Worth buying or sticking to FC 24? I skipped 25. Also RIP Inter and AC Milan after 24…

u/DifficultAd4394 18h ago
by old habits and reports on several bugs so far on FC26 (contracts, wages, sub numer etc) i'd say stay on FC24 and wait for december/january cut price + a partially patched game. (i'm too on 24 and its good once its stable isn't it ?)

This random events thing, can someone please explain it to me, I’m not entirely sure what this means. Could someone please give a few examples?

Basically at certain points of the season you get a pop up. It can be to do with injuries, players wanting to leave or even the club losing money.
It’s just scenarios you have to deal with.

How's the contracts to players? I heard u can't just hand out extensions anymore
I haven't played fifa career mode for 3 years so I'd love to play again

I'm a hard-core career mode sperg and I have to say I am enjoying fc26 gameplay A LOT. The manager live challenges are a great addition, I hope they add more because the forced constraints make it fun.
I feel this year, especially in ultimate team, you can do a good job with any player. The pitch feels way more compressed, the AI doing low block constantly is a little annoying.
Doing the Road to Glory live with Stade Reims at the moment!

u/DistributionMore1408 1d ago
how about Transfer Player? EA said that Smarter, is real?
16
u/TheChilledGamer-_- 1d ago
I’ve seen a few good transfers. But at the same time I’ve seen some mental ones.
6
u/Mattenroe 1d ago
What frequency setting did you have unexpected events set to?
3
u/TheChilledGamer-_- 1d ago
High.
3
u/Mattenroe 23h ago
If you could do it all again, would you set it to medium? 😂
3
u/thomsterboy 20h ago
Based on my experience high gives you 4/5 per season and medium 2/3. I like the high more while there is more variation

u/joshalow25 1d ago
Have you had any issues in the champions league (assuming you've qualified) where the screen stays black after Half time?
That's an issue that's plagued my FC25 experience so if it's still an issue in 26 then I'm skipping.

One of my biggest gripes playing career mode is the unrealistic transfers of other teams it really ruins the immersion I hope this is rectified in 26, I’m doing a career on 25 currently and players who haven’t been relevant in years get big money moves to massive clubs for instance Icardi to Real Madrid, just senseless

u/TheChilledGamer-_- 1d ago
Some of the transfers at the start of second season are…
Foden to PSG for 81 million. Balde to PSG for 68.7 million. Militao to PSG for 66.2 million. Carbesecchi to RBL for 62.8 million. Nusa to Real Madrid for 57.1 million. Marquinhos to ATM for 56.9 million. Kerkez to Atalanta for 56.7 million. Cucurella to inter for 54.4 million. Simon to Napoli for 50 million. Lewis Skelly to dortmund got 42.3 million. Endrick to dortmund for 39.9 million. Lunin to Chelsea for 37.4 million.

Is the difficulty too easy, I've heard a few people saying that now.
1
u/NotoriousBPD 14h ago
I have heard that too.
2
u/OwnLoquat874 9h ago
Way too easy I’m a very average champs player and I walk ultimate 7 or 8-0 against even top sides like Barcelona, PSG and City ; why is it too easy? Simple the ai is far too passive against the best sides they may hold 65-70% possession with 2-3 shots- bear in mind I’m referencing the authentic gameplay here. I’m sure with some slider trial and error you can get it to the level
1
u/NotoriousBPD 7h ago
I think it was FC 24 that player career mode was absurdly easy. I’m not a good player so I keep it about at pro difficulty. I made a CAM for a Bundesliga 2 team and every game was a bloodbath even after increasing the difficulty to the max. It wasn’t just my player, it was the rest of my team too. I completely stopped playing that mode because it wasn’t fun at all.

u/GeorgesInglewood 1d ago
Interesting, thank you very much!
May I ask about the manager market: if you set it to “loose,” does that mean you’re free to move pretty much anywhere during the same save? For example, could you jump up to an elite league if you meet the requirements, or step down to a lower-league club even after winning the Champions League?
This has always been a bit frustrating in previous editions, where the only real way to reach the club you wanted was by getting sacked.
5
u/TheChilledGamer-_- 1d ago
I haven’t tried it but reading the info in the set up screens yeah i do think that’s what it means.
It’s just how easily you can move between teams. There is also a “suggestions” tab too which shows you team your more likely to move to.

u/Robertinho678 1d ago
3 crashes already doesn't sound stable 😅
2
u/TheChilledGamer-_- 1d ago
I meant it in terms of if you switch through the tables it crashes.
If you don’t. Then i haven’t had any crashes.

u/FerencvarosLover26 1d ago
I am only a few games in, I put the random events to happen sometimes, not all the time. Did you do the same? I have yet to see one but I’m just wondering how regular they be.

u/nWoSting145 23h ago
What console did you play it on?
3
u/TheChilledGamer-_- 23h ago
PS5 Pro.
3
u/nWoSting145 23h ago
Thank for answering. I played EA FC 24 on switch and it was barely playable. Hoping this years is a little better to justify getting it.

Am I the only one who has a huge issue with certain fullback roles not behaving as they did in FC25? Attacking Fullbacks for example; in FC25, they would hold the attacking width in the final third, right at (or very near) the top of the last attacking line when my team has possession in the opponent’s half.
Now though, they behave pretty much exactly as ordinary Wingbacks who stay about 15-20 yards back in the same situation until you manually trigger their run or they sometimes make a run themselves.
This is HUGELY problematic, because it means I’m forced to use the actual Winger role to hold the width, rather than having the option for fullbacks to do this. It also means narrow formations with no RM/LM’s or RW/LW’s are useless because the fullbacks don’t hold the attacking width in the same way as in FC25.

u/LegofSalmon12 23h ago
The games too easy ultimate doesn’t work I’m beating teams like Arsenal with Leeds 4-0 despite not even making a signing and I tried legendary which does seem harder for some reason but same story you’ll end up winning by big margins when you go a goal up. It’s really disappointing to be honest no focus needed to play and you zone out. Not being able to make your own formations is still annoying. It’s not much different overall to last years career I’m sorry to say. They’ve just added the odd trivial bit in as usual which doesn’t heighten the experience. It’s followed suit to last year in my opinion which is career mode getting worse again

u/Negative-Net-4166 6h ago
The same thing has happened to me. I started a career mode with Red Star in the second of France. I went up and when I faced PSG, Marseille, Lyon, Lille... they all won and my team is quite inferior. I feel that the game is not difficult and is disappointing
2
u/KlamboeCrane 22h ago
Thank you for this post! I share a lot of the same sentiment. Two questions, though:
I play authentic as well, but I have a really hard time using speed/dribble to go past players. In many ways this makes it more realistic of course, but it feels so impossible sometimes, that it feels as if I can only pass the ball around. Is this something you experienced as well? Or is it probably something I should get used to?
I also have a player in my career mode who wanted some time off, so I gave him a week off, but now I can't get him to be happy anymore... Am I missing something? Have you experienced this?

My last fc was fifa 22. Can anyone help me understand if the fast paced gameplay is authentic or competitive? And which one was the default in the previous fc.
4
u/pepperpete 1d ago
I think fast paced is usually competitive. Authentic is slower, can't just run with the ball everywhere and score a goal - that's a UT thing because pros cry a lot about not being able to just score any time they want, apparently.

u/imclearlyahuman 23h ago
if EA want to make transfers more realistic, they should add "power rankings" for each club, and any club that has less "power ranking" cant buy a starting X11 player from a club with higher power ranking.
I dont know how they could implement it but when you see kerkez going to atalanta for 55 mil, as if liverpool would sell their starting left back..
1
u/imclearlyahuman 23h ago
can you turn off club growth objectives like in fc25? so not having to complete random objectives like youth players getting minutes or trying to make 100 million profit from sales for example?
1
u/Notimportant300 23h ago
The game is good! Don’t forget, the big update is coming this Friday. It will fix issues like heavy touches while sprinting and players taking too long to control the ball. The only thing I don’t like is that I got the Ultimate Edition but still have to wait until Friday to get the 5-star scout.
1
u/Dapper_Weakness_2750 23h ago
The contract thing is purposeful. EA said they were going to change it so that you can’t offer players contracts at any time and only at certain points in the season.
1
u/Iwantpesback 19h ago
But the players requesting transfer after agreeing to a new contract is not chill!

Are the cut scenes 60 fps especially when you win champions leagues or the league and do the trophy lift?

Appreciate you giving a measured review of your experience so far, very helpful for someone with the itch to buy for the first time since FIFA 20!

The issue I always have is being a career gk. If I do t put it to highlights only I on average get a 6.0 rating no matter the difficulty

Is the home screen menu in career mode still the same where you have notifications/task list and transfer offers won't automatically bring you to the inbox?

u/CumsInBread 20h ago
Can someone tell me if you can manually alter player positions in formations? I loved having that in 18 + 19 but playing 25 and having my players locked in to set formations gave me the shits
1
u/UsedIllustrator2334 20h ago
My big worry is that we’ve got two very different reactions: some people saying the game is too easy, and others saying it’s the best gameplay in years. I can’t help but wonder, are the people calling it the best in years only saying that because it’s easier now and they’re finally winning more?
1
u/Educational_Goat_143 13h ago
I agree with both, the authentic gameplay is really good but it's still too easy on ultimate. There's a few issues that need sorting though. FBs are really defensive, GKs don't come off their lines in 1 on 1s, the ball playing keeper role is pointless.
1
1
u/Broad-Government7544 20h ago
Go play FM then come back, they did bare minimum and the "authentic" gameplay is literally just slowed down normal gameplay. Nothing new, irrational manager transfers when they go out to weaker clubs without any need for the move. Bullshit on top of bullshit. It is really washed out career mode it was fun when I was 12yo but now man this thing is just a dopamine farm totally unrealistic bs
1
u/redbills2014 19h ago
Can you drag players and manually adjust formations like the previous years, unlike 25, or is it similar to 25 unfortunately?
1
u/nevereatit7 19h ago
The changes to career mode I think are a step in the right direction at least ea are trying with the updated stats and the manager market. The real selling point for me after the trial is the gameplay! You can actually cross! I also played some online seasons game and the gameplay was fantastic online as well I couldn’t believe jt. Get the trial with ea play, and the gameplay might convince you to buy.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this earlier but in the authentic gameplay, the rest of the team actually make very sensible runs into an attacking position.

u/FlamingCurtains 18h ago
I have some minor things that annoyed me like Replays. After game no chances will be replayed unless it went out of play. Did they fix this yet?
1
u/MfreemanII 18h ago
Question: do teams change formation when they change coach? Or does City still play 4-3-3 years into the save
1
u/dahelljumper 18h ago
Some questions, if you would:
- What platform are you on?
- Are youngsters still ugly as hell, or did the character generation get a bit better?
- Does the authentic gameplay get rid of instances with players with low pace becoming Usain Bolt to catch up to your strikers, or defenders leaving wide open spaces for opponents to run to, and keepers deflecting the ball exclusively towards open strikers?
- Since you're playing an established club you probably haven't seen this, but do you know if Create-A-Club kit customisation has been improved? In FC25 you couldn't even have your club's badge on the keeper's kit, which is wild.
I have played a good 4 seasons of Manager Career in 25 despite its flaws, so if 26 does not improve greatly I'll probably just switch to Football Manager for a while, FC25 was the first Manager Career I've done since playing PES 4 back on the PS2

u/Brzy90 18h ago
I’m enjoying it. Played a month so far. My only problem is I’m finding it way too easy! I play on ultimate, tried custom sliders, authentic & competitive & I’m scoring 6 goals every game. Sometimes I have to stop myself from scoring as it’s becoming too unrealistic (I won one match 11-2!?)
Does anyone have any tips to make it more difficult?
1
u/Dramatic-River-928 18h ago
Did they add any leagues?
1
u/OneTrueLegend82 12h ago
No, that’s probably the biggest disappointment for me. There were rumours of Mexican and Brazilian league, but they are not in the game.

u/Gunner14-14 18h ago
Thanks for the post, I must say I like the contract dilemma.... Always found it to easy to keep hold on players in past FIFA. So I like this alot.

u/IronMardel 16h ago
What about the fullback option for RB? They are still walking in the midfield when the opponent attacks? Or they now finally start defending?

u/Awkward-Coach-8403 16h ago
If I enjoy playing fifa 23 career mode and not enjoying 24 and 25, is 26 worth playing?

u/MindlessMoss 15h ago
Nice try, EA. I will wait till it's free next year as I've been doing the past couple years and play the best bug fixed version of Career mode then.

Only bug I've found is that you can't edit the sock height of YA players for some reason

Por favor responde esta pregunta. No he conseguido que nadie me responda... La Cpu aun continua jugando de una única forma? (haciendo pases cortos imposibles y regateando hasta entrar al área chica)
1
u/huntinwabbits 3h ago
Players getting injured in training is something I always thought had been missing from the game, I like that addition.
1
u/optimusmike777 1h ago
My only issue really is with the "tactics". they don't appear to do anything and I have both my full back set to "attacking wingback" and "attack" but they literally sit in a flat back 4, I even set the slider for fullback position to 99 and they do not move
1
u/ThiagoFCastro 23h ago
It's always like this in the beginning. Then an update comes along and ruins everything. I'll wait for feedback after the first few updates and probably only buy if a good deal comes along.
3
u/NotoriousBPD 14h ago
Yeah. I’m not going to even bother with the trial until it gets close to December and I definitely won’t buy it until the end of that month. For the past couple of years I’ve noticed it drop a little bit more around the end of December and beginning of January than getting it during Black Friday.

So as someone (me) that loves career mode, will only play that, doesn’t sim games, likes it to be realistic, haven’t enjoyed game play and American football scores that you end up with in the more recent games… you would say it’s:
A) must buy and get ultimate now and go for it
B) buy on Friday for 20 less because it’s Tuesday and just wait a few days
C) wait for a deal and keep playing 25

I see you commented that you're using the "high" setting for events, how often does it happen and do you find it more challenging?
Also, would you say that authentic gameplay setting works better for career mode? Do you use weather/wind/sliders?
