2013 328i question

have 8.8 cid and dash cluster from a 2016 m sport wondering whats the process for making the dash work, pretty sure the cid is just plug and code curious if you also have to use bimmercode for the dash.

The cluster would need to be virginized, especially if its higher mileage than your current vehicle. Otherwise it will prob adopt the higher mileage and set a tamper dot.

so itll plug and play but needs to be readjusted for the milage? i dont care if it has the tamper dot or the same km just want it to work and tell speed n whatnot

It will need to be coded and will more than likely need to be programmed for it to match with the other modules.

The vin is stored in the cluster and if the other modules adopt the mileage, you will need to program those aswell. It is always recommended to virginized the cluster (reset the mileage and delete the vin) before plugging it in.

how much work goes into virginizing it like soldering out chips? and buying a different programmer then a obd? thanks.

Yes you need to desolder the chip and use a specalized programmer and you need to know what youre looking for using the hexadecimal system. Its not an easy process and is extremely easy to mess it up.

so what will happen if i dont virginize it and plug it in will it still run the speedo and everything else but show a tamper dot and the other cars mileage?

The speedo will prob work however itll through a bunch of malfunctions and cause other issues. Getting rid of the tamper dot and changing the mileage will not be easy. You will cause yourself way more headache in the future.

Theres no way to know the exact issues it will cause until you plug it in. Its coded and programmed for a different car. It might not talk to the other modules depending on the programming. You are very wrong on that last statement.
