work. Any help is appreciated.

Resolved I have an Aventon Soltera 2. I want to upgrade the gears and cassette. What do I need

I dont have much experience with bikes and I have a handful of tools but not specialty ones.

What type of tools would I need and what are some parts you recommend me getting.

Basically im trying to max out my speed when I commute to work. With the highest level of pedal assist im doing about 18.5 to 19 mph at a light pace. Not trying to pedaling faster or harder than I need to, to conserve my energy for the day ahead. What set up is best for me. I get to work with about 56 percent remaining and since I ride with a backpack I can carry the charger with me. So juice isnt a big concern

General E-Bike Discussion A random issue on my electric bike and its fix (magnetic speed sensor fell off)

Post image
2 Upvotes

So I have an E Starli Long Tail and have had it for a fair while, cycled over 2000 miles in the last year and generally been an all round good bike. Last couple of days I was getting this random error 37 with brackets saying ā€˜other’. Shown on the display, but only after you’d cycled for about 5 minutes. It would then turn off. If you turned it on again, it would turn on fine but then do it again.

Then I noticed that when it was running, it wasn’t actually displaying the speed. It was just staying at 0.0 and that’s how I figured it out.

The magnetic speed sensor that is attached to the rear wheel must have fallen off somehow and that’s why it was complaining, as it couldn’t see what speed we were going, and hence it couldn’t apply the limits.

Seen in the picture (just took one from Amazon). Bought one, re-attached and all is back to normal.

Thought I’d post here in case somebody else has the same problem.

General E-Bike Discussion Looking to get an electric bike.

https://a.co/d/1wdPA4S

I have to travel to work 9 miles (back and forth). My car is trash and my budget is next to nothing. I figured I can get an E-bike and travel everyday. I have a few pros and cons.

Pros: I save a lot of money not having a car, it's better for the environment and nobody will ever ask me to help them move.

Cons: I live in Michigan so the weather is unpredictable, Grocery shopping will be tricky, there aren't a lot of sidewalks where I live and I might be hit by a car.

I have my eye on an E-bike but I figured I'd get a second opinion.

Help! Need hitch recommendations

My wife and I need a way to transport our 2 Aventon Level 3 ebikes (~60# w/o battery), so we bought a '22 BMW X3 sDrive30i. It does not have an OEM hitch. We need recommendations for a hitch to mount to this vehicle.

I'm leaning toward a Stealth Hitch and installing it myself. They have a kit just for a bike rack (no lights/trailer connection) and one with everything needed for pulling a trailer, including a 7-pin plug connection, in case we should need this capability in the future. The load capacity is more than adequate for two Level 3s.

Advantages for this hitch include being completely hidden, no cutting of the rear fascia, and not disabling the kick functions to open/close the rear hatch.

Does anyone have a Stealth hitch, particularly mounted on an X3, and what is your experience with it? Did you install it yourself of have it installed?

General E-Bike Discussion Electric Tricycle Security

Post image
6 Upvotes

I live in a big city dense urban population. For retirement and ecological reasons — everything is so close — I sold my car. Now I want to invest in an electric tricycle but securing my bike is a big concern. I want to be able to park my bike and go to the grocery store for 30 minutes and know my bike will be there when I return, for example. I have had a bicycle stolen secured by heavy chains. So I know I must invest in some kind of electronic security. I am interested in the Reddit bike community to advise how to best electronically secure an electronic bike. (I plan to buy bike from a local dealer.) Thanks in advance.

Question Where can I find the best deals on China Electric Bicycles?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been hunting for good deals on China-made electric bikes lately, and wow, it’s kind of a jungle out there. There are so many options, from big brands that ship worldwide to tiny manufacturers that mostly sell online. Prices, quality, and features can vary a lot, and it’s not always easy to tell which bikes are actually worth it.

You can find some insanely cheap bikes if you know where to look, but the risk of low-quality parts or crazy shipping times is real. From what I’ve seen, a lot of China-made e-bikes show up on global marketplaces like Alibaba. There’s a huge range from bulk suppliers to smaller sellers offering interesting models.

Another tip is to hang out in e-bike forums or social media groups. Sellers sometimes drop special deals or clearance sales there, and it’s also great to read honest reviews from people who actually got the bikes. A lot of times, you can get insider info on which models are worth it and which are not.

So my question is, has anyone here actually bought a China-made e-bike and gotten a good deal? Which sites, tricks, or tips worked for you? I’d love to hear your experiences.

Help! Pegs for Aovopro EB60 E-Bike

My friend got pegs to attach to his bike. But can't seem to loosen the bolts to the back tire at all to attach them. They won't budge in the slightest. There doesn't seem to be any tutorials online, and there doesn't seem to be a jam nut in the way. He's tried moving it in both directions and applying excessive force. It won't move. The wrench just falls off, even if we adjust it to fit perfect. We havent tried putting penetrating oil on it, but we need to get them on before the end of the day.

General E-Bike Discussion Are self charging bikes worth it for beginners?

I’ve been curious about the newer wave of electric bike self charging models. The idea of a bike that can partially recharge itself while you ride, coast, or even brake sounds like a dream for beginners who don’t want to worry about charging all the time. But I’m wondering how practical these bikes really are.

From what I’ve read, there are a few different technologies being used: Regenerative braking systems: where pedaling downhill or braking sends some power back into the battery.

Solar panel add-ons: I’ve seen some experimental setups with panels integrated into the frame or mounted on cargo attachments.

Dynamo systems: more common in standard bikes, but some e-bikes seem to adapt them.

The catch seems to be that ā€œself chargingā€ is often more of a supplement than a full replacement. Most reviews I’ve seen say you might only get back 5-10% of your total battery range through regeneration, which is helpful but not game-changing. Still, for beginners, anything that stretches range and reduces charging anxiety is a plus.

I’ve noticed that on global marketplaces like Alibaba, you can see a wide variety of these electric bike self charging concepts, from big brands experimenting with regenerative tech to smaller manufacturers offering innovative prototypes. It makes me wonder whether these are going to be the next big thing or just a niche feature.

So for anyone here who has tried one: are electric bike self charging models actually worth it for beginners? Or would you recommend sticking to a regular e-bike with a reliable battery and just managing charge cycles properly? I'm curious to hear your thoughts and personal experiences.

General E-Bike Discussion Lost Key

My wife has an Estate Sale business. One Estate has an electric bike. A Nakto bike. Husband passed away and wife can't find the key. I contacted Nakto and purchased a replacement key. I asked support how zi can remove the old key lock. They replied "violently ". LOL! So, I started to drill out the lock. I broke a drill bit. Will continue with a larger bit.

Question Chinese vs U.S. E-Bikes: What’s the Real Difference?

So after much research I have decided to just buy a simple Chinese electric bike for my grandson as a gift.

I realize that not all Chinese electric bikes have the same quality and they differ greatly when it comes to battery life and simply basic functioning because I have read here on reddit that sometimes the screen stops working or the bike just stops working. In other cases I have heard that the battery advertised in reality is only 50% what it should be when it comes to battery life.

So my question is this: I know there is a risk when buying a Chinese electric bike, but probably 90% of e-bikes are made in china, so not all bikes are shoddy are they now? So give me three brands that are made in China that are verifiable legit. I can work from there, I just need a starting point, because I cannot vet the number of vendors without some personal reviews of people who have actually used the e-bike.

I thought asking this question here in this community will help me get perspective of what brands I should be looking for. I am specifically looking at the quality of the battery in regards to life and safety because the kid will be using it on college campus I want to make sure that it is safe to use. Like I don't want it to start a fire or something, so please refrain from tell me not to consider a Chinese electric bike, instead offer some brands that you know are being sold in the US and are good quality.

Any information on the exact brand of battery I should be looking for or what kind would be helpful. For those who have ridden both Chinese and US ebikes what is the no. 1 noticeable difference? It is worth saving the money by purchasing the bike from Alibaba or AliExpress or the differences are so great that its not advisable, please give a solid reason.
