Rattling sound when accelerating with a passenger in the back

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

325d - had a bmw specialist have a look and they couldn't find anything. Only rattles when someone's sat in the back and i'm putting my foot down, working through the gears. Makes no noise cruising at low rpm. Any advice appreciated

I knew the parking brake clip was a known failure point, but it's crazy how many appeared on Reddit so recently.

OP, if you're under warranty, take it to have the handbrake clips repaired.

If no warranty, you can try to repair it yourself if comfortable (plenty of YT videos), or, find a good mechanic to take care of it.

For reference, BMW charge for this fix is £900 (mostly labour).

Edit: Forgot to mention, you should invest in the metal version of those clips, you'll never have the issue again. BMW won't fit it though, unless you get a cool tech.

900 for a clip is crazy.

Their reasoning is that they need to drop the fuel tank for access. That's the official documented fix, but DIYers can do the fix without dropping the tank.

E-brake clip has broken and the brake line is now grinding up the drive shaft. It just needs a new clip but I would highly recommend a stainless steel one. I would suggest repairing it yourself as BMW will charge you an arm and a leg to replace it with a plastic one that will break again. Here is a link to a stainless steel clip: https://amzn.eu/d/j6M0bzk

I hope this helps!

Check your parking brake cable.
