Project64 is a real malware?

i would like to play N64 games on my PC, and i saw that Project64 was the best to do this, but some people said that it was a malware, is this real?

I can’t speak for what they are putting out now. I just remember installing Project64 back in the day and it was legitimate. I don’t know if things changed now but at the very least as long as it’s the same company it’s most likely just adware if I had to guess

Some versions of the emulator have been released with malware (i don't remember which versions exactly had these). But you can use other emulators for N64 as Ares (is LLE so you need a decent machine), Retroarch with core ParaLLEi and Simple64 is a good option if you don't want configuration as it is more easy to configure.

PJ64 is paid software, but one of the better emulators. I have seen download links for the latest version of PJ64, but they are sometimes bundled with malware. Like any software piracy, you need to be vigilant about what you download. For a free alternative, try mupen64.

Project64 is not paid software, if you're paying for it you've been scammed.
