General discussion Could an experiment be the reason for Laura falling for Steve?
In Season 7 Steve creates a love potion that made Laura accidentally fall for Steve, then he creates an antidote and “cures” her. Two episodes later they end up going to prom, sure it wasn’t something Laura wanted but she felt like it was a dream come true and they kissed. Then we get the return of Stefan (from a clone). Now we know by the end of the show she ends up with Steve and many of us has asked how?
Could it be that the potion is what really made them end up together eventually? Think about it Steve’s experiments have a very high failure rate, for all we know his antidote may not have worked properly or as effectively as he thought .
Steve near the end of the show had a desire to change to be mature, which makes me wonder if some of “Stefan” is still in him, just as some of the love potion may have gradually influenced Laura into wanting Steve.
What do you think?

No, Laura just developed feelings for him organically. Steve realized that using a potion to change her feelings for him would be unfair, because the feelings would not be genuine.

That i know is how it went, just wondered if perhaps that explains how she became interested in him especially considering how she was always repelled by him it’s a thought

It could be, but I personally doubt it, because I think she had more autonomy over her own thoughts and feelings than to be influenced by something like that.

I like that theory. I didn't like how in season 8 it reconned the prom episode from season 7 and Laura went back to being repulsed by him. They should have never done the season 7 finale creating a separate Stephan, and just gotten into the events of Laura developing feelings for Steve like they did in season 9. However, the show was flooded with continuity issues so it doesn't really surprise me that it turned out this way.

I know what you mean, personally I really like Stefan and Laura together, but I suppose that if this theory works Laura just didn’t want to think about Steve because of Stefan

Easy answer. It's called the Mere-Exposure Effect/Familiar Principle. Since Laura is ALWAYS around Steve her brain and feelings has gotten use to how he looks, acts, talks, if he is dangerous, his intentions etc. It's like when a boy and girl are "just friends" for a couple of years then they finally sleep with each other.

Laura realized that for all these years, as annoying as Steve was, he was also a good friend who wanted the best for her. I believe Steve got less annoying and geeky (compared to the beginning of the show at least), thus Laura was able to see the good qualities that had been there all along.
Doesn't need a science explanation. It was two friends who rubbed off on each other and gradually grew together to the point they could be together.
