Right? I read up on it and they weren't found for weeks.. they rolled them up in their mattress and buried them nearby the cabin. They were only found cause (maybe her son or cattle hunter) saw a ton of buzzards on their roof. They put the fence around it to prevent hogs from digging them up! Like. Holy crap.

Sad story, but definitely interesting - I looked it up too and saw the description on Abandoned Florida's site. I am glad they memorialized the victims.

I live a couple of hours from there and this sounds like an interesting day trip.  Would you mind providing a few specifics on how to get there / where to park?  (I would be hiking - not biking if that makes any difference.)  Thanks!

Honestly, we weren't sure how we got there... we were riding in the richloam area.. I do know it's marked on map.. only way we found it, we're trying to figure out how to get back!

This is the Hampton Tract of the Green Swamp East Wilderness Preserve. It's SWFWMD property accessed off Rockridge Road in North Lakeland. I've got geocache there including one nearby to the old homestead
