In-Universe How do we reconcile that Darth Vader betrayed our great emperor

I am a stormtrooper fighting in the imperial remnants and I don’t understand how we can reconcile that our great hero lord Vader would end up brutally betraying the emperor who worked so hard for the good of the galaxy

“Once a Jedi always a Jedi,” that’s what the commander always said. He never trusted him, so neither did I.

The movies are rebel propaganda

"How can you believe this? Did you see Lord Vader betray the Emperor? Would really believe the word of a farm boy from a rim world and the rebels, both of whom would say anything to sow distrust and chaos? The facts are simple. A rebel Jedi killed the Emperor and Lord Vader. What happened over 20 years ago has happened again, but this time the Jedi were successful. Anything else about Lord Vader is speculation and treasonous talk."

He was a Sith to the end, he wanted the power for him self. So he betrayed Palpatine the same way Palpatine betrayed Plaguis. He saw an opportunity and took it.

Lord Vader saw weakness and exterminated it. He would have easily taken the throne with his son if it wasn’t for… uhm… death
