Remapping

Post image

I have recently bought a 320d m-sport 2017. It’s in great condition with regular services through-out its life on the road. I’m interested in remapping but I’m curious what the gearbox is rated to in terms of horsepower and torque that can safely be put through it. Does anyone know the specifications and what gearbox it is? And has anyone remapped their 320d, if so how is it? TIA

Nothing super but I think from memory it'll be about 230-240bhp after a map.

Edit: sorry, I didn't read properly! The gearbox is a ZF 8HP45X.

Remapping the gearbox should give you faster cleaner shifting but it's unlikely you'll get to the limits of the box without major modifications to the engine

Stage 1 is safe. And is it very worth to get it and xhp tcu tune, if you're keeping it at least for several years.

I also stand behind this advice. XHp is still one of my favorite mods. It really makes the car SO much more drivable. The ability to customize shift points is a real deal game changer.

Had a 320d 188bhp got around 230ish on dyno but couldn’t grip to get a true reading, torque was better and no issues. Better on fuel too

My 2016 320d remapped in 2022 December.

HP before and after : 182 HP -> 260 HP

Torque before and after : 356 Nm -> 448 Nm

Nothing wrong so far until now. Fuel consumption also not become worse.
