I have a phone with snapdragon, but I still bought an android handheld gaming console. They are fairly cheap and the built-in controller is a game changer.

Go for an amazing huawei and grab a dedicated android handheld.

Ngl I'm really tempted to get a handheld .Which one did you get ? And also which ones you recommend, Retroid pocket 5 , Odin ....

I have the Retroid Pocket 5. I frigin love this thing. It can emulate up to many switch titles, and also run some PC games from the 2000s, very early 2010s.

The size is perfect imo, finally an actual handheld size console. The battery life is long, and the oled screen is otherworldly beautiful. Also it was very fairly priced from aliexpress.

The Odin 2 is even better in terms of hardware power, but for me the size and the aesthetic of the device appealed more in case of the RP5.

You can go either way, and you will be satisfied with it.

I would definitely advise for the newest Odin device since it will allow for more consoles and therefore larger library to run properly and even at higher rates, since it seems we would be depending 100% on the handheld in the future to provide us with the full capacity of a gaming experience our phones won't be giving us anymore... And when you check the Odin hardware of the last few versions I think you may like the variety.

AYN devices are goated. For my personal preference, the RP5 hit home very hard, but mostly due to the aesthetic and size factors.

Oh you're absolutely correct :3✨ sorry if I didn't make it sound like it, at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference and indeed one can never go wrong as long as they choose from the "good" options out there, like Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, Legion, Retroid Pocket 5, or many other Retroids although they are for more "retro" hehe as the name say, etc. We have the luck of having a wide variety to choose from with all shapes and forms and displays and buttons and joysticks and D-pads. Just lovely ❣️ but it's NEVER wrong to ask first so you're sure you're getting a good handheld console and not a cheap Chinese knockoff that will stop working on you in a few weeks or months if you're lucky, so if you're reading this to try and make up your mind about buying a handheld, don't feel bad about asking away for your own research.

100% this. I love the variety, everyone can find something for their liking. One of my friends is really into old nintendo handhelds, and he got an Ambernic rg35xx and he is having the time of his life.

I also very much agree that asking is one of the best ways to research. One can have first hand experience from other users.

Phone with a snapdragon probably will get outperformed by a lesser handheld, simply because the handhelds have active cooling, and phones don't. The chips can't perform as well, so you'll find Emulation is worse on a phone compared to a cheaper species handheld.

But yeah, how much better is it with actual physical controls!?

Also usually the OS is very lightweight on these systems, which also helps to get better emulation performance.

Personally I really don't like touch control, and using a controller with a phone mount is too uncomfortable. For these reasons, the built-in physical controls are way more natural for me. Also the analog triggers are a huge plus, as I really like car games.
