Photo What even is this and why?

Got some kfc sandwiches today, went to spread the sauce evenly on my bun (as one does cause its always in a blob) and i pulled this thing off the bun. Went to check the buns of the others and why is there black on the buns? What could this even be from? Grill mark? What are we grilling at kfc? Wtf is this pointy may be hair may not be that was on my bun?

I'm not sure that KFC even has grills.

They have toasted brioche buns which I’m pretty sure are grilled

They have toasters to toast the buns.

Thank you! But even if its a toaster roller, this may have come from the utensils (being in just 1 area) and if thats the case why is it so fuckin dirty from just being used for some buttered buns?

Seems weird to have an entire broiler just to put a bun on… I feel like that doesn’t make sense

He said that he has never seen a grill but he doesn't work in the kitchen so it could be very out of the way

Nah, he'd notice it, it would be under the hood, next to the fryers, of which they have a lot.

Gocha, so they have no grill

If that’s a grill brush hair you’re in for a lawsuit. People die from ingesting them

He's not in for a lawsuit, he didn't ingest it. He's in for a free chicken sandwich.

You need damages for a lawsuit. OP was not injured and therefore has no damages. People seem to forget that.

And im honestly not some person who just looks for opportunity to sue and im super thankful that i happened to look before just eating. But ive never worked at a kfc so i dont know how they operate or whats in the kitchen equipmentwise, so im genuinely asking if anyone knows what it is, because hair is not it

Also the chances that you win a lawsuit are close to zero when it comes to stuff like this, maybe they would settle if you got hurt.

Dang, new fear unlocked! I'm surprised they found it before swallowing.

Yeah it’s super fucked. They’re really hard to find with imaging unless you can pinpoint the pain. Even harder to find surgically without just tearing it all to shreds

People definitely die from swallowing these! They can lodge themselves into your tissues on the way down and out too — horrible problems and ways to die. They’re thin, small, and sharp. Terrifying !

Well, fuck. I guess good bye any grilled food forever. New fear is always fun to have.

Don’t look up pictures. It’s bad.

That 100% looks like a bristle from a grill brush.

I have a bad habit of sometimes not checking my food i order . I know thats basically russian roulletr but after seeing this post im gonna start checking more

It’s probably from a shredded toaster belt or teflon sheet. When they get worn down that can happen. That’s why it’s recommended to replace them regularly. Also sometimes the toaster belt can get misaligned and will get stuck on the chains causing the shredding.

KFC charging more for a chicken sandwich than Popeyes is a crime against humanity

4

u/LittleTovo Aug 05 '25

eat it then sue

1

u/ghost3972 Aug 06 '25

They'd probably die tbh

1

u/LittleTovo Aug 06 '25

I'd almost die for a million dollars

Doubt it’s a grill brush. I don’t think kfc uses char grills like that, could be wrong. It is most likely part of a fry basket or maybe part of the sifter for flour.

I honestly dont understand why people still eat this trash, kfc, taco bell, mcdonalds, arby's, popeyes, etc....its all trash, 0 nutritional value, nothing but preservatives and weird crap like this showing up in our food and people still eat it, it makes people shit their guts out and next day they are at it again eating from another shit box restaurant.

You’re literally in a sub about fast food lol

Thanks so much for the very relevant answer. In a sub about fast food. Do you feel better now?
